Once you pledge to attend your daughter/s and Cidric's marriage, your carriage is packed up and you depart for home, optimistic and believing in bright future for Kingdom of Methiant!

1134 AD, Autumn

"A WHAT!?!"

"A D-d-dragon, m'liege!" The messenger cries his eyes out. "It has swooped in from th'northeast! It has burned down several villages and then descended upon the city of Gebywch, sire! Its demandin' a great tribute of wealth and a fair maiden all for itself, else the dragon will burn the city and its inhabitants to cinders!"

You decide to...

A) Call upon your Army to do some dragonslaying!
B) 'A Kingdom! A Kingdom for a Wizard!'
C) Ride forth and challenge the beast to deadly combat!!!
D) Hire some lvl40+ adventurers to go and slay the mighty lizard!
E) Ignore it, maybe it will get bored and leave on its own?
F) Send a mighty hoard of money and a fair maiden to the dragon to please it.

You agree to have Eirika marry King Cidric. He looks very pleased - and that's apparently a signal for him to resume partying. Much to your frustration, you do not get a chance to talk anything else with him.

Your nobles have had hard time discussing and exchanging rumors with Cidric's courtiers, too; it seems that socializing with foreigners became something not wanted in Cydwyl as of late.

You learn something interesting however; the apparent economical crisis that started in late 1110s is actually continuing. While King Talon has been exceptionally frugal with expenses and has kept the Treasury afloat, people in Kingdom of Cydwyl are complaining, and its neighbours in the north not really forthcoming with aid.

Finally it is time to get home, and the marriage ceremony between Eirika and Cidric is to take place this year's Midwinter, of course at capital of Cydwyl Kingdom.

A) And our entire family will attend!
B) My wife Esta and some courtiers will attend it!
C) Some of my courtiers will go there.

You try to talk about possible family ties and marriage proposals.

Apparently, Cidric is quite smitten with your only daughter, Eirika.

"If you do not wish for her to marry another, I would like her as my queen." He states bluntly after quickly downing a goblet of wine.

A) "Agreed, may she give you many children."
B) "That's not possible, I'm afraid!"

You decide to visit the Kingdom of Cydwyl and mourn the ruler that passed away and get chummy with his son and successor.

Within a week of pleasant, and most importantly, calm journey, you and your entourage are in Cydwyl capital.

You pay respects at the freshly furbished tomb of King Talon. The feast that is thrown by Cidric during his coronation ceremony is an auster and not exactly fitting a King, but apparently it was done on his orders.

And much to your chagrin, he prefers dancing with ladies of the court, be it your daughter Eirika or other beautiful maidens from your entourage. During the feast you don't get much chances with the flax-haired youth to discuss things. But during one of the long hours of the evening, the seemingly energetic King Cidric (he have adopted his own name as regnal name, quite untraditional for the region) finally sits down by you.

Now's a chance! What you will try to talk about?

A) Religion!
B) Military!
C) Family!
D) Trade!

You decide to sponsor the festivities!

It did well to rise the people's spirits. Unfortunately, some of the clerics in other major faiths in Methiant seem to be slightly miffed about Alldivines getting chummy with you (or rather, your money). Luckily, they don't seem to be stirring anything up now.

1134 AD, Midsummer

The courtiers bring up word from tutors about your daughter, Eirika. It seems that, while she does well in various girly and royal studies, she has no particular talent on her own. Nurses and court ladies do mention that she is healthy, having excellent teeth and mild bleeding like clockwork.

1134 AD, Late Summer

Glory to the Yoean dynasty! The heir has a heir; Princess Abis of Parsia gave birth to a healthy baby boy. After some consultation with Leath, she agreed to name him 'Yoe', after your grandfather.

Few days later you get news from the north; King Talon of Cydwyl is dead! Apparently, in his own, arrogant belief that he knows better than many healers, an otherwise mild fever developed into illness of lungs, after he insisted that all he needs is his personal tinctures and brews. After a week of being bedridden, he passed away with 'his head as hot as smoldering charcoals', according to medics.

His son, Cidric, while not very bright, has the heart of a King and is popular with soldiers and commoners, and soon earned the backing of his noblemen and relatives as well. He shall ascend to the throne of Cydwyl within weeks, after he buries his father.

A) Let's be 'amicable neighbour' as his father wished and send him a letter.
B) Alrighty. Now let's move on. Can we move on?
C) Such a tragedy! We should visit Cidric and pay honors to his late father personally.

You decide to allocate the funds to a grandiose project of renovation and repairing of border forts. The Kingdom is large and you have lots of money, so there's no need to count every penny.

1134 AD, Summer

There is a great clamor amongst the populace and not without a reason. Exactly a hundred years ago, the warrior-philosopher Daen first gathered his students in what is now south-eastern Methiant (formerly Ceodwell), to codify and write down the fundamental tenets of Alldivine faith.

