Are other things relative as well? Like now that we're twice as big, is our army also going to be twice as large at the same number, since we're attracting the attention of the big boys with all this expansion, it'd be nice to be able to punch at their level as well.

I ought to start scaling that up too, huh? Soon, yes.

You decide not to interfere with the natural order of things.

1128 AD, Mid-Spring

Your wife gives birth to a healthy baby boy! She names him 'Eivan' after a heroic warlord popular amongst commoners of the early 11th century.

1128 AD, Late Spring

Tutors of your twin sons, Leath and Tywynn, are pleased to announce that the two boys are showing promise of being great rulers. Leath is a charismatic young fellow with some skill with lute and bard's feather, while Tywynn shapes up to be a master of martial arts, especially spear-and-shield fighting as well as troop leading.

1128 AD, Summer

The annual caravan of ketton cloth arrives at the capital. Per your promise to Shapur, it is re-packed and then sent eastwards under your soldiers' guard to the Kashites.

Few days later, it seems that a champion barbarian of sorts have arrived at your capital. Calling himself 'Undar the Deathless', he issued a challenge to all who feel worthy; the man who bests him will receive his full-gold necklace, claymore forged of pure dwarven steel and the plate armor adorned with highest quality elven lacquer plates - items he earned from over twenty years of traveling and questing and fighting.

Of course, the duel is to the death.

Much to your wife's horror, Tywynn boasts aloud he himself is worthy of dueling this 'Undar'!

A) Tywynn ain't going because I'm going myself!!
B) Is the kid mad? He ain't going to challege Undar, so speaketh myself!
C) Sure, I have high hopes in Tywynn martial skills - and think of prestige we earn from victory over this traveling champion!

I'm surprised we didn't get any population from the halfling lands or Ceodwell.

I'm actually dividing the population by amount of land. Thickly populated small lands = big population. Vast lands with sparse settlements = small population. Neither Hurthlings nor Ceodwells had any metropolises going (nor unhabitated wastelands) around so the population score remains stable until some baby boom/bubonic plague/something else kicks in.

You decide to not raise the taxes.

1128 AD, Spring

Apparently the mixture of beliefs and philosophies that is Enyntheism is far more popular than anyone thought previously.

This spiritual movement since the Council of Luathbas has gathered tens of thousands of adherents thorough your whole Kingdom. Even today young acolytes of Singularism or practicants of Pantheon discard their veils and robes and seek spiritual and intellectual enlightement amongst the Enyntheists. This cult has reached so much attention (and support from important people) that Enyn has been declared 'The First Master' and has apparently founded the headquarters of the faith in the city of Feinn in far west of Methiant, in the lands that were once Kingdom of Felonsein.

A) That's a bit too much and too fast for my liking. I ought to curb this revolutionary movement!
B) Hey, it's a faith just like many others. If they're successful, that's not my problem.
C) Truly, the Enyntheism *the* new, true faith of Methiant peoples. I should support it myself!

You have the Spymaster conduct an investigation on this whole rumor and scandal.

Quote

Some sneaking and shadowing later, the agents of the Spymaster bring you their report; apparently, another youth called Dadainn, who was spurned by Esta for rejecting his advances, decided to spin up the rumor.

Your wife later recalls with a blush that she has forgot about that one because since you left, many young noblemen wanted to be friends with 'the most beautiful woman of Methiant', often in hopes of expanding their influence in the court and boast about having 'connections', and she has forgotten the names of few insignificant ones.

The lawmasters easily pull enough charges against the young nobleman to warrant him a lovely stay in royal dungeons.

1127 AD, Midwinter

Gemstones, silver and gold bullion arrives in the Palace.

The metals bring some profits to the Treasury as well.

1127 AD, End of the Year

Finally, you can read the Scrolls of Kingdom Status by yourself in the coziness of your bedroom while your wifey is knitting some extra very small socks.

Ah here is the Advisor.

Happiness: 5
Population: 8
Economy: 3

"Our Treasury is emptying, my liege. Shall we raise the tax for a year mayhaps?"

A) "Sure."
B) "Nope."

You decide to vouch for Esta's innocence, and the courtiers grumble and murmur while Esta hugs your knees and delivers kisses upon your royal hands.

Though in the afternoon, you give the whole scandal a second thought.

A) Nah, really, it's nothing.
B) Maybe I should have someone dig up around Esta's activities.
C) Maybe some snooping around my courtiers is required.

You pledge to send the ketton cloth of the next year straight into hands of King Shapur. The envoys thank you profusely and leave.

1127 AD, Winter

Scandal in the court! What has first happened as a rumor now is believed a truth by the majority of your ocurtiers.

Apparently, some maid or other servant saw your beloved wife, Esta of Eldrican, with some young and dashing man at least twice during your last year's absences, feeling rather happy and joyful around the young man, positively identified as Aóndach of Aónwalf, a small hamlet that once laid at the border with Donuth. Since then, she has been seen in company of few other young men, enjoying poetry and literature with them, each vying for as little as a stare to soothe their hearts.

Courtiers believe Esta has cheated upon you, while your wife, in tears, swears that she has done nothing wrong and has no better proof to give than the fact she has been faithful to you and gave you many children.

Your courtiers urge you to give your judgement on this scandalous affair while your wife weeps her eyes out at this shameless accusation of your courtiers. Ultimately, you turn to your wife and say:

A) "Everybody knows that you love me baby, that you've been faithful."
B) "Everybody knows there were so many people you just had to meet... without your clothes!"

You agree to the deal, and the diplomat leaves in a huff.

1127 AD, Midsummer

The ketton cloth arrives and pays for itself, but that's all.

1127 AD, Late Summer

Speaking of ketton cloth, there are few trade envoys from the Kashites.

