Your orders are taken by the messenger to the capital.

Your Army arrives at the Evalian capital by the next evening, and your scouts bring disturbing news.

"Sire, they're hoisting and loading the Thundercats upon the walls and towers."

"How many Fireblood machines do they have?" The Marshal mumbles partially to himself, but the scouts do have an answer:

"We've spotted at least forty already up there." The war council convenes and your decide to...

A) Besiege the city at range, just to be safe and secure.
B) Bombard it away, even if it means creeping a bit closer.
C) Plan and deploy an attack to breach the walls and take the city by force.
D) Abandon the siege and the war altogether.
E) Attempt another round of negotiations with Caun, Duke of Eval.

The Duke laughs and stands up.

"If that is your goal, oh Emperor, you need to first defeat my armies, capture my capital, and force me." He then turns to his bodyguards and leaves with haste, and so do you.

Upon returning to your camp, the messenger anxiously awaits your answer.

A) Take half of my troops back to Methiant and then, to Cidric of Cydwyl.
B) Ask the council to call an emergency mobilization to provide soldiers for Cidric, with supplies as well.
C) Tell the council to send Cidric some supplies.
D) Tell him to pack up as you are abandoning the war in Eval to deal with more important issues.

Omg d'awwwwww. Look at the lil' guy so proud of himself!

EDIT: How horribly did he die at the hands of angels?

You tell the messenger to remain at your tent, as you will decide on this new crisis after you're done negotiating with Duke of Eval.

At the meeting site, you two dismount from the horses and retreat under the shadow of a nearby oak tree, three bodyguards behind you, three behind the Duke.

"I know what my son has done." The Duke begins, "But that does not gives you the right to walk into my domain and start killing my subjects and soldiers left and right! But fine, I agree that my son's act was worthy a reprisal." Somewhat begrudingly, Caun also agrees that he should pay for his son's treachery.

You decide to ask for...

A) The Duchy to be incorporated into glorious Methiant Empire!
B) A small monetary compensation, just for Targald's vile act alone.
C) The Duke to accept you as his senior and overlord!
D) Yearly tribute for some period of time, to punish the Duke harshly yet fairly.

7866
You leave your horse and approach the tent, where the messenger, clearly tired, is sipping the water. He stops and stands up to greet you immediately.

"Sire! I bring a letter from the council." You open the seal and start reading.

The Kingdom of Cydwyl is under attack! The Agaresians have mounted a large offensive against the eastern settlements, which are poorly protected. King Cidric, on the provisions of the treaty, has sent a call to arms to Methiant, asking for troops and supplies. Because you're in Eval and majority of Methiantese Army is with you, the council members decided to alert you first before any decision is taken.

You decide to...

A) Postpone this until you negotiate with Caun of Eval.
B) Ask them to call an emergency mobilization to provide soldiers for Cidric, with supplies as well.
C) Tell them to send Cidric some supplies.

7867
You agree to the meeting.

The next morning, just as you're about to leave with your entourage, one of your pages arrives.

"Sire, there's a messenger from the capital. He is tired but asks to be allowed to speak with you at once."

A) "Then let him rest, I will talk to him after I'm done with the Duke."
B) "Fine, give him some water and I will meet with him."

The next morning, you send a messenger to the Evalian capital, asking the Duke to come negotiate with you the peace terms. And then you wait.

Two days later, the messenger returns.

"Caun, Duke of Eval, is willing to negotiate. He proposes to meet near the small hamlet of Oweryssad, few hours from here, between us and the capital. He won't come alone, so if you agree to negotiate, he will be bringing hundred fifty of his soldiers for protection."

A) "To try and assassinate me? Ha! Let's resume the advance instead."
B) "And I shall bring my whole army behind my back!"
C) "And I will take few bodyguards to show I'm not afraid of him."
D) "That's fine, and I shall take one hundred fifty as well."

You continue towards the capital.

On the third night, just as your Army is about day's march from the capital of Duchy of Eval, your forces camp for the night. You decide to walk between the troops and chat with the soldiers, who seem enthusiastic about upcoming battle.

Suddenly, as you pass between some tents, you hear a 'caw!' above you and turn your head to the sky. In the same moment, you see a small black bird, a raven probably, passing under the silvery disc of the shining moon.

That's definitely...

A) A feathered emblem of war, a divine sign of assured victory in assault on the capital!
B) A reminder of the prophecy? Should I return east, to my beloved home and family?
C) A messenger bird; surely the sign that I should negotiate with Duke of Eval now.
D) A bad omen... wait, where's my cavalry that went after San and his soldiers??

You order most the cavalry to pursuit the fleeing San and the remnants of broken Evalian forces, while you lead the rest of the army.

