You decide to fight for Methiant's safety, calling up emergency mobilization as well as sending a dispatch to the Cydwyl Kingdom.

The Marshal salutes you.

"Sire, will you defend the Empire yourself?"

A) "VERILYYYYY!"
B) "No, but my skilled son Houlandin shall lead you!"
C) "No, but it's prime opportunity for Iwald to gain experience!"
D) "My trust lies in skills of your subordinates, good Marshal!"

Cript pointed out certain stuff so for now leadership issues are out of voting, we will get to that later ;v

EDIT: Also I just noticed that it was pointed out that Iwald apparently got martial and wise traits - that was a fuck up on my part, ignore the 'second', Iwald is purely martial.

You decide to expand on Army's budget, so it can field larger amount of soldiers at once while still keeping everyone adequately supplied and armed.

No edicts this year either.

1139 AD, Spring

Even as you read the report, the court is in state of panic. Dwarves of Ankurvat and Zonalath have crossed your border and begun attacking your settlements and killing your subjects! Their armies number approximately ten thousand, and amongst them are some lizard riders (at least a fifth of the whole), along with few strange triangular machines decorated with purple crystals, drawn by stout furry quadrupeds with tusks and trunks.

Citing 'the worst of sacriledges possible' and 'to avenge the memory of Zasitost' as reasons behind the attack, the dwarves are here to teach you a lesson - a painful and bloody one, if the few captives at the border are to be believed.

War council gathers immediately and several topics are pursued.

As for the dwarven invasion itself...

A) Our Army will face and destroy them in battle!
B) We must negotiate, mayhaps bloodshed can be avoided.

As for potential emergency mobilization...

A) Duh, where else will we get fresh mea- I mean soldiers?
B) No need to upset our people with this!

As for reinforcements from the outside...

A) Time to call in favors with our allies, the Cydwyl!
B) Let's keep it between us and the dwarves, for now.
C) Maybe ask Lametanians for help this time?

You order to have the tomb purified from evil magics, and then looted in the name of Empire!

1138 AD, Midwinter

Lots of wealth was unearthed from the tomb, according to the governor's report. Plethora of golden and silver coins, plus jewels and jewellery. Several weapons and articles of spidersilk clothing, all of highest quality and heavily decorated, were found, alas examination has shown to traces of magics in them. Purely ceremonial stuff, and with quite few buyers amongst nobility and traders dealing in precious items!

All in all, your Treasury got as much money as you usually get from silver, gemstones and metal mines combined.

Few days later, Estrid finally arrives from Cydwyl, a letter of apology and her belongings at her, along with servants and gifts for Houlandin. The duo marries in a small ceremony.

1138 AD, End of the Year

They year came and went, quite peacefully in fact.

Of course, that means that the Advisor is going to visit you soon - oh look, he's right there!

Economy: 10!

"The Treasury is filled with riches beyond measure, your Majesty! It's splendid time to spend these riches on something either lovely, or grand, or mayhaps both!"

A) Commission some grandiose statue to reflect your glory and majesty as Emperor of Methiant.
B) Sponsor some glorious celeberations to appease peasants and nobles alike.
C) Refurbish, renovate and repair the royal Palace.
D) Send some gifts to one of our neighbours to strengthen relations.
E) -
F) Seek the services of a traveling and powerful Sorceress.
G) Raise the funding of the Army even higher, so it becomes even grandier and larger than before.

"Also, per your orders, I'm asking - do you wish to issue an Edict this year?"

A) "Yeah!"
B) "Ehh, no."

You decide to sponsor construction of the amphitheatre for the Alldivine choirs. Houlandin thanks you and leaves your chambers.

1138 AD, Mid-Autumn

Once again you become a grandfather. This time Abis, wife of Leath, has borne him a daughter. They've named her 'Irsa', apparently after one of Abis' aunts from Parsia.

Metals and glassware bring some profits, which arrive in the Treasury along with silver, gold and gemstones.