"Greetings, King Cyl! Our newest master, King Shapur V, has heard that your traders have access to this sturdy ye soft and warm cloth, what is the word for it, 'ketton'? Shapur has been long since looking for new fabric to sew into our soldiers' uniforms, and this cloth could be just what he needs. Can we ask that you give us a load of this fabric to take with us, so that King Shapur himself might determine if its worth his notice?"

You mention to them that this year's caravan has already arrived and the cloth has been sold. That doesn't quell their enthusiasm.

"Next year, perhaps?" You decide to...

A) Send the next year caravan of cloth to the Kashite Kingdom.
B) Demand discussion on monetary reward first.
C) Deny the Kashites and King Shapur the fabled ketton cloth.

You agree to the demands of Gubta Emperor and let the envoy take the money. He accepts this but it is obvious he is rather angry about something.

Then the envoy from Margraviate of Ysirene is let in.

"Greetings, Cyl of Methiant! I'm here to announce that the Margrave of Ysirene has decided that the gold mines once owned by Calahan III of Ceodwell will be returned to you, provided you will send half of the gold bullion processed there to the Margrave's treasury for next five years."

A) "Fine, we will be profiting from this anyway."
B) "Can't we negotiate something else?"
C) "That mine is mine, and he better gives it back!"

You decide to reach some sort of agreement. It turns out that Calahan III has written down a contract with the Gubta as 'King of Ceodwell' rather than using his regnal name to sign the papers. The Gubta, ever feeling exploitative, tried to impose the treaty on Ansbach (but he died, funny how that happens sometimes), and now are pursuing the closest they have to King of Ceodwell - and because Ceodwell is now yours, the Gubta decided to bother you.

Apparently, most of the money has been paid off, but there are still some leftovers, over which you try to negotiate.

You believe you might've accidentally insulted the Gubta Emperor himself during the negotiations. Pray heavens that the emissary, who stubbornly demands the full remainder of the debt to be paid, doesn't report that to his master.

Oh, the remainder of unpaid debt is equal to yearly amount of taxes Methiant acquires due to its high headcount as of late.

A) Fine, we can pay that.
B) That's too much, buzz off!

You decide to meet with the Gubta emissary first.

The fat man in opulent robes storms into the throne room.

"King Cyl of Methiant! The Emperor of all Gubta demands to be paid!"

"Why should we pay him anything?" The Advisor asks, stirring up the Gubta even more.

"Kingdom of Ceodwell has a debt to us for services of our mercenaries and most importantly, services of our Oliphaunts that cannot be so easily replaced! The Emperor says there shall be consequences if the remainder of the money in the agreement is not sent this year."

A) "Let's not be too hasty here, shall we mayhaps reach some sort of agreement?"
B) "He had dealings with Kingdom of Ceodwell, and that Kingdom is no more. Begone!"

8080
Smillington adjusts his glasses.

"Not really. But Sir Rusewell believes that such a mission in the Albionese countryside would do good to evaluate the competency of our humble organization, something I'm willing to agree with."

You strip the peoples of Ceodwell from their independence and annex the Kingdom to your holdings!

Congratulations! Cyl I successfully concluded the campaign!

You return triumphiant from Ceodwell and spend few days celebrating as well as rewarding the military officers.

1127 AD, Summer

But few weeks later, the guards arrive in throne room, announcing that you have two guests; one is an envoy from Gubta Empire, and the other from Magraviate of Ysirene, and neither looks extremely pleased, the Gubta one especially so.

A) Let's talk with the Gubta first.
B) Let's talk with the Imperial first.

8082
That's a full roster then.

The Charter also speaks of the facilities: Aerodrome, where the six-seat Smokemountain Plus aeroplane is kept; Laboratory, where science can be done; Factory, where machines can be made and repaired, and Campus where all the daily activities are done, from dining to exercising to book-reading.

The additional addition to this ever-adding list is Sir Edward Smillington, a small man in his early 40s with spiky nose and large spectacles. Dry tone and ability to deliver boring lectures is his forte. He is the 'mission control', securing deals with whomever it is there to seek the services of MIDASS.

2nd September 1925 AD

Oh boy, a phone call can be heard from Smillington's office! Is this a call for work?

"Yes it is." Smillington adjusts his glasses as he steps to the too-large-for-him podium to deliver the briefing.

"Lady Annotolette Baskethome of Chudich has been recently getting spooked by a wild dog in the forests around her house. While stray pet control is not our job, Lady Annotolette has also mentioned some bizarre events of occult to happen at her home, namely furniture 'coming to live' and 'old family graves' defaced when the dog barking can be heard in the woods. After brief consultation with Lord Governor of Science Society, Sir Theodore Rusewell, we've agreed to solve this mystery." The small man adjusts his glasses and looks at the group.

"Any questions before we do the inventory management?"

You decide to order an attack on the capital!

Quote
5*

Your Army officers didn't account for the citizens of the capital to take on arms in defense of their King! Although that wasn't enough to stop your conquest.

On the dawn of the third morning, King Ansbach is dead, the garrison surrendered and the flag of Methiant flutters above the Ceodwellian palace! If only the city wasn't a cross-patch of ruins, smoldering ruins and hastily dug mass graves.

A) And the banner shall stay up there, because I'm adding Ceodwell to my Kingdom!
B) It is time for the nobles of Ceodwell to swear loyalty to throne of Methiant!

You order bombardment of the city.

Quote

It takes less than a day for the walls to be smashed, the houses near them crumpled and smoke to rise from the districts of the proud city.

By the next evening, your officers wonder if they're allowed to assault the city now.

A) Sure thing, bring me the head of Ansbach while you're at it.
B) Naw; you see, that's when you do the diplomacy thing.
