You decide that having the man executed is enough. And executed he is - along the ancient custom of the region, Ewyn is thrown into the palace's moat with his hands bound and a rock tied around his neck.

1161 AD, Summer

Money, money, money!! Cash flows into the Treasury as your merchants once again score a jackpot on the fur and skin trade with the southerners.

1161 AD, Autumn

Report comes from the southeast; a strategic keep in Ceodwell suffered an uprising by its garrison, made mostly of Alldivine faithful!

Fortunately, the less violent of their fellow worshippers as well as other non-Alldivine soldiers fought bravely and valiantly to regain control. After a day of fighting that left hundreds dead, the loyal soldiers of the Emperor brought down the rebel scum. Phew!

Another financial report, this time about hurthling wine. It sold for decent profits.

1161 AD, Mid-Autumn

It seems that the profits made by Treasury have lured some of your less honest officials to commit the worse of things - thievery!

Even now, the bureaucratic machine of the Empire is in midst of chaos, as more and more reports come into hands of your council that various tax collectors, advisors, officials and Treasury workers have been stealing money for past few years.

(Economy rating lowered by 1 point).

Furthermore, what should be done about the corruption scandal as it is? Some believe that caught administrators are to be punished, other believe that, as the Empire grows in land and money, so must the bureaucratic machine of it...

A) Just punish the wrongdoers, the others will surely learn the lesson for the future.
B) Punish the wrongdoers, but also increase bureuacratic budget to prevent similar incidents from happening.

So now that we control the Luathbasian core regions, the three Luathbasian peoples, and are Pantheonist is there anything else we need for a Luathbas Restoration to be possible?

Also just cause I'm curious is there anything we've done in the past three games that have helped the weakening of magic?

The last piece of territory to truly claim Restoration of Luathbas would be at least the eastern half of the current Duchy of Koi, vassal of Eldricans.

Any megabeast slaying counts up for this, but no, there wasn't much you dont to weaken it; instead, you never helped strengthen it, so it wanes away on its own slowly.

You decide to sponsor festivals, donate to poor and lower taxes.

1161 AD, Spring

You and your courtiers march through the capital city, giving money to the poor and the needy. Rarely in these parts and these trying times a monarch does such a magnaminous thing for their subjects. You can see they appriecate it.

At one moment, there's some commotion as a young man steps outside the lines, but two men clad in the black of Shadowranks tackle him down before you notice that he was going towards you with a knife at his hand.

Surely the man will be questioned and then executed for his attempted regicide. The day continues on without further incident.

1161 AD, Mid-Spring

The captain of the Shadowranks arrives to report on the investigation.

"The man that tried to stab you during the ceremony of donation is Ewyn Taochwellen, a minor noble and a zealous Alldiviner. He has claimed that even after you converted, you're guilty of grave sin and must be punished. The agents of the Spymasters did not find any potential ties between Ewyn and Alldivine clergy, or someone outside the group."

You decide to...

A) Use this as propaganda to further curb Alldivine power.
B) Have him executed, per law's dictat.
C) Show generosity and leniency and let the man go.

7265
You decide to convert to Pantheonism, and no longer give Alldivines any leverage against you.

The Pantheonist priests of Oaths arrive very quickly, letting you swear the oath to worship all of the Pantheon gods, of the past, of the current and of the future listings. They then make 112 psalms, asking the 112 deities of Pantheon to provide you with prosperity and good life.

1160 AD, Midwinter

The introduction of new succession laws, excommunication by Alldivines and switch to Pantheonism hasn't been taken lightly by your noblemen and peasants alike. Even now reports come from all around the Empire, of people voicing their displeasure with your rule even on streets.

1160 AD, End of the Year

You aren't sure you want to revisit this ritual this year, but what can you do? The Advisor is already here! And so are the Scrolls of Kingdom Status!

Happiness: 0!
Population: 7
Economy: 13!
Army: (9)
Imp.Authority: -2

"Your Majesty, the authority of the Emperor's office and the happiness of your subjects reached all time lows. The Statesmen all agree that something must be done, as people do not want to listen even to them! Issueing any new laws could spark a rebellion, if one isn't going to happen anyways!"

As for possibility of festivities...

A) We have more than enough money and the people deserve some fun after this tumultous year.
B) No, we ain't sponsoring any party time for the peasants!

As for possibility of lowering a tax or two...

A) Sure thing, we can go with lower taxes for a year.
B) I'm sure they will behave decently with default taxes around.

As for a drastic choice of putting Army on the streets and roads...

