Some events happened in Autumn, and warrent a specific update which is underway o/ It'll be available during the week.
Also, some of the prisonners are willing to talk and I'd need someone to..ehm... perform an """interrogation""". If no one volonteers I'll ask Uquur, as she's the dedicated executionner. If someone volonteer, you have free range on the method used. We have everything needed to make them talk ! And we kinda need to know why we're fighting. And who we're fighting for that matter.

Haspen can talk. It's like trading negotiations, but with execution possibilities included :v

Isn't the whole thing with the all divines that All the faiths are legitimately divine?

Ye but so far they had no government actually replacing their traditional faith with them. They're just like, self-caring, philosophy-founded, mercenary guilds for poor and homeless at the moment ;v

You send a messenger to the Cloister, requesting mercenaries in exchange for your money.

1098 AD, Spring

Your Army has begun moving again in the Donuth lands as the weather weakened and snows melted somewhat. There's not much to do, though, as only few raider parties are found. Cydwyl soldiers met in the ravaged land report that their main forces are now siegeing the capital city, still held by few hundred of Donuth loyalists.

A new caravan of spices arrives!

Quote
1to2*

People buy the roots and flowers and powders readily, earning Treasury a neat profit.

Few days later, your wife gives birth to her first child! Your courtiers are thrilled to learn that its a girl! Segeda names her 'Gea', after her mother, and your courtiers host a really enthusiastic feast to celebrate this most joyous of moments. You feel they're a bit sarcastic.

The morning after the feast, Battlebrother Gnarl arrives at your court.

"Greetings, King Yoe! We have heard your call for our services, and we heed it with great pleasure, but our Cloistermasters believe that it is time for closer ties to develop between our faithful and your military."

"What are you suggesting?"

"That Alldivine faith becomes the national religion of Methiant. Convert along with your court, and we shall move in to your castles and keeps, spreading our knowledge of matters both military and mystical amongst your faithful subjects."

SLAM! Goes the door as the Marshal jumps in, his cape fluttering behind him.

"My liege! Foreign philosophies should remain apart from our own beliefs. Ought we upset the soldiers by forcing them to abandon their personal Pantheonist or Singularist creeds and replace them with teachings they might not wish to follow? Nay I say!"

A) "The Marshal speaks right. We ought to keep our relationship with the Cloisters on the level of purchasing their mercenary services."
B) "It's about time we unite together in body in soul! Bring the philosophers and veterans and commandants, we shall call them brothers in arms and faith!"
C) "A mere mention of such a proposal turns my stomach, Battlebrother Gnarl! Begone, as I shall not need Alldivine warrior-priests after all.

You agree to bureaucratic reforms. Meanwhile, an order is sent to arrest and execute the most corrupt officials, while others shall be imprisoned or fined heavily.

It is a total 'surprise' for the criminal scum! Only few escape arrest and punishment, and no noble nor military man is able to mount any resistance to your purge. In the end, 33 men and women are executed, over 40 imprisoned, and 10 have their wealth taken away.

1097 AD, Midwinter

With slight delay due to the snowstorms, gemstones arrive at your treasury while silver is sent east.

Reports of victory come from land of Donuth; another of the warlord's son has been slain and his forces scattered. Elsewhere, a raider group of Methiant horsemen met and shared information with some Cydwyl soldiers; apparently they're smashing Donuth's family to pieces in numerous skirmishes. If your commanders did the tally right, only one of Donuth's children has so far eluded combat and is still living - Gaam, third eldest of late Donuth's sons.

Another report comes from the newly assigned overseers of the newewst territories; people flock to the banner of Methiant, easily lured with promises of lesser taxation and proper system of laws.

1097 AD, Late Winter

Due to continuous snowing and lengthy blizzards in the north, both yours and Cydwyl armies had to camp away for several weeks. Not that the Donuth loyalists did a lot during that time, either.

1097 AD, End of the Year

As you watch the snowstorm continue outside, a knock on the door grabs your attention. Here comes the Advisor, with Scrolls of Kingdom Status in his hands.

Happiness: 7
Population: 5
Economy: 6
Army: 3

"Most blessed leader, our Army is at war in the north yet they're numbers aren't very impressive. Shall we send money to the Cloisters of Alldivines in exchange for troops, if they have any at ready?" You decide to...

A) Get some monk-mercenaries recruited.
B) Keep the money in the Treasury for now.

Much like military reform from first game, it will reduce Economy by 1 per year, but will prevent such corruption issues, help with taxes and is needed for some extra features which I'm not gonna tell you, ha!

Daughters can still be heirs if nothings left, right? We arent agnatic, are we?

