You decide to ask King Daric help repair your relationship with the dwarves. He laughs a little.

"Dwarves don't even pretend to be modest. They're as capricious as easily bribed. Just send them money. My father did that three times after three different incidents and the dwarves were back to being amicable neighbours in no-time." You try to ask him to be a mediator though.

Unfortunately, he doesn't believe that your problems are his problems, and advises you to go and fix it yourself using the methods he prescribed.

You decide to swtich topics. What's the next thing you want to talk about?

A) Marriages and family ties!
B) Religious discussion!
C) Trade agreements!
D) Military matters!
E) ...Actually, let's just resume partying.

You decide to talk with King Daric about the dwarves.

Very quickly you learn some very important things. The dwarves and Kingdom of Eldrican has had strong mercantile ties since the fall of the various nomadic Khanates in the previous centuries. Much or Eldricanese wealth comes from selling various quality crafts and foodstuffs to the dwarven fortresses dotting the Eldrican border.

King Daric even mentions that his noble father sometimes let out his frustration at your treatment of dwarves, and destruction of one of their citadels, and only because of family ties and good relationship with Methiant, King Elran refused to take sides.

You decide to...

A) Promise to lay off any violence against the Dwarves if that will improve relationship between Methiant and Eldrican.
B) Try to persuade King Daric to see just how violent, unstable and asshole-y the dwarves are.
C) Ask King Daric to help you repair the relationship with dwarves, hopefully by putting you in touch with their mountain leaders.
D) Quietly move on to other topics without saying much.

You mention that there's Kashites who might be interested in the cloth, and they live behind eastern border of Methiant.

King Daric rubs his bearded chin.

"I will have to speak with my merchants and advisors, after the feast." You agree that that's a good idea and move on to other topics.

You mention that years in the past your Kingdom had a trade deal, Fireblood ingredients in exchange for money-

"Apologies, our mines aren't what they used to be, and we use the minerals for our own siege engines." Didn't hurt to try.

*Now before we move on to othe part of the feast, there's quite few topics that could be discussed with King Daric and there's one that's currently most important for you... What would it be?

A) Marriages and family ties!
B) Military matters!
C) The dwarves!
D) Trade agreements!
E) Religious discussion!

Fortunately, no one else bothers you and through the Koi you arrive in Eldrican six days later.

1130 AD, Late Summer

You offer your prayers to the grandiose tomb of Elran III. It is obvious that Daric III was generous to the masons and artisans, as the marble-and-silver sarcophagus laying in a small 'chamber' of tall columns is truly breath-taking.

After that, Daric III shows his generosity as a host and launches a great feast for you, your family and your courtiers.

Very quickly you notice that your son Ustwelf seems to have 'glued' himself to a certain blonde maiden on Daric's side of the table, who seems to be around Ustwelf's age. A quick inquiry with one of Daric's advisors and you learn her identity - it is Deanna, Daric's niece. Her family got into a mess with some unscrupulous shady characters, and that resulted in a blaze that consumed her family house and all her relatives few years ago; since then she was living in the royal palace. She herself is fifteen and is known to have a polite character and aptitude for poetry.

Once the festivities go into their fourth hour, you decide to speak with Daric III on politics, and he is eager to contribute.

"My eastern friend," he begins, "I'm afraid to say that my merchants and my Treasurer aren't quite happy with the money they're making from this trade deal of ketton cloth we send to your Kingdom. I'm afraid that I will have to cancel this agreement."

You decide to...

A) Nod in agreement.
B) Try to negotiate better prices for Eldrican merchants.
C) Mention that King Shapur of Kashites in the east have shown interest in this cloth a while ago.

You decide to meet with the peasants and address them.

It's, of course, about how Methiant has lately become a pot of trouble under your 'auspicious' rule, and nothing more. You decide to talk to them.

A thrown rock gives you a cut on the forehead and as the guards pull you away, one of the officers orders swords drawn. A minor skirmish occurs and there is about twenty casualties, including two guards, before the rest of the mob flees. Your wound is superficial, and one of the courtiers quickly lessens the cut with some medicinal liquid.