A) Sure, my soldiers will keep the peace.
B) No, force will only upset the people more.

And for an even more drastic choice of abdication...

A) No! I made this mess, and I will fix it! People will accuse me of cowardice if I abandon the throne!
B) Definitely! A fresh face in the office might placate the people and help them forget my mess.

"Our Treasury is overflowing with money this year, my liege. Shall we spend it productively in some way or the other?"

A) Time to ask the dwarves to commission us a powerful artifact of sorts!
B) We ought to sponsor renovation of all those keeps and manors we regained!
C) Refurbish old fortresses in the border regions.
D) Sponsor creation of an bronze-cast statue of yourself!
E) Seek the services of a traveling and powerful Sorceress.
F) Donate to the poor and the needy to show off your generosity.
G) Take a swim in the money, this newfound sea of riches of yours!
H) Send a lavish gift to one of neighbouring countries.
I) Expand the budget of the Army, so it maintain even greater numbers.

//5 choices to make, no split votes pls.

You agree to that.

A week later, Eivan and Bjeda are 're-married' in Pantheonist ritual.

1160 AD, Winter

Silver arrives in the Treasury and gemstones are sent northwards.

Also, you receive news from the northwestern mountain settlements; gold is being mined out. You can expect first loads of bullion to arrive next year!

Quote

Glassware brings more profits than last year! And it mantains the high quality, pleasing your noblemen.

Speaking of noblemen; the court gathers to speak with you.

"Your Majesty," says the Baron of Gwyn. "Mayhaps, for the best of the Empire, you should ask the Alldivine clergy to lift your excommunication?"

A) "Fine, I will ask them to do that."
B) "No, never!"
C) "No need for that, because I will convert to..."
Ca) "Pantheonism!"
Cb) "Singularism!"

7267
You sign edict of Dissolution of Cloisters, prohibiting congregations from occupying estates and keeps of the Crown, basically restricting them to temples built for sole purpose of worship, or, at worst, houses and homesteads of the faithful.

Later that day, you have a talk with Eivan. He seems flabbergasted by your continuous assault against the faith of your grandfather.

"I ask permission to be re-annointed under auspices of the Pantheon, father. I shall have none in your conflict with Alldivines."

A) "Fine then."
B) "No!"

7268
All other faiths have less than 5% of populace following them, they're not for picking ;v

7269
You agree to this deal, and the Allvidine clergy is forced to sign the papers of the contract. Few hours later, they leave in shame, but free.

1160 AD, Mid-Autumn

Money arrives in your Treasury. And if your courtiers think it's quite a lot, it is; along with Alldivine compensation, came (relatively smaller) amounts of money from Pantheonists and Singularists.

1160 AD, Late Autumn

The Alldivines excommunicated you!

You're no longer favored by their divine patrons, All marriages you and your children made under the oath of Alldivines are null and void, unless the wound is mended or they convert and hastily redo the vows. Which, considering that not many of your kids are still alive, means that only Eivan is in trouble at the moment. Eirika, having married into Cidric's house, had to swear by the Pantheon.

You can rest assured that your authority and mood of your people will soon drop a lot.

A) Time to make amends. They've sent me money, I will send them back, maybe they will take the bait.
B) Pft! I fear no words! I will remain resolute and wait till they repeal the excommunication.
C) Pft! That means it's time to convert...
Ca) ...to the Pantheonist faith!
Cb) ...to the Singularist faith!
D) And I shall pass an edict of Dissolution of Cloisters, taking back Methiantese keeps and manors back from the religious folk!

@syvarris: it's free for all, only the last fight is called a duel because, well, there's only 2 people remaining.

@Pavellius: sure thing.

If someone wears both a ring of nullification and a ring of demigods, are they invulnerable to everything?

Ring of Inevitability, Phase Dagger/Lance, Trickster's Robe, Rainbow Knife/Elemental Staff/Fist of Entropy,  bird Emblems, Ion Blade, some poison applying - you can still nail them, don't worry :P

You decide to negotiate the rightful compensation for your dishonor.

Quote

They will compensate the Emperor with yearly amount of tithes and donations they usually receive from the faithful and supporters.

A) Ah, this is good!
B) No! I want more!

7274
You decide to push them to the negotiations table.

First of all, you will be talking with Alldiviners about...

A) Religious equality and how it is important to maintain it.
B) Religious tax and how it is important to maintain it.
C) Curbing the power of Alldivine cloisters.
D) Compensation for their treacherous behaviour.

7275
I shall spectate this.
