You decide to resume marching to the capital city of Ceodwell.

1127 AD, Late Spring

And finally, unopposed bar few skirmishes with roving bands of Ansbach loyalists, your Army arrives within hours of the capital city!

The officers ask for the course of action, Your Majesty!

A) Bombard the city and let's be done with it.
B) Besiege the city, and let's hunger do its work.
C) Call for negotiation, and let's reach an agreement.

Try a new game of mine, will ya?

You decide to set camp and send out scouts and agents to gather information.

By the next day, the men sent forward return. Apparently, this is not Ceodwell's soldiers anymore but a rebel bunch! One of agents was able to contact a man amongst the rebels. The group is led by one man calling himself Baron Augardar, and he has, under false pretense, obtained some money from Ansbach and is currently running with his loyal men and family northwards as he heard that Kingdom of Cydwyl is sponsoring settlement of The Wildlands and that's just a place to create a fief for oneself.

Other scouts provided numerical details on Augardar's troop; it's eight hundred or so in numbers, but most of the riders are lightly armed squires and servants, and only about hundred are trained and well-equipped soldiers.

A) Splendid! An aristocrat we could install on throne of Ceodwell when we win! We ought to negotiate with Augardar at once!
B) Tis a fine ruse, but an obvious trap! Time to crush those 'rebels' before they stab us in the back!
C) This means they're of zero concern of us. Let's continue to the capital and finally claim what's ours!

EDIT: Forgot to include the roll, that's fixed 'v.

TL,DR; When Spamkingdom rules meet with Steampunkish RPG of sorts with all the fantasy stuff tossed in because why not?

God Save the Empress!

In the year 1925 AD, the Albion Parliament has, acting upon the decree of the Imperial Family, proclaimed creation of a new branch of the Albionese Science Society - the Mystic Detectives.

These young and old men and women shall investigate the reports of unearthed haunted tombs, vague wyvern sightings, dwarven automata appearances and occassional smuggling operations of the perfide Xin easterners to ensure that the Empire is safe from external threats both mystical and mundane!

The copy of the Parliamentary Charter includes first five names on the list!

Name: Your character's name.
Biodetails: At least gender and age.
Trait: Charismatic, Wise, Martial, Healthy, Lucky
Occupation:
*Aeronaut: Licensed to pilot an aeroplane or zeppelin.
*Botanist: Pretty much the best person to examine and recognize exotic plants and trees.
*Empiricist: Mostly doing laboratory work, although not safe from dreaded field trips on occassion.
*Grenadier: Finely trained in use of guns, explosives and weapons.
*Linguist: Learned in various languages, both human and non-human.
*Machinist: Able to operate and repair machines and ancient artifacts of engineering.
*Nurse: Here to keep fellow Detectives alive and well (or, at least, try to accomplish that).
*Socialite: Helps this rag-tag bunch of misfits get in touch with the very important people.
*Spiritualist: Person dedicated to mysterious phenomena and supernatural research.

The Parliament and the Imperial Family have high hopes in the efficiency of MIDASS, and will reward honest work and successful developments with higher budget, allowing for grander selection of vehicles, expansion of MIDASS' complex and even increasing the roster from five to more!

But who are the five Mystic Detectives?

Spoiler: MIDASS Roster (click to show/hide)

You lead your Army northwards to intercept or catch up with the horsemen.

Five days of traveling later, your scouts report that the horsemen have camped half a day away at the Plains of Abur, where foundations of ancient ruined fortress stick out from between the bushes and boulders that characterize this sparsely populated land. You decide to...

A) Camp out and gather information for now.
B) Go forth and fight against the enemy.

You decide to push for the Ceodwell's capital!

A week later, your Army is more than halfway past the way, when your scouts bring you news; a thousand and something strong troop of Ceodwellian soldiers, mostly horsemen, is half a day travel to the north. They seem to be heading toward the border rather than to fight your forces.

You host a council with your officers about how to proceed.

A) We ought to change course and induce a fight with them to further cripple Ansbach's army.
B) Can't be bothered with some remnants, let's continue against the capital as intended.
C) Mayhaps we should camp around here and gather further information first.

