"Did you just-"

"Hey Lilian, there's some bastard making fun of your music. Do I gut him or...?"

There are already roads through it with occassional roadside inn, but that's it. They're proposing to enlarge that road network plus make place for new villages v;

You decide to meet with the administrator first.

"Greetings, Emperor! I bring a proposal that I have and colleagues in Tiftif have planned for a while."

He is offering to clear-cut wide swathes of the great Northern Forest. Obviously, many of your courtiers begin voicing their dipleasure with this idea - it is a popular hunting grounds for the nobility, as well as place where many holy sites and shrines of Pantheonist deities have been located for many centuries. Plus one of Pantheonist divine beasts, the White Stag, is rumored to be living there.

Still, the administrator believes that it will only help the Empire in the long run, making place for many new settlements, cutting travel time and boosting travelers' safety, not to mention that who knows what natural riches might be hidden by the thick canopy of the forest trees.

Of course, this is no small task and not a cheap one either; the administrator and his friends calculated that this might take a decade or two (or even more), and obviously the woodcutters, pioneers and other folk will need to be paid on yearly basis.

Ultimately, the decision rests in your hands.

A) About time we make use of the big forest. I shall sponsor the development of new roads and settlements!
B) Both deities and ancestors would be greatly offended if we damage the sacred forest. I cannot possibly support such an enterprise!

You decide to allow both of them to go. You're ready to prepare an explanation for Esta for sending away two of your boys to war - and only make yourself sadder.

1135 AD, Late Summer

You receive a report that Connan, Houlandin and your Army joined fresh recruits of Cidric, who himself is fighting on the frontlines. Rumors have it he has already killed five thousand Agaresians while leading his troops.

Few days later the guards come to your throne room.

"Sire, there is a Battlebrother Evyf, hailing from Parsia, asking for an audience, but there's also administrator of the city of Ogwannynd near the northeastern forest, and he wants an audience too."

A) Let's have a chat with the Alldivine traveller.
B) Time to talk stuff with the administrator.

1. "And the Seventh was Eyes, who started out noble but soon wanted to make everything cozy under a layer of fluffy snow."

2. And this one speaks like "Hey! Don't you see I'm unfinished, punk? Gosh those bay12 people really know no privacy! Shoo!"

"I'm not sure what you bunch really want to do in this backwater, but sure. It seems that for once nobody's chasing us. Few hours loitering around won't hurt anybody." With that, Ethan retreated to his cabin.

You decide that there shall be no rest for the Army as it will go and help Cidric in his war against those damned lizard riders.

Midsummer, 1135 AD

You enter Esta's burial chamber. The body has been placed in a shallow sarcophagus, and most of her body sans face is under cover of velvety blanket (a necessity, said your servants). You smell herbs and flowers and something akin to vinegar in the stale air of the place.

You spend several hours talking to Esta, your vision blurry from tears and your breath shallow. But even a farewell must come to and end and you leave the chamber of undeath for the world of living.

Very quickly your officers step up to you, and both Houlandin and Connan are amongst them.

"Father!" The elder of your sons steps forward. "You had your victory, and you've proven you worth as an Emperor. Can't we have a moment of glory and lead the Army to help our sister and his husband?"

"Yes!" Connan chimes in with his reedy voice. "We will take the veterans and fresh recruits and bring you glory while you can stay and watch over the Empire!"

You decide to...

A) Deny them glory and lead the Army personally into Cydwyl.
B) Be on the safe side and let only Connan to go to war.
C) Proudly allow your sons to participate in their first war in your place.
D) Be on the safe side and let only Houlandin to go to war.
E) Stay with your sons in Methe; your Army's officers will lead the troops against Agaresians.

You give him your demand and he sighs, signing the treaty of surrender. A proper, competent, Methiantese administrator will now rule the lands of Eval for the Methiantese Crown!

Celebratory feast in the afternoon ends quickly because your officers wish to convene with you.

"Sire, do we conclude the campaign and go home, or is there something else on your mind?"

A) "Yes, let's conclude the campaign and go home for well-earned rest!"
B) "No, I've got to see San's bloody corpse first!!"
C) "Yes, let's conclude this campaign, but we have no time to rest, we need to march to Cydwyl at once!"

7854
Unfortunately the regional administrative laws forbid royal family members to rule over autonomous lands v;

(in other words you gotta nepotise and/or feudalise a bit more)

You decide to charge the city.

The fighting is brutal, and the flames surely consume some of your soldiers (along with Evalians). The battle for the capital continues on however, and your men press on.

After a the sun sets, and then rises again, your men bring Caun, Duke of Eval, in shackles!

He is seated before you and you decide to offer him...

A) Chance to start a brand new life as a prosperous and happy vassal of the great Methiant Empire!
B) Safe passage through Methiant wherever he wishes while you will be busying yourself with incorporation of Eval into Methiant!

You decide to sit still while your Thundercats continue bombardment.

It lasts for an hour before a large explosion occurs behind the city wall. Soon, a giant plume of smoke and blaze of fire follows toward the sky. Scouts report various soldiers abandoning the portion of the wall. A storage of Fireblood must've been hit by your engineers or otherwise caught fire.

Few housr later everyone can see that large portion of the capital is on fire. Scouts report that most of Thundercats on the walls are now abandoned, and few soldiers remain on their posts.

You decide it is splendid moment to...

A) Sit down and enjoy some good ale.
B) Send an offer of negotiations to the Duke.
C) Storm the city and take it by force.
D) Show no mercy by bombarding them some more.

You order bombardment of the city, from as far as possible.

It takes a while and the moon climbs high before your Thundercats open fire. After the initial cvolley, the city defenders respond, and then the thunderous exchanges continue.

Although several of your own Thundercats are taken out and a small fire pulverizes one of ammuniton stockpiles, the bombardment continues into the morning.

During the early sunrise, smoke is visible from within the city walls. However, the walls themselves don't look like they suffered more than some chipping off the stone. Few more of your Thundercats had the unfortunate distinction of being flattened by enemy projectiles.

A scout however breaks off your concentration an hour later, just as smoke began to rise from within the Evalian capital.

"Sire, I came as fast as possible! The Evalian militia, horsemen and San's retinue befell the two thousand besieging the northern fortress! The battle has been lost, and while the Evalians took some losses, they are moving towards the capital, in numbers exceeding two thousand"

"And what of the horsemen sent after San?"

"They must've failed or got themselves lost, because San's troops were said to be in prime condition during the attack."

You decide to...

A) Disengage from the siege and march northwards to crush San once and for all.
B) Continue bombardment of the capital, wait in the meanwhile.
C) Pause the artillery bombardment and offer Duke of Eval negotiations once more.
D) Continue bomardment of the capital, send part of forces to confront San, and wait for results here.