Many a nobleman, peasant and clergy (of course) believe that the Kingdom of Methiant should celebrate the centenary of this religious enlightenment, and while numerous cities will sponsor their own festivities, there is opportunity for the Crown to also sponsor feasts and such.

A) Sorry but nope.
B) Absolutely!

You have both artifacts brought to the palace.

1133 AD, Late Winter

They arrive along with the treasures, which are added to the Treasury. The Treasurer estimates that the hoard brought as much money as your mines do in a year!

The Coronation Staff is brought to the vault, and will be used during ceremonies. The Wolf-Fang seems a fine blade, and you give it few swings. It is a good weapon.

Few days later, your diplomats return from Cydwyl and Lametania; their nobles and rulers weren't interested in your glass crafts.

1133 AD, End of the Year

The winter is pleasantly calm and mild this year. As you sip on the mulled wine, the Advisor finds the time to bring the Scrolls of Kingdom Status to your study.

Happiness: 4
Population: 8
Economy: 10!
Army: 8

"My liege! The Treasury is filled with wealth that asks to be spent! To ought avoid reputation of a scrooge, we should spend part of it in some way."

You decide to...

A) Sponsor some glorious celeberations to appease peasants and nobles alike.
B) Commission some grandiose statue to reflect your glory and majesty as King of Methiant.
C) -
D) Refurbish, renovate and repair the royal Palace.
E) Seek the services of a traveling and powerful Sorceress.
F) Fund renovation of border outposts in the Kingdom.
G) Send some gifts to one of our neighbours to strengthen relations.

On your orders, diplomats are sent abroad to find a better buyer for glass items now produced in the east.

1133 AD, Midwinter

Wonderufl news come from the scholar! He has found the royal tombs of Tygwand Dynasty!

Quote

The tombs were proven to be unopened and never touched by a single thief. Chests upon chests of gold, jewels and silver were unearthed along with finely preserved fabrics and even bottles of perfume that had their caps' seals still lasting. The royal officials accompanying him are already inventorying the treasures, which will be soon sent to your palace.

Amongst them is a the Coronation Staff, a gilded oaken staff that has been used by the local kings since the 5th century! It was passed from king to king, from dynasty to dynasty. Held in high-esteem by everyone who wielded it, it was in use until the turbulent times during the fall of Tygwands, when this prestigious royal item was lost.

Even better find is a iron longsword. There is naught of information about this sword besides the fact it was buried along one of last princelings of the dynasty. The craftsmanship is of highest levels - or should we say, craftsdwarfship, as dwarven runes run along the cold blade. Despite the sword being old and scratched, the blade is superbly sharp even more. It has simple shape and seems undetailed, until one looks more closely at the hilt and pommel, where there are numerous miniature etchings. The dwarven runes call the sword as 'The Wolf-Fang'.

Now it is time to decide what to do with all these artifacts!

As for The Coronation Staff...

A) Find a buyer, a relic of such magnitude will fetch us a fortune!
B) Add it to Crown Jewels of Methiant, to increase our prestige and strengthen our reputation.

As for The Wolf-Fang...
A) Let's pawn it to a wealthy merchant, it should sell for a nice price!
B) Bring it to me, this is a weapon fit for a King!
C) Send it back to the dwarves, as a gift.

You decide not to sponsor his plans. The merchant leaves unhappy.

1133 AD, Autumn

Marriage of Leath to Abis is a grand one, and three of her uncles were present as emissaries of King Shapur (he was unable to attend). While Abis seems enthusiastic if not a little nervous, Leath rarely musters a smile. Oh well.

With the wedding pact comes the document of ownership of the glassworks and surrounding settlements, and you provide Abis' uncles with document of shifted ownership of the gold mines and nearby villages and outposts.

1133 AD, Mid-Autumn

News arrive from the west; Tirines were beaten up by Daric III and once again put under Eldrican seniority.

1133 AD, Winter

Silver, part of gold, as well as gemstones arrive in your Treasury.

Quote
2to5

And metals mined in the east provide some profits.

The quality glass items arrive at your palace, too; there is a lot of them, mostly bowls, vases, pitchers and goblets. The Treasurer hums.

"Sire, these are items of lesser quantity, so trading them away is only viable option. Shall we send diplomats to our neighbours in search for a buyer?" You decide to...

A) Sell them to Methiantese nobility.
B) Seek some foreign buyer.

You ask him to tell you about his clients.

He doesn't like to share names so he shares other information.

You're no merchant and he talks a lot. Therefore, you guess he must know his business!

A) Money for him then!
B) No money for him!
C) I want 50/50 split though!
