That's 6/8!

Just two more.

812
You open the hailing frequencies.

Quote
"Dominion 'ere."

"Bartender Arnold-"

Quote
"Drinks, issit?"

"Well, yes."

Quote
"We'll consider. Dominion out."

The frequency is closed before you can even exhale a breath.

1236USY.7d/1m.1213h

It takes a while, but the hiss of the bar's main gate opening heralds that crew of Dominion did consider the drinks.

There's a three of them: one, scrawny, short, a little shriveled up and elderly looking man in a businessman's outfit with his slick black hair brushed backwards. He is flanked by two other men; a burly blonde somewhere in his early 20s, with bright skin, messy hair and lots of freckles dusting the bridge of his nose. The third man is a bit shorter, and lankier, than the blonde, and has dark skin and black hair, and some sort of listening or communication device attached to his left ear.

You notice some movement behind them, and realize there's a fourth person - a short woman definitely in late teens, with long red hair and sparkly, blue eyes. Both she and the two taller men wear ashen grey jumpsuits with brown streaks - so you get the idea that they're the crew subservient to the grumpy looking businessman.

"Aight." He says with a raspy, croaking voice, seating himself at the counter. His three crewmembers stand by him.

"Asteroids--" He turns to his crew. "And what ye be havin'?"

"Asteroids too, boss." Says the woman.

"A shot of skinjuice. No, cherrybomb." Says the dark-skinned man.

There's brief pause, and the business guy turns to the blonde.

"Corwyll?"

"I'm fine boss, thanks."

"Suit yeself." The small man nods and turns to you. "Alright, son, two 'steroids and a cherrybomb. And be fast, we are a bit on a schedule 'ere." With a nod, you quickly prepare two glasses of Asteroids, pour a shot of Cherrybomb, and serve all three glasses towards the businessman.

"Y'all better not spill anythin' this time, I ain't paying for seconds." He says, fishing out a small credchip from his suit's breast pocket. It is pitch black, framed with some gold-like material. It goes beep just like the others, though. (+152c)

Quote from: New Patron ID obtained!
Patron ID: Samel Ohagan
Occupation: Captain of "Dominion', Hornburg-class Asteroid Mining Vessel, Federal Navigator 2nd Class (retired), Zero-G Miner (retired)
Conv.Style: CHILLY
Liked drinks: fiery, sweet
Disliked drinks: soft

Mr.Ohagan takes a deep gulp of Asteroids, gasps at the taste, and smiles - barely.

"Good stuff. This is Corwyll." He points a shriveled, long finger at the blonde man. "This is Gering, and Natasha." He whips his finger around, to point at the dark-skinned man, and then the woman. The trio slowly takes their seats at the counter too, Gering and Natasha reaching for and taking sips of their drinks.

"You ain't got any better music than this, son? Somethin' orchestral maybe?" Samel asks, nodding towards the speakers above, playing some typically clubbing-and-synthetic music.

A) "Sorry, but no. Company sets the venues."
B) Fiddle with the playlist, maybe there is something orchestral for Samel there?

You head back to the command center to see who's coming.

A quick look at the blinking console betrays it all:

Sensors Station Alert! IFF beacon translation in progress...

Done!

"Dominion", a Hornburg-class Asteroid Mining Vessel, is approaching from the direction of Eta Coridani Jump Gate.

Standard docking and refueling request received.

Fuel Pump assigned: #2 (authority: Automated Refueling AI)

Estimated arrival time: 15 minutes.

Customers!

A) Hail them!
B) Ehh, actually let's not.

You decide to thoroughly check the outpost's storage rooms.

There must be spare parts, right?

1236USY.7d/1m.1145h

You find spare parts, and some lengths of power cables, stored in a set of boxes that you thought were empty, but most of them had some stuff on the bottom.

All in all there's a container worth of the stuff.

If you're frugal and careful, there should be just enough to get the fuel pump running again!

1236USY.7d/1m.1150h

You barely manage to bring everything to Fuel Pump #10's room when you start to hear a distant, but distinct, beeping:

BEEP-BEEP.
BEEP-BEEP.
BEEP-BEEP.

Some sort of a vessel is approaching the station!

A) Eh, later. I've got a Fuel Pump to fix!
B) Enough tinkering, time for bartending!