The courtiers in charge of the procession quickly meet with you.

"This unfortunate yet bloody accident will surely become common knowledge soon. Shall we put some extraordinary measures to prevent your Highness be harmed again?"

A) "Of course! Send armed soldiers to villages on the way to the border!"
B) "That will be not necessary, but I sure won't meet with any peasant 'delegations' again!"
C) "Don't you see how I look? Our reputation would be ruined if we show up in Eldrican like this. We're going back to the palace!"

You decide to visit the capital of Eldrican personally to pay tribute to Elran's leadership.

As the horses file out of the palace, carrying you, your family, courtiers and guards, you think momentarily about how lengthy the rule of Elran was, and of course one can't forget Queen Dogethe who was in power since the days of your grandfather Yoe I.

A week later, while your group is moving through the western part of Methiant, your forward guards fly back to you.

"Sire, there's an angry mob in the nearest village! They seem bent on intercepting you and listing their grievances to you!"

A) "We will evade them, I don't want my wife to be troubled."
B) "Lead them here then, I will talk to them."
C) "Take some soldiers and make sure the villagers behave as we move past it."

This one song on the radio got stuck in my head and I've already spent an hour looking for it, I'm getting desperate to remove it.

The things I know for sure that it was French (words like 'la vie' keep popping in my head), had a male lead singer, and a chorus that sung the refrain(s) with him.

The melody was somewhat electronic-y? Something you would find in late 80s/early 90s maybe, maybe a bit later.

And the refrains were strange; it wasn't like they were singing something, but rather reciting a block of text in a rhythm.

Anyone? Halp?

You decide that Leath and Ysa will marry, despite all possible objections to this scandalous plan.

1130 AD, Mid-Spring

A small ceremony there is for marriage of Leath and Ysa. The two are absolutely lost in each other's eyes, and you hear that Ysa is a feisty troublemaker but friend of all peoples that accompanies well Leath's taught propriety and charisma.

Though the scandalous marriage of a heir to the throne with a lowly commoner girl does not escape the attention of your subjects, unfortunately. Many governors, officers, priests and nobles voice their utter disgust with the decision, and many openly wonder whether you are fit to govern! Those voices are quieted down by your diplomats and envoys, but it's obvious that that happiness and stability of Methiant took a deep plunge.

1130 AD, Late Spring

You hear that King Shapur launched a campaign against the peoples of Shanshan. Apparently his goal is to reclaim lands lost to their rivals few decades ago. Not surprising, this.

Also, tutors and advisors likewise, have little praise for Ustwelf; he didn't excel in any of the fields of study that your courtiers tried to entice him with. All that can be said about him is, perhaps, that he is lucky, having narrowly escaped several standard childhood accidents that would leave others wounded or maybe even crippled.

1130 AD, Summer

There's a major reform going up in the north; apparently, the shrewd King Talon of Cydwyl has long been uspet at the state of royal bureaucracy in his Kingdom, even long before his venerable mother's death, and took it upon himself to change things. Even now, rumors say that many old, corrupt, or both, officials and tax collectors are being imprisoned or executed for their laziness, briberies or even treacheries while regiments of educated youths thake their place under new scheme of bureaucratic organization.

It will take a while to kick in, but Cydwyl's interior policies might finally rise to be equal to its glorious conquests of past decades.

1130 AD, Midsummer

Sad news reach your palace on an otherwise lovely midsummer day - Elran III, King of Eldrican, has passed away after a friendly duel with one of his courtiers ended in a wound; the wound was sealed but an infection kicked in, and Elran's body, already in its late sixties, succumbed to fever after three day fight against it. His son and heir, Edin, has become the new King of Eldrican, taking on regnal name of Daric III, and people say he's a skilled duelist and renowned military leader.

While your wife Esta is bawling her eyes out (even after being comforted by you and the kids), you decide that you should...

A) Visit the glorious country along with your family and pay respects to Elran III's grave.
B) Send a delegation of courtiers who will pay respects to Elran III's grave.
C) Send a letter of condolences to Daric III.
D) Move on to more important things.