You send for supplies and reinforcements while the Army camps in and around the fortress.

1127 AD, Spring

A courier brings you the copy of Scrolls of Kingdom Status so you can check on how the country is doing while you're away.

Happiness: 6
Population: 8
Economy: 5
Army: 4

He also informs you that supplies and more than thousand fresh troops is on their way to join you.

1127 AD, Mid-Spring

The fresh troops and supplies join your Army.

Meanwhile, your agents and scouts learned quite a bit about situation in Ceodwell; King Ansbach have failed to pay the money to the Kashite King as well as Margrave of Ysirene in the Empire for the services of their mercenaries, and both nations have raided his lands; the Kashites burned down several farming settlements and captured several hundred peasants as slaves while the Margrave's forces captured the gold mines in far south that were the cornerstone of Ceodwellian economy in recent years (the Margrave is said to promise to return them after three years, but who knows how much his word is worth).

A) This is great opportunity to strike! Onwards, to the capital!
B) Time to offer King Ansbach a peace offer he cannot refuse!

You unsheathe your sword and, riding your horse forward, drive a charge into the courtyard, with dozens of loyal horsemen yelling and charging after you!

Quote
7!*

The charge stomps the enemy mercenaries and soldiers, and soon the remainder flees before the fearsome rush led by you. Some spearmen at the tunnel into the inner keep try to stop you but soon they get hoof-full to the face.

After you, the brave Methiantese soldiers, at least those not immediatelly preoccupied, rush into the inner keep. The battle is messy and your clothes are soaked red with blood of fallen enemies. Then you and your horsemen dismount and the fighting takes to the steps of the keep and then its corridors, your body tired yer spirit soaring towards victory. You hack and slash at those who come against you, and none of them lives enough to postpone your glorious assault.

By the morning of the next day, the red stag on green field is fluttering above the keep, as its soldiers and officers lay down their swords. Your own soldiers applaud you as the bravest commander that Methiant had in its history. Over a thousand of Methiantese have perished in the assault, but losses amongst the garrison were almost thrice higher.

Few days later, your officers bring you joyous news; the crews of the border forts surrendered once the news of the fall of this mighty fortress reached their ears. They ponder if a charge against the capital city should be made, to capitalize on the conquest.

A) Nay, we rest and recuperate in safety of this mighty fortress for a week or so.
B) Nay, first we need to send for supplies and reinforcements to Methiant, this might take some time.
C) Yes, that's what we shall do! Onwards to glory and victory!!

You personally rouse your men to keep on advancing into the fortress, to capture it and destroy the enemy troops!

Quote

Unfortunately, this doesn't help much. Corpses continue to wet the cobblestone and dirt red with blood, but no real progress is made.

A) We ought to abandon the assault and retreat!
B) CHAAARRRGEEEEE!!!

You decide an assault is in order!

The men prepare themselves in the same time the engineers prepare Fireblood machines and the ammo.

Quote

Due to the skillful use by your engineers, the gate to the fortress is smashed apart with only three volleys! The large iron doors collapse inwards, and the assault can begin!

This fortress was the place the enemy reinforcements were hiding - you learn as much when your officers report their soldiers having hard time fighting hundreds upon hundreds of Kashite, Gubta, Ceodwell and even Imperial men, all in different tunics and under different banners. Three dead foreigners per one dead Methiantese soldier and the fighting have failed to progress further than the first courtyard and surrounding buildings.

The enemy of course is bleeding out, but so does your Army.

A) We ought to retreat to the fields!
B) Push on my brave soldiers, win the fight!
C) CHAAARRRGEEEEE!!!

You decide to besiege the great castle.

1126 AD, Midwinter

The castle remains besieged.

You receive a report from the Palace; silver, gemstones and metals all brought profits to the Treasury this year.

1126 AD, Late Winter

The fortress remains under siege and this ticks off your commanders. Where are enemy reinforcements? And the garrison of this castle refuses to surrender or even negotiate, your agents reporting they seem to have plenty of food and water and other supplies.

A) Clearly we need to break their spirits with an assault!
B) Clearly we need to detach a siege force and continue on!
C) Clearly we need to continue the great siege of the great castle!