815
Crrrreak!

The smell of spilled alcohol, one strong and pungent, could be noticed even from down the corridor moments after Adrienne opened the storage room.
"BEHOLD, ABUNDANCE."
An old, stone statue was dripping wine from the jar it was holding; a pool of the stuff was rapidly flowing out of the store room.

World started to gently spin for Adrienne.

~~Allies Turn!~~

"Could it be in here somewhere, then?" Orf asked, waltzing into the library, eyeing the bookshelves varily.

"No, that's not there, its-"

"It must be there." Aland, blood-stained sword in hand, moved further forward.

You decide it is finally time to get the de-skeletonized fuel pump working again!

1236USY.7d/1m.1028h

Clunk!

You've finally opened the final door separating the maintenance corridor from the Fuel Pump #10's control chamber. The thick smell of dust and thruster fuel is omnipresent, but a quick check on tricorder reveals that there's no spillage - just the smell.

You make your way to the control panel.

You stare down at the hole punched right through the middle of the large connector box that is connecting one of the power lines to the control box. It's like something large and pointy stabbed right through the synthetic material at great speeds. Obviously that hole was made by the skeleton, but you can't fathom how could an adult person be smashed into the box like that.

There's not even enough space to maneuver between the box and the opposite wall. Hmm.

Another mystery of this outpost to think about.

You set down your toolbox and open it, ready to do your work.

1236USY.7d/1m.1119h

You've managed to detach the power coupling, remove the broken parts of the power box, remove the damaged cables and then remove three circuit boards and two shattered, isolinear control rods. You then dust and clean the power box from shards, pieces of broken plastic and molten durasteel as well as compoquartz shards.

You scratch your nose, as the power conduit and its control box are ready to be reassembled and connected to each other - its just that you do not have replacement parts to do it. Even few lenghts of hi-energy plasma cable would be of great use.

Alas.

You put all the broken items in a nearby container to keep the place tidy, and pack up your tool box. It seems Fuel Pump #10 will remain offline for a while longer.

A) Maybe I can cannibalize some spare parts from other fuel pumps?
B) Maybe I can find something in the empty storage rooms?
C) Maybe it is time to file a engineering request form!
D) Maybe it is time to read some Zirconius!
E) Maybe it is time to read bartending trivia!

818
You start to think whether you're forgetting something.

Did you have something to do?

1236USY.7d/1m.1013h

You reminisce about the past six days on the station, and concentrate on the day 3 when Chief Eccite Muli and her team arrived to fix broken stuff aboard your station. That's where you got your toolbox and manuals from.

Ah!

Fuel Pump #10!

You check the maintenance to confirm that this one is still offline. No wonder; there was a secret skeleton inside, one that was extracted by Lieutenant Polio's team.

Could it be the time it gets fixed at last??

A) Let's not get skeletonized and (pick one of options from previous post)
B) How about a nice ping to the SRC HQ, asking to send an engineering team to deal with the de-skeletonized pump?
C) Nay, you cowards! With the power of mine toolbox and maintenance manuals in my memory, I shall fix the Fuel Pump #10 and make this station fully operational again!

819
You march back to your quarters to start another episode of Zirconius.

1236USY.7d/1m.1008h

The date is 666 United Space Year. Chester-Beta42 closes the door to Zirconius' office and the Captain locks it remotely as the android sits down at the desk. Chester explains that during the patrol, the gravitic sensors responsible for detecting such were set to maintenance mode shortly before the pirate ambush. Zirconius loudly ponders if that was maybe done by accident, but then Chester reveals that a coded, low-level communication was sent to Esmeralda shortly before hostilities commenced, containing codes for Hyperion's ECM module, greatly reducing its efficiency against Esmeralda's fire controllers. Both of these actions are well within capabilities and access of Marga Trelis, the corvette's newest communications officer. Zirconius decides to more deeply research Marga's past while instructing Chester-Beta42 to lend a hand. Soon enough, Zirconius finds out Marga's connection to a fringe political group, 'Centaurian Republicans', whose goals and methods are strictly authoritarian and downright oppresive.
Few days later, having received a call from ChesterBeta-42, Zirconius meets with him in the Civilian Ring of Poseidonis Fortress, and the duo tails Marga Trelis as she makes her way to Black Harbor, a bar of ill-repute that is rumored to be in hands of Crime Baron Costello...

Thus ends Chapter 7.

You really wish you had something else to do on the station, and your mind wanders...

