You turn your forces around to save Houlandin.

Your soldiers unfortunately weren't prepared for the charge very well and had again fused with the peasants, creating a bloody melee. That is enough for Houlandin and his horsemen to fall upon their flank!

The peasants are cut down in droves! Their horsemen also fall to the grund or flee, and the rest is being steadily eroded from existence.

Soon you see a potentially dangerous situation - Houlandin is fighting with one other horseman! Mace against a short sword, horses neighing and stomping as their masters try their best to stay in the saddle and to stay alive. They both fight with skills of veterans despite being young...

Then a thought occurs to you - Houlandin's opponent must be San himself!

A) Someone shoot the devil in the head and let's be done with it! Where's a good crossbowman when you need one!?
B) Perfect situation for me to ride in and chop off San's head personally! CHARRRRGGEEE!!!
C) That's my Houlandin! Atta boy, bring me his head, papa believes in you!!

You order a retreat.

Your soldiers disengage most successfully, moving behind the hill after some time. The massed Evalian troops rush toward the hill, where your son Houlandin is fighting!

A) We still need to regroup, and we need time for that.
B) Forward, to glory and to save Houlandin!

You meet enemy forces on the hill, your cavalry's charge led by Houlandin.

Meanwhile, as the battle for the hill rages, your men spot San's troops! They're running toward you and your men, and the battle commences.

Despite the rabble being rabble, they're fighting most brilliantly and with high morale. You don't see this little military genius, San, but you can feel it in your bones that he is leading his troops personally.

That easily shows because your men are losing ground! You order your reservists to come to the frontlines and push the peasants into the ground!

The counter-attack doesn't go well and your flank is about to crumble! You look to the hill; Houlandin has taken it from the looks of it, but you can still see many Evalian cloaks fluttering on the backs of the forces fighting there.

You need to solve your own dilemma without Houlandin's help for the time being.

A) CHAAARRRGGEEE!!!
B) Retreat, retreat! We will fight some other day!
C) Take a step back, then do a regroup, and then we attack again!

You saw nothing. Shoo v;

EDIT: Wait then this voting has no reason, for Houlandin directs one and Cyl then directs the masses. Lemme fix 'v.

You decide to chase down San and his army!

Unfortunately the moment you do so, you're in a valley, surrounded by hills. San's forces turn around, no doubt his scouts notifying him of the pursuit, and currently his cavalry is rushing toward the hillsides!

A) Retreat, retreat! We can't fight like this!
B) Let's try to grab a hill before the bulk of his rabble arrives!
C) Attack, attack! First we knock his detached cavalry, then the insurgent himself!

7822
You decide to take control of the Army for the time being.

Congratulations! Cyl I embarks on another military campaign!

While you're in transit, you receive news that Connan's situation is still bad. While he is alive, healers are doubtful that he will make full recovery, but they're trying all the same.

About five days after receiving the message, you arrive to lead the Army against the insurgents.

Houlandin has managed to reorganize the forces into five thousand strong, whom he supplied with local guards and militia from the northern Felonsine lands. Horses and auxiliaries has also been procured, just in case of prolonged war he says.

Scouts bring reports; San has decided to move his forces along the southern border, and it seems his intent is to actually attack Methiant proper.

A) Fat chance! We will chase him and then smash his peasant rabble into the dirt!
B) Then he is giving us free reign to punish his Evalian 'subjects' for his rebellion!
C) Seems like a good moment to gather even more forces in the meanwhile!

7823
You decide to forgive Connan this time, while you decide to give Houalndin a morale boosting chat.

He seems to pay attention to your words, and you manage to explain it both plainly as well as usefully, that lost eye is nothing bad - because every other part of his body will be sharper to compensate, and thus he has nothing to be afraid to; instead, even better times are coming to him!

Whether he believes you or not, you're not sure, but he decides to help his brother destroy the Evalians and rides after him with his guards and companions.

Several days later you receive news from Eval; several more cities and villages have joined the uprising, flocking to San's banner, easily influenced by his promises of restoring the independence of the Duchy from 'vile Methiantese invaders'.