Few days later, a governor from the east sends you a letter.

His workers, while digging up some clay near the ruins of Zonalath Zasitost, has stumbled upon an underground structure, which was quickly discovered to be a tomb. It is sealed and wasn't touched for decades if not centuries, and the runic script on the walls and the frame of the sealed entrance is obviously dwarven.

He asks for guidance, and you decide to...

A) Have the dwarves informed that there's some bones they have to move, and quickly.
B) Have the tomb purified then looted, that will show those bearded bastards!
C) Have the tomb purified just in case, and leave it be.
D) Quickly order covering the tomb with ample amount of soil and have the local clayworks relocated.

7753
You ask whether they offer something in return, and Houlandin scoffs at you.

"Father, they ask for donations. Of course they won't give anything in return, except maybe praise toward your name, our dynasty, the office of Emperor...?"

A) "Then it's fine, I will sponsor construction of their music hall."
B) "Then it's a no, I won't spend money on such trifle projects!"

7754
You decide to stash the papers for now. Maybe sometime in the future they will be more useful.

1138 AD, Mid-Spring

You receive a letter from the north; Eirika gave birth! The little girly, Cidric's daughter, has been named 'Odiana'.

Few days later rumors reach your ears; two of Cidric's uncles has been jailed for theft of royal property and dealings with Agaresian traders. This has caused some uproar, but mostly amongst nobility, because most of Cidric's subjects were either welcoming or indifferent to the news.

1138 AD, Summer

News come from the west; apparently, after decades of peace, the Tirines has been raided by some horse nomads. They managed to burn down few villages before they were utterly crushed by combined Tirine-Eldrican force.

Also, your managers from Tiftit finally bring great news in a letter.

They have managed to sort out various problems with hurthlings and have adapted their valley for growing of various cereals, predominantly barley and rye. The Hurthlings were eager to get back to their agricultural roots, and soon Tiftit Valley will be a grand breadbasket of Methiant!

1138 AD, Midsummer

A disaster strikes your family; young Yoe, your grandson by Leath and Abis, has fallen ill with the dreaded swamp fever.

Quote

The young boy fights the best and healers prolong his life for almost a week, but finally, exhausted and in pain, your grandson expires.

Leath in particular is shocked; after all, there has been no sickness in royal family for over thirty years, since Sorceress Xaviera Roarecho blessed your family with health and prosperity. Was there a time limit she has not mentioned to your relatives, or mayhaps the reach of the spell is finite?

No matter. The existential dread and fear of disease again creeps into hearts of Yoe's descendants.

1138 AD, Autumn

"Alldivine choirs?" Houlandin crosses his arms on his chest.

"Yes, father. A musical bunch. They chant praises for Alldivines, sometimes for hours. In fact, local Cloisters are looking for a small building with good sound where they could perform for mass audience."

"And? Did they approach you for support?"

"They did." Houlandin nods. "I want to help our brothers in faith, father. I wish to ask you to sponsor construction of closed amphitheatre, a half-circular building of sorts, here in the capital, purely for Alldivine choralists."

A) "Absolutely not, it will be seen as favoritism toward Alldivine faith."
B) "Well, alright. Who knows, maybe I will attend some choral performances myself."
C) "Do they offer anything in return or do they just want some freebies?"

1138 AD, Spring

Shortly after turning of the year, you're approached by the Spymaster.

He has found and compiled an interesting bunch of documents; a census report from 1056, a biographical note on Daen the warrior-philsopher, and pages from a journal of one of co-conspirators of Yoe I. A thorough read gives a thrilling conclusion: Your grandfather was born on the same night on which Daen has passed away!

You could make a divine connection between the two for purposes most divine (and propagandist), you just need to have some people write about this.

You decide to...

A) Have your scribes write a story of divine significance, connecting Yoe to Daen in most mystical of ways.
B) Stash the papers somewhere safe, maybe we can use them in the future somehow.
C) Burn the papers, so that nobody can accuse you of Alldivine favoritism.