After the fall of Luathbas, the local leaders noticed that it did coincide with rule of two queens in a row, and so abandoned the Luathbasian model and returned to either male-primogeniture or salic law (female's descendants excluded).

You decide to abstain from participation but give the commanders your blessing.

A week later their troops arrive in Donuth; a week later you receive first report.

Apparently, they scored a minor or major victory, depending on perspective - using element of surprise, they broke up an army of 1.300 stationed at the border, which was belonging to one of Donuth's son, Dau. Said son was slain by Methiant arrow to the face.

Next morning you receive news that the Cydwyls invaded the northern half of Donuth as well, pushing over 12.000 men into the conflict - splitting these into three armies that march toward Rainbow Lizard mountains, Tven peaks and the Donuth's fortified palace.

1096 AD, Winter

Your Army sends a report, after getting into a fight with 2.500 men of Aza, one of Donuth's son, your soldiers had to move back a bit to regroup and resupply.

Few days later, after you're done spending hours in the library with your wife (who was too absorbed by her histories to notice your attempts at seduction), when the Treasurer and the Advisor step inside, bearing several scrolls. They don't look happy at all.

"My liege, forgive the intrusion, but the Treasurer has something to say." The Treasurer steps forward and takes off his beret.

"King Yoe! I'm sad to announce that corruption has planted firm roots into the taxation and administration of our glorious country. Me and my loyal, trusted aides has been looking into the books of accounting for last few years. While we were doing the math, we have discovered that various minor and major officials has been siphoning small amount of money earned from selling of jewels, silver ore and proxy trade of Gubtan spices. Ten governors, six military officers and almost sixty minor oficials could be charged with taking of bribes and stealing of Kingdom's money." He then presents you with the a ledger full of monetary information; these numbers are far lower than what you thought you had!

(Economy has been adjusted from 7 to 5)

"Before you become filled to brim with anger," The Treasurer continues, "Let me explain the reason behind this - it is because we develop in land and profits, but lack the people to properly check everything twice. The bureaucracy, especially in matters of coinage, need to be expanded; new offices created and more people hired."

"Do you have plans for such a new system?"

"Well yes. But the sheer amount of people working our numbers and books will require lots of annual expenses; for now we have the profitable mines and trade with Gubta but who knows what will happen in the future. My aides and I however are sure we can bring you the project written down in vellum in few months' time." The Advisor coughs.

"My liege, there's also matter of the corrupt officials. Stealing money from the Crown is a major offense, and thus these unscrupulous men should be dealt with." You think for a while about all this.

About the bureaucracy reform...

A) Yes, we will reform the bureaucracy to make sure our nation runs smoothly!
B) Naw, no need to reform, just a cleansing will do!

As for punishment of corrupt officials...

A) -
B) Tax them heavily! Money stolen will become money recovered!
C) Fire them and find competent replacements, should be enough.
D) Execute the most corrupt ones and deal major punishments to others to make sure nobody tries this again!

//No split votes pls.
//EDIT: Fixed some errors v;

You decide to take what you're given and accept the deal.

The war council convenes next day and the officers ask the obvious question:

"Shall you lead us to glory and victory, King Yoe??"

A) Hell yes.
B) Heavens no.

You decide to hurriedly send a messenger to Queen Dogethe to negotiate things about possible split of Donuth lands.

1096 AD, Late Autumn

The Duchy of Sevon has split! The rebel lands ruler recently died, and his twin sons, unable to accept others' suizerainty nor willing to risk war while Lametania still exists, decided to evenly distribute the Duchy at roughly east-west line. The two new Duchies are Aran and Llamber, named after the two brothers of course.

Few days later, the messenger you've sent to Queen Dogethe is back. He looks both worried and triumphant in the same time.

"My liege! I bring news about my negotiation with Queen Dogethe. She agreed to leave the lands south of Tven peaks to Methiant, if only our armies can take them from Donuth. Otherwise, she will send her armies to seize those territories as well."

Your courtiers murmur. It isn't the best of offers, but it is some offer after all. You decide to...

A) Send the envoy again - this time with monetary gifts and request for better deal.
B) Send a letter in which you agree to this deal while your Armies prepare to enter Donuth's realm.
C) Forget the issue and let the Cydwyls grab all of Donuth for themselves, if they can take it all of course.

Ethan, who did sneakily tag along with the most important of his crew (and Amberly), pointed at the docks.

"That one." His finger was pointing at two large caravels, with additional crew and ballistas and...

No no, not these ones.

To a pier behind them, there was a small carrack, moored with a single line. In fact, one could easily hide it in one of those caravels.

"Ain't Blackbones a beauty?"

And then Vastaghen shall draw the Gorlak.

In sci-fi environment and plasma shotgun. Or as a true and badass warrior-companion of Aine.
