You decide the best place to host Utvak will be your own palace.

Within two weeks, he arrives at your palace. You quickly learn that he does not speak local language and amongst your courtiers and staff there are few who know the Agaresian language good enough to hold any conversation with him. Already however he seems unimpressed with most things in the palace, including your guards and your women ("soft and like each other, they are").

In the meanwhile the gemstones, silver and gold arrive at your court.

Unfortunately, the local prices for iron and other common metals were low this year and thus your metal mines didn't provide any profits.

1132 AD, Midwinter

Like a Phoenix from the ashes, an old traditional nemesis of the regional warlods, have risen! The Kashite King, Shapur, has, after unitying his peoples and selling Gubta-populated regions in far east to their original owners, crowned himself the King of Parsians, establishing new Kingdom of Parsia. Already he has proclaimed to 'make Parsia great again', and almost whole of his court and subjects pledged loyalty to the old, royal golden falcon that Shapur's courtiers dug out from some old tomb or another.

Your own courtiers are deeply disturbed by this development. In past decades, Gubta, Kashites and Shahshans formed their own brand of warring states which kept Ceodwell safe, but now that this region borders two big players in th east, some worry that war looms over the horizon.

A) We ought to send military east and refurbish old garrisons in Ceodwell asap!
B) Why wage war while we can make friends? Let's send a letter to good and brave King Shapur.
C) This doesn't concern me, at least for now.

There were fur-trading lizard peoples from beyond Gubta to far southeast, then they were underground lizard savages popping up in mountains, and now you have lizard-riding Agaresians from the far north-east.

You order the Army to be deployed into Hurthling valley and defend your little subjects from the scary lizard riders.

1132 AD, Mid-Autumn

Rather quickly you receive a report of a big skirmish between few hundred each of your soldiers and Agaresian raiders. Thundercats worekd well against the lizards even if their riders did take a bite of your peacekeeping force, mostly because Agaresian war lizards seem uncaring for all the heat, smoke and roaring of Thundercats (they still die as easily to them, your officers assure).

1132 AD, Late Autumn

Several smaller skirmishes were won and this time by your footsoldiers and horse riders as there weren't any good reasons to employ the Thundercats against the Agaresians.

You also receive potentially alarming news from the east; King Shapur has won over the Shahshans by the way of slaying their king and his heir in battle, and then marrying the late king's remaining child, a young girl, as his new wife (Shapur's wife died in childbirth a decade ago). He now proclaims himself King of Kashites and Shahshans, as well as Overlord of Waterless Plains.

1132 AD, Winter

Your officers bring excellent news! One of the Agaresian raiding parties was headed by Prince Uvtak, heir to the throne of Agaresia! Knowing just how fat of a catch they've got, the officers responsible for his capture already moved him deeper into Hurthling lands under heavy guard.

They ask you now what to do with Uvtak.

A) Execute him, to show that you have no mercy for those who wrong your subjects.
B) Send an offer of ransom to the King of Agaresians.
C) Have him brought to your court so you can mayhaps have a talk with him.
D) Have him brought to your dungeons, just in case you find an use for him later.

You approve of the research but demand that they perfect it before your Army gets anywhere near those flame-spewing tubes.

1132 AD, Autumn

A call for help comes from Hurthlings and your magistrates! The fierce and savage Agaresians, on their fearsome war lizards, has begun to show on the northeastern corners of the Hurthling valley. They are capturing Hurthlings for slavery, and they don't seem too picky when a Methiantese colonist or official gets caught amongst the midst.

The Hurthlings mention that between Kashites and Trolls (now hopefully extinct), these Agaresians are yet another group of 'big-uns' determined to cause them harm and despair, like in the times of old.

A) That's bad for Agaresians because Hurthlings happen to be my subjects now! Thundercats, roll out!
B) They will snatch some people and wander off, not a big deal (for me, at least).
C) Grinding letter-writing skill didn't go to waste, let's open communications with Agaresians to explain some things, and fast!

You order the Marshal to send some Army units into the cities and the roads to maintain peace and order.

While there has been few incidents which ended in arrests, the zealots quieten down when the state does some sabre-rattling the soldiers show up on the streets. Only time will tell if that's permament.

1132 AD, Summer

The time for the big presentation is here! On a warm, sunny day, the courtiers, army officers and most of your family gathers on the palatial courtyard, where several test objects are gathered - some hay scarecrows, a set of steel armors, a hastily built brick-and-timber shed and some wild pigs in a enclosure - and then the engineers begin the test! The iron tubes suck in part-liquid, part-paste Fireblood and then blow it off int a stream of orange flame jet that, instead of turning into ash and smoke, instead smolders upon the scarecrows, engulfing them very quickly.

Quote

An incident however occurs, when one of the tubes inexplicably explodes. The burning liquid Fireblood coats several young alchemists and engineers, sending them away shrieking as their bodies inevitably and terryfingly fast turn into charcoals, many an attendant panicking. It is a gruesome but effective proof of the tubes' usefulness.

That shrieking though. That shrieking, man.

A) This is utterly horrendous! Stop this savage research at once!
B) Oooh, I like these fires going up! Time to include these in our armed forces!!
C) Those are fine but please fix them so they don't explode?

You agree to have a presentation arranged.

