You demand from the healers to try any, ANY herb of medicinal use to battle the disease. You cannot lose your daughter!

Quote

She lives! After a week of tough battle, Yra is cured of the swamp fever. She is weak and less lively than before. The healers beleive there might be problems with her development in the future, but nothing's certain.

She is alive and that's what counts.

1103 AD, Midsummer

Kingdom of Ionith is no more; its young, childless King died after a long illness, and Queen Dogethe issued a letter to his courtiers, demanding that they turn over the land into her hands. Facing potential pretender wars and Cydwyl armies, the Ionith nobility surrendered the territories Queen Dogethe. Her kingdom expands once more.

Meanwhile, the Fireblood caravan arrives in your capital city, supplying your alchemists with new ingredients.

1103 AD, Autumn

Your magistrates all report that the bureaucratic reform has been implemented! New offices ensure that the Kingdom will be running smoothly and efficiently!

Congratulations! Bureaucratic Reform has been implemented.

Population of 6 or more will now grant extra taxes at the end of the year (previously it required 8 Population).
Other reforms will be passed more quickly, and with less possibilities for something to go wrong.

1103 AD, Mid-Autumn

A most surprising turn of events has occured, because a delegation of Hurthlings, living in isolation for almost a century, has just arrived at your capital!

The stout ltitle people are all clad in pink woolen cloaks with chainmail hiding underneath them. They're clean-shaven and look at you with certain contempt.

"Griitings, hooman King Luath! Our masters, the Tiftit Family, saw no choice but to turn to you big ones for help. Our land is suffering from lack of foods. Pliise, show your kindness, hooman, and provide us with grain. The Hurthlings will not forget it." Your courtiers of course discuss this lively amongst themselves; according to the folk tales, Hurthlings are supposed to be masters of agriculture. For them to suffer famine or crop failure, is truly a catastrophic event.

You decide to...

A) Dismiss the Hurthlings, as you will have nothing to do with them.
B) Send them a single caravan of grain, but nothing more.
C) Attempt to negotiate a payment for your grain first.

You declare that taxes for peasantry shall be raised till you're satisfied with wealth gathered.

1103 AD, Spring

Quote

The decision to raise taxes was a catalyst for massive drop of loyalty amongst your peasants. Apparently, years of good rule didn't prepare them for the fact they might need to reward you for your love-handed approach at ruling. At least no one is openly rebelling at the moment.

1103 AD, Summer

The dreaded swamp fever, which kills 8 out of 10 children and leaves the 9th crippled, has seized Yra, your youngest child!

Quote

Yra is still alive, but the healers are running around her 24/7 to keep her alive. Your wife cries her eyes out because someone at your court is saying that Yra should be killed to cut her painful existence short.

You decide to...

A) Demand that the healers try every herb they know to combat this wicked disease.
B) Tell the healers to give Yra a sleeping agent and then poison her so she dies in her sleep.

You agree to buy precious salt so that both peole and nobility can have some spicyness in their foods now that spices are not coming from the Gubta.

The Agaresians discuss the agreement between themselves for a while longer before then bow their heads in respect, agreeing. They have the agreement written down in two copies, one for you and one for them. Both copies have Methiantese script on top and Agaresian script on the bottom. According to the agreement, the salt caravan will pick up the money.

The merchants take their scroll, and leave the palace, riding their giant lizard mounts northwards.

1102 AD, End of the Year

The Advisor arrives in your study as you ponder the ancient lexicons of oratory. He brings many scrolls with him, Scrolls of Kingdom Status of course included.

Happiness: 8
Population: 6
Economy: 6
Army: 4

"Here is report of the renovations, sire." He unfolds one of the scrolls over the Status. "Almost all of keeps and manors were renovated. Only few remain at near-finished state."

"My liege, the peasants are very mellow for years. Now that we're running out of silver, gems are sent west and coinage will be sent north, we need extra cash. I suggest we tax peasants higher to squeeze extra coin from them."

A) "One year of higher taxes won't hurt anyone."
B) "Nah, let's keep them mellow for more."
C) "Raise the level of taxes for all, it's time to reap the rewards of the good rule of Yoe dynasty."

"Also, I'm happy to announce that the royal scribes have enlarged the map of Methiant and nearby lands." He then sprawls the huge scroll on your desk, the scroll having been widened and stitched and extended many times.