Four days later, your scouts report that another group of several hundred militia, with a few dozen horsemen at best, has been spotted a day away westwards from your current position.

A) My thirst for blood must be quenched!
B) Ignore them and continue toward the capital.

7872
You decide to attack the other group.

That happens the next morning; your scouts report that the cavalry that fled the battle yeasterday indeed joined forces with the easternly group, now numbering about 2400. This time, you order the charge of your own cavalry amidst bombardment via Thundercats to avoid having to repulse crazy cavalry charges.

It's obvious that the enemy commander from before is amongst this group, as even the crushing attack is being countered as best as possible. But even with superior leadership, the enemy has too few men to repel the attack. Their ranks wave and break as their soldiers panic and run for their lifes.

Another two thousand of Evalians departed to the afterlife, escorted by about four hundred of your own soldiers, the officers say.

What's possibly the most irritating news of the battle's outcome is that the enemy commander has escaped again. Though his identity is no longer a secret; few officers were caught and they all admitted that their leader is San, the second of Duke's sons and apparently a skilled tactician and fighter since young age.

It seems he fled further east along with whoever survived this particular battle! Another strategic council is held.

As for San of Eval...

A) Ignore him.
B) My horsemen shall hunt him down!

As for the next strategic move...

A) To the Evalian capital!
B) Sit down and rest!

7873
You order the Army against the southern Evalians. The battle commences on the high noon, with the enemy cozily positioned slightly above you on a hillside, allowing them to remain on defensive if they wish.

Part of their cavalry begins with a rush before your Thundercats even start to load, stealing the initiative from your hands!

Quote

Grazing the left flank of your Army, the stampede of horses moves past your soldiers, and engages your cavalry, dangerously near the Fireblood batteries of yours. They hack and slash any that dares step before their wave of steel!

You order a countercharge against the remainder, while your footmen (of which there is a multitude), try to encircle and defeat the enemy horsemen.

Quote
4*, 6*

The countercharge and the encirclement work very well, the latter almost perfectly; the enemy cavalry at their hillside does pose some problems and some of your horsemen are blasted apart by cannon fire that looks and sounds disturbingly alike Thundercats' volleys. The bulk of Evalian cavalry however gets stuck amongst your ranks, and a furious melee ensues.

Quote

Enemy numbers get lower and lower all the time, despite the fact that the cavalry manages to escape from encirclement and rides forth easternly, their numbers low. The hillside battle is quickly resolved; the Thundercats of Evalians are abandoned and what remains of their reserve horsemen flees over the hill.

Shortly after the battle, the bodycount is reported to you; about two thousand Evalians litter the ground, alongside about one thousand hundred of Methiantese soldiers (majorly the footmen who engaged the flanking cavalry of theirs). The Evalian Thundercats have been captured in few numbers, and your engineers will try to determine their make and origin.

Your officers convene with you about the next step.

A) We continue marching towards the capital.
B) We swing easternly to deal with the other Evalian troop.
C) We plop down to rest and recuperate for a day or so.

7874
You decide to simply leave two thousand men to besiege the fortress and keep its garrison tied up while the rest marches toward the capital.

The late evening next day, your scouts bring you news; there are two cavalry units coming from east and south. The southern force is about twice larger than the eastern, and together they number about 4500, 5000 tops. There is little footmen amongst them, although at the back of the southern force, your scouts noticed some Fireblood machinery, although of non-Methiantese design.

A) We have such a superiority we can plop down, let them come, then CRUSH THEM!!
B) Let's deal with the southern force with haste, and the smaller one will run away.
C) Let's crush the small eastern force, then swing southwards to destroy the other.
D) How about we return to the besieged fort and make our camp there?

7875
You decide to meet with this enemy Army.

Two mornings from the terrible evening, the forces of Methiant and Eval meet!

Quote

Your drive to win the war, coupled with artillery support and sheer number superiority lets you smash the Evalians apart. They're encircled, bombarded, charged and ran into the ground in truly glorious display of military tactics. Few survive and escape, while the total of dead and wounded on your side does not exceed three score (unless the officers are trying to cheer you up with false numbers, that's it). Your soldiers and officers proclaim you a 'Master Tactician', but you already have a title that suits you well.

With such tiny amount of losses and such a glorious victory, the Army carries itself toward the capital.

In five more days, the local fortress of Ouva is spotted on the horizon. Located upon a steep hill and with tall towers, it is truly an inpregnable fortress.

A) Besiege it and move on, I've got more than enough troops to do that several times!
B) Bombard its fabled walls to dust, and then storm the insides for supplies and glory!