1132 AD, Spring

It has been quiet for too long, some of your courtiers murmur.

Zealotry amongst 'theists' of Methiant is on the rise. A theological dispute got out of hand and now the 'true' Methiantese are riled up and riling up fellow citizens against the 'eastern scum' that are Alldivines and the Enyntheists, the former in fact preparing their own militants within their old keeps and castles their Cloisters occupy.

A) Obviously, the philosophical movements are at fault for this! We ought to curb Enyntheist and Alldivine influences.
B) Obviously, the deistic religions are to be blamed! We gotta throttle the influences of Singularism and Pantheonism.
C) Someone here is clearly thinking themselves too strong. It's time the throne clips the wings of the various prominent cults and remind them who's in charge of Methiant peoples!
D) And that's not my concern.
E) I think it's time to declare Alldivinism as true religon of Methiant to show them who's boss here!
F) Just have the Army strengthen the garrisons of cities and increase patrols on the road to dissuade any religious violence from popping up.

You decide to sponsor the extra year of festivities.

*KZZZZT*

Now, that the messenger from the mines is gone, you can meet with the Alchemists.

"Greetings, my liege! We bring joyous news! Years of our research on hand-held version of Thundercats finally brought fruit. It is a small enough tube that can be carried and operated by two men and which launches a ball the size of one's head, but unfortunately that isn't as useful as we've thought, and various military commanders are rather skeptical of its field effectivenes."

"However we've been testing various concepts and Fireblood formulas and by accident we have stumbled upon certain group of mixes that ignites and burns for long time. One in particular kept the fire going and was very hard to extinguish. 'Now this', say the officers, 'is something we can use to burn down things!'. We would like to have a demonstration of the invention with you attending, sire, by the next Summer perhaps?" You decide that...

A) A demonstration would be lovely!
B) You have no time for this foolishness.
C) This isn't what you want! Get me handheld guns!!

You decide to ignore the birdmen, and inform the overseer to have his men simply avoid the higher altitudes.

1131 AD, Late Winter

The Army officers proudly announce that your son Houlandin has innate martial skills, and fights with mace and hammer as good as a trained soldier, and he even shows hints of being a natural-born commander.

Few days into the season, your grandmother Auga dies in her sleep at the very venerable age of 75; she has outlived many of her children and grandchildren, and rarely interfered in matters of governance after your father's ascension, yet fortunes still allowed her to see a great-great-grandkid.

You receive a report from the city administrators; the policy of festivities and lowered taxes had positive impact on the populace, further mellowed by your decision to help with the autumnal harsh weather.

1131 AD, End of the Year

The Advisor arrives with the Scrolls of Kingdom Status in his hands.

Happiness: 4
Population: 8
Economy: 4
Army: 7

You nod in approval; things have improved and the Kingdom is back on its way to glory! The Advisor coughs to get your attention.

"The people's loyalty and contentness with your glorious rule seems to come harder these days than wealth for the Treasury - mayhaps it would be prudent to extend festivities for another year, my liege?"

A) "More parties? Count me in!"
B) "Nope, they had enough!"

The Advisor also spreads out a large map - you immediately recognize it is the Royal Map of Neighbouring Lands and Kingdoms.

"As you see, your Majesty, the royal scribes also had enough time at their hands and knowledge gathered to finally update the royal map. Take a look, if you so desire."

You decide to meet with the messenger first.

"My lord! Our mines have been attacked by some perfidous bird-people!" That's a first.

"The miners were searching higher in Tvenn mountains for new deposits when these men and women with heads of eagles descended upon them. A brief struggle happened and some miners were wounded and killed, along some birdmen. Few sneaky scouts went to find their dwellings and indeed, they live in primitive stone huts high in Tvenn mountains, but the buildings seem newly built to the scouts." As the birdmen didn't descend upon the mines and seem rather content at their heights, the overseer considers abandoning the upper mountains to the birds.

A) Let's hire some adventurers, maybe level 20+, to deal with this birdman infestation.
B) Where's a Wizard!? We're powerless against magical killer birdmen without a Wizard!
C) Time to send the Army on some pest removal!
D) No need to venture up if we're digging up, we can ignore the birdmen. Maybe they will do the same.
E) Mountain dwellers, huh? Let's send some bribe money to the dwarves and ask for expertise, they sure have met those birdmen in their lives.

You sprinkle the bemoaning nation with monies.

1131 AD, Winter

Mines across the Kingdom - gemstone, silver and gold - bring in profits to the Treasury per usual. With the gold from Ceodwell came also a letter, signed by Ysirene diplomats, in which they consider the 'deal' you had with them fulfilled and therefore their lord will no longer acquire part of gold bullion.

Quote

Various metals mined in area reclaimed by Zasitost dwarves also brought profits.

1131 AD, Midwinter

Your wife Esta gives birth to another boy! The little fella with extremely loud voice was given the name 'Saenn'.

Few days later, you're informed by the Advisor that the Royal Alchemist and his engineers wish for an audience, the group visibly satisfied, but there's also the palace guards, saying that a messenger from Tvenn silver mines have arrived, saying its urgent.

A) Nothing is more urgent than Fireblood research! Bring in the alchemists.
B) Urgent news require urgent attention! Let the messenger inside.
