"Our father is drunk with power, I think. All he does is conquer. Not an edict issued in two years. The moment an opportunity for glory or territorial gains appears, he rushes to grab it. I don't remember him being so greedy before. Where is he rushing? Is he truly ill?"

"Not that I've heard."

"Maybe it's mother's death that shook him so much. Is he afraid maybe?"

"Afraid of what?"

"Maybe he's afraid of how fragile our country is, but it's his fault for wasting our forces like that."

"Are you going to do something about it? About.. father?" Houlandin scoffs.

"Me? I gave my eye for father and the Empire, I would gladly give my leg and arm and life if needs be, but someone should talk to father and have him rethink about sending men and children to die, because one day, someone will send him to die."