A) One! More! One! More!
B) Ok, bartending trivia next.
C) Ok, pass the time.
D) Ok, check sensors.
E) Hmm, am I forgetting something important?

820
It is time to finish this study slog once and for all!

1236USY.7d/1m.0919h

You put down the datapad. You've finished SRC Hull and Power Network manual!

Congratulations! Arnold has finished the entirety of SRC Maintenance Manuals! Minor repairs will no longer require a roll, while all other repair/maintenance rolls on the station will get +1.

Employee file updated!

Well, you don't get a reward for this, except this overwhelming sense of accomplishment.

So!

...what now?

A) Bartending trivia!
B) Zirconius series!
C) Check sensors!
D) Pass the time!

821
You finish feeding and decide to return to the sleep pod.

You set the timer for one extra hour and the pod closes with a hiss.

Soon, the aerosols put you to sleep.

1236USY.7d/1m.0249h

You exit the sleep pod, feeling quite refreshed.

You do let out a yawn whilst the wetware chip kindly informs you that:

[MELATONINE PRODUCTION ADJUSTED. SLEEP PERIOD RESCHEDULING COMPLETE: 2015 TO 0215 HOURS STANDARD SPACE TIME]

You change your clothes to your everyday fare and then march off to the bar.

Music: on.

Lights: on.

You: present.

Bar: ready.

Now if there was only patrons to serve!

A) Let's finish maintenance manuals!
B) Let's watch some more Zirconius!
C) Let's browse some bartending trivia!
D) Check the sensors maybe?
E) Whatever, let's just pass the time!

822
You return to your sleep pod.

You set the timer and resume your interrupted sleep period...

Congratulations! Bartender Arnold earned 151.5 Credits today! His monthly total so far is 3876.5 Credits!

A new day at Galactic Refueling Otupost 254831 begins...

1236USY.7d/1m.0145h

Rubbing your eyes, you step out of the slumber pod.

You do not feel yourself well rested, especially, as your brain notes, the deep-sleep period was interrupted.

You plug yourself to the feeding system and stare blankly at the wall in front of you.

Hm.

A) Time to start a new day!
B) One more hour in the pod won't hurt.
C) Won't hurt to check the sensors even if they're not pinging, right?

823
"You two want more drinks?"

"I am satisfied. With the synthols. I have imbibed so far."

"Sure, get me-" Agustina glances at her android, then shrugs. "A shot of Fungus Malus." You nod, accepting the order, and pour Agustina a bitter one. Beep-beep goes the credchip scanner. (+10c)

After a brief bout of silence, Agustina downs her shot and puts the glass down, looking mournfully into it.

"Maybe I am going about this the wrong way. Hmph."

"A change in strategy. Might be optimal course of action. If nothing else seems to bring desired outcome."

"Yeah, that's a given." With a sigh, Agustina purses her lips and tilts the empty glass to look inside it.

"Alright Chester, we're off." Chester's servos audibly, but very very quietly whirrl, something that you didn't notice last time it seems, as he spins himself away from the counter and helps Agustina stand up.

"Please be mindful of your inebriety. Miss Akrylla."

"Yeah, yeah. Until next time, bartender."

"Please come again, and good luck in your search, Agustina." Agustina forces a smile.

"Thanks." Slowly, the duo of sad heiress and snarky android make for the main gate, and then through it, and then you're alone again.

1236USY.6d/1m.2205

Sensors notify you that "Minuet" has undocked and is headed for Poseidonis Jump Gate. You finish up cleaning after Agustina and her android, and involuntarily let out a yawn.

A) Okay, time to hit the hay!
B) No, no, I can still go and maybe do something productive?

"Why not Chester?" Agustina glares at you, but only briefly.

"Can't have kids with an android, uh, and more seriously, I'm not interested in Chester."

"I am also against. The idea of marrying. Miss Akrylla. For professional reasons. As her guardian and servant."

"See? Even Chester knows." Agustina lets out a mournful sigh and grimaces. A moment later she lifts her glass and chugs the remainder of her mix.

"Sorry, it was a stupid idea to just ask a random barkeep about this. Desperation and all that. Carry on." Chester stares at his escortee, then puts down his shot glass, empty.

You wonder if you can steer the duo out of your bar...

A) "You two want more drinks?"
B) "Well, wanna tell me about your home moon?"
C) *carry on with idle noises*
D) "I wish you well in your travels."