You try to convince them to accept locally minted coinage instead of metals and gemstones.

Quote

They quietly argue between themselves for a while. Two merchants however dominate; they wear simple silver chains compared to their three compatriots who wear more elaborate but iron chains. You wonder if its of significance. They finish their discussion and turn to you.

"Very well. King Atulov will be glad to receive coins, even if they're foreign and thus of no certain purity. I'm sure we can establish a trade of one item for your coinage." Success! Even if minor one, but still success nonetheless!

You decide to try and establish an exchange for...

A) Luxurious furs and skins for your nobility.
B) Precious salt that is rare in these parts.
C) Agaresian steel, which they make in huge amounts.
D) Eggs of giant lizards, their fearsome mounts.
E) "These are fine goods, but is there anything else you or your King could offer us?"

You agree to meet with the Agaresian merchants.

1102 AD, Midwinter

It sure took them a while to get to your palace.

Twenty five men arrive at your castle, riding formidable, grey-skinned giant lizards. The men are all bearded, wear fur clothing and conical straw hats. Curved swords, axes and broad knives are hanging at the belts of twenty men who travel in lines behind the five men at the front. Several more lizards are without riders but are carrying heaps upon heaps of furs, various bags and crates.

The five Agaresians appear before your throne, depositing luxurious furs at your feet; white fox, black sable, ermine and mink, plus a bear fur cloak adorned with golden thread. They describe this particular collection as gifts, rather than commodities they want to sell, for you and your beautiful wife.

What strikes you is that the Agaresians seem to be bilingual; using a guttural, alien language between themselves but also speaking the local language of Methiant peoples with certain ease.

"It is most honor to see the King of Methiant. We come far from the land of Agares, where the good King Atulov rules. We brings gifts and we bring words of the good King; he wishes to learn more about this land and to obtain its riches, as we heard the land is prosperous and full of ores and gemstones." They then list what they have to offer, or rather, what King Atulov has to offer.

In return, they would accept locally mined silver, gold, copper or gemstones, either in raw, processed, or crafted forms.

The Treasurer and the Advisor both remind you that you have none of these currently available, unless you wish to break the trade agreement with King Elran III of Eldrican (the near-exhausted silver is not even an option). Thus, first of all, you decide to...

A) Tell the merchants that you have nothing to sell and have to dismiss them empty-handed.
B) Try to persuade the merchants to accept hard Methiant coinage in exchange for their wares.

IRC channel is going to get closed in about a month. People's are abandoning it one by one for Discord (which has much more channels and connects peeps from other forums also), and now that I can run Discord too, no point to loiter on obsolete things.

Up to CrickEt if he wants ownership to continue the channel but honestly I dun see point v;

You decide that the Thundercats need some more work. A year will do.

1102 AD, Winter

Gemstones and silver arrive at your Treasury; the gemstones are sent westwards.

Few days later, you receive a letter from a nobleman called Aethef Einan, a man you know little about. In his letter he describes a group of merchants from distant Agares that visited his little border town of Cyldwan. They speak of their distant homeland and their wish to know more about Methiant, therefore Aethef wonders if you would want to meet with them in person.

A) Sure thing.
B) I'm too busy.

You decide that a presentation would be nice, and you're gonna attend it!

A week later, you attend the presentation. The Thundercats will be targeting an old tower, at the outskirts of the royal hunting grounds, which has by today crumbled down to its first floor.

You can look the Thundercats down their barrels; the cast iron siege engines look impressive, if a bit small-sized compared to the Blackhearts, which were truly humongous black tubes of death.

Standing near the artillery, looking at the Fireblood and chatting with the engineers, you look as the Thundercats are loaded up. Soon they shall fire.

Quote

A Fireblood handling mishap creates a small explosion! Some of the younger engineers mixed it wrong and the mixture exploded prematurely inside one of the Thundercat, which is now a slightly molten mess. Several were wounded, your ears were ringing for a while, but no one died. The courtiers attending the presentation however are worried that Methiant engineers are in fact not ready to handle these guns properly.

A) Nonsense, accidents happen and there's nothing we can do about it. It's time to add Thundercats to the Army!
B) Indeed, let's be careful. Postpone addition of Thundercats for a year so the engineers can work on them a bit more.