Tragedy has struck your forces in Eval; not only a major battle was lost, Connan has been gravely injured. According to the report, healers tend to him 24 hours a day while Houlandin is regrouping the forces.

His reports gives dispositions of the rebel forces; many thousand of peasant rabble, but even against 5 peasants with pitchforks and bows a single trained soldier won't last long. He forever swore an oath - he shall return triumphiant or not at all.

A) Foolishness, all this! If Evalians want independence, let's see if we can bring it to the peace table.
B) May the all deities bless the kid in his efforts!
C) It's time I join my sons in this rightful crusade against Evalian insurgents!!

You decide to order that your sons and your Army return from Cydwyl and help deal with the Evalian rebels.

1136 AD, Autumn

Your sons have returned; Connan, against your orders however, decreed that Thundercats against Agaresians, along with some few hundred troops, were to be let in Cidric's care until Agaresians are truly repelled, as minor raids continue.

Houlandin on other hand does not want to go. According to what you've heard from one of his favorite servants and best friends, he is in fact both angry and sad about losing an eye and thus permamently being viewed as cripple till end of his days. Not even the fact that ladies find his eyepatch and thick golden stubble sexy and manly seem to lift his spirits.

As for Cidric's self-governance...

A) It's a reasonable thing to do plus it shows we don't abandon our alliance with Cydwyls, so he can get away with it.
B) Scold him for leaving extremely important part of military in foreigners' hands and away from the important battlefield of Eval.
C) -

As for Houlandin's self-grief...

A) Find him a wife. Nothing soothes man's spirit than a beautiful woman at his side, distracting him during monotony of everyday life.
B) Praise his efforts and give him special military command powers, second only to the Marshal, to boost his self-esteem.
C) Yell at him to go and get his ass working against Evalians, cuz you ain't raisin' no slackers in this house!

"Already? Huh. Let's go then, and hope the rest is as easy as this one." Ethan left his hammock, stretched again and then paced after Ashlyn.

You decide to send money to Lametanians for as long they will need it.

1136, Late Summer

Your sons have scored another victory against Agaresians.

Lametanians, on other hand, are faring rather badly. Their King has been slain, and hastily enthroned Prince Naurin is said to have begun negotiations with the Damdamians.

You have enough problems to deal with on your own; taking opportunity of your Treasury burdened by one thing and your Army being far away, the peoples of Eval has risen up in revolt!

They're led, unsuprisingly, by Prince San; his army numbers about three thousand and while most of it is peasant rabble, there's about thousand swordsmen and horsemen who kept their old armors and weapons polished and oiled just for this occassion. The group has already taken hold of one small city, not far from the ex-Duchy's capital, and are marching northwards.

Your courtiers and officers called a council to address this issue at once. Ultimately, you decide to...

A) Send a messenger to Prince San, offering negotiations.
B) Recall Houlandin and Connan with part of the Army to fight the Evalian insurgents.
C) Do nothing for now, and rely on western garrisons and road patrols to muddle down San and his cohorts.
D) Take the royal guard and fresh recruits and lead them against the rebel scum!!!

7829
You decide to talk some reason to them when they sober.

Your lecture seems to have taken effect, as Leath swore an oath to never try anything stronger than ale, but Abis looks positively dissappointed, albeit she too promises to not indulge in herbal mixtures anymore.

1136 AD, Midsummer

Few skirmishes in the north is all that happens, according to Houlandin's report.

Then your court receives an extremely worrying report from the south - the Empire has invaded Lametania! Apparently some law dispute brought to the courts escalated with help of a round of insults. Margrave of Rucus has gathered support from King of Ebirus and Chancellor of Maxus, and their combined marches are apparently already besieging several border forts and cities in southern Lametania.

If Lametania gets subjugated or annexed, the Empire, its peoples and its faith will have direct and quite wide border with Methiant.

A) We ought to make an excuse and go conquer juiciest bits of Lametania ourselves!
B) Let's secretly send some supplies to Lametania.
C) Let's being a war subsidy campaign to steadily supply Lametanians with arms.
D) Ehhh... let's just not get involved.

"Mmmmm??" The captain stretched in his hammock and looked at Ashlyn.

"What were you saying?"
