You dismiss this offer as unprofitable and ask for something else.

"No, my master, King Shahar was only interesting in buying the goods. If you do not wish to part with them, then I shall waste no more of your time and seek a friend elsewhere. Goodbye." He bows and leaves, while the Treasurer sighs unhappily.

Few days later you convene a council to decide how to best approach the war with Felonsines. Most agree that Methiant army ought to roam about at their borderlands, causing chaos. Few seem interested in all out war, but of course it is for you to decide.

A) We stop at nothing till we conquer some land! We will make Methiant great again!
B) Alright, we will poke their side, burns some villages, and ask Eldricans to reward us. That was the deal.

"Also, King Yoe II, will you lead us to glory in battle?"

A) "THOU SHALL TAKETH A GUESS!!"
B) "Um, no, best I don't do that."

Yep, whatever you send abroads no longer goes into your Treasury 'directly'.

EDIT: There is now limit on amount of Trade Routes you have, equal to Capital Provinces you control*2

Is the caravan thing a one off, or is it a permanent boost to income while it's open?

As long as both Warlords decide to sustain the Route, it boosts income. Of course, any intermediary (guys who take 'passage fees') can also cancel it, necessiting a new caravan to be sent and the route to be re-made (perhaps with a more trustworthy middleman, too) ;v

All in all, the feasibility of Trade depends on whether the Warlords want to and trust each other with such mercantile venues v:

One caffeine-filled evening later, I have managed to produce a sort-of Trade Route system with caravans and Profit calculations.

Also Tea plantations, because what is East Asia China-expy Land of Han without delicious leaf drinks?

Spoiler: Scroll of Innovations (click to show/hide)

Three very important questions for all Players:

1. Does Tea feel like a filler, or is a welcome add-on?

2. What do you think about Trade Route/Caravan system? Is it chaotic or looks fiddly to use, or maybe is OK?

3. Most importantly: Would you be against inclusion of Tea and Trade Routes into currently on-going game?

You try to negotiate the best price for the gems, with help of the Treasurer who gauges the pricing compared to usual monetary gain.

Quote

After a long time, the envoy wants to buy 5 years worth of gemstones for 5 years of monetary gain, if your Treasurer's calculations are correct. Not real bonus there, except maybe Shahar's friendliness in the future...

A) "That is a good offer. We have a deal!"
B) "That is a weak offer. I want more money for it!"
C) "That is a weak offer. Does your King have anything else to offer?"
D) "Pfeh, this offer is an insult! There will be no deals."

"That sounds like a good deal. We will march against Felonsines as soon as we can." The envoy looks relieved and even pleased.

"I will carry this message to King Elran III with haste. May Damed bless you with victory!" He quickly leaves your palace.

Then the envoy of the Shahshans meets with you in the throne room.

"Greetings, King Yoe of this land called Methiant! My master, King Shahar, blessed be his rule, has embarked upon a construction project to celebrate both his wife's 65th birthday and their 50th marriage anniversary; a splendid palace to house her and her numerous daughters and granddaughters. But there is shortage of ornamental stones, opals mostly, that were to decorate the marvelous domed ceilings and bathing pools and doors of the palace. King Shahar looked far and wide for a supplier till he learned that your Kingdom does mine such gemstones on regular basis. Do tell, would you be interested in dealing with King Shahar?"

A) "Sure, let's negotiate."
B) "No, thank you."

You decide to search for some Wormholes leading out of Delta Pavonis.

0001.0001:1325 Mission Time

4*

Bingo! You've managed to pinpoint a Wormhole at the edge of Delta Pavonis system, at 39˚ to the right from the star, in relation to your current position that's it.

Your computer has also detected some gravitic fluctuations somewhere between 55˚ to 75˚ to the left from the star as well. During the calculations you had a break for much needed nap and a meal; some dried culinary paste (carrot&meatballs flavored) and a foil bag of nutrition-fiber juice. What a luxury.

The computer determines that reaching the unknown Wormhole will take about two months at full acceleration. That's a lot of time, time to decide on some course of action maybe?

As for movement...

A) Gonna stay where I am now.
B) Time to engage engines and fly toward the unexplored Wormhole!
C) Time to engage engines and fly toward Delta Pavonis star!

As for stuff to do...

A) Scan the Delta Pavonis system, in particular... (pick: Delta Pavonis Star, Debris Disk, Gravitic Fluctuations)
B) Have the computer do a passive scan of the system to gather generic data.

Fortifications Around the Han: Several independent Warlords construct Keeps in wake of recent conquests by their more organized neighbours.

Militias as Well!: Others raise their Spearmen troops. Only governor of Southern Shu remains blissfully ignorant of the situation in the region.

Anger of the Ancestors: As predicted by dark omens last season, disasters strike the land of Han! Earthquake cracks open the ground in Southern Song, devouring the local Woodcutter Camp! Another Earthquake affects nearby Western Qi, causing flooding and destroying the recently made silk and rice farms in the region. Meanwhile, Plague rears its ugly head in Western Qin, notably ddepleting the ranks of Jia Sun's Spearmen stationed there.

The Blaze of Glades: A forest fire occurs in Western Chu! Fortunately, by either vigilance of inspectors or mayhaps blessing of the Ancestors (and that day-long rain which coincided with the blaze), the flames are quickly extinguished.

The Arrival of a Hero: Tian Liuxian, known for being a Famous, Teacher and Inventor arrives at the palace of Ji Zo. Tian Liuxian offers his services for initial price of 3800 Coins, and 1900 Coins each subsequent Season.

Neverending Pillagery: The Barbarians in Western Ji continue their pillaging of the land, causing Ji Zo to lose a whole 1000 Coins!

You decide to talk with him in privacy of two guards who check him and give him A-OK.

"King Yoe, as you know, your father warred against Queen Karkhuta, causing her Kingdom to shatter upon her untimely death." That is true, and you nod at the envoy.

"Lately however, the Koi begun to assimilate the western Felonsines into their fold while also striking amicable alliances with the remainder of Felonsein factions. They also managed to reconcile with the Kiwis via political marriage. This doesn't look good for us, Eldricans."

"King Elran III therefore asks that you march your armies and attack one of the factions of Felonsines allied to the Kois. In the meanwhile, we will strike against the Koi, while some other of our friends will stir up trouble with Kiwis."

"And what do I get from that?" The envoy smiles.

"While, the Felonsine territories that you get! Plus also we know that your father pursued knowledge of Fireblood; we will thus provide you with Felonsine and our own designs. And, Queen Velela has recently given birth to a daughter, so King Elran III wouldn't be averse to a bethrothal of hers to your sons, if you get any?"

A) "That is mighty fine deal. We will strike against the Felonsines as soon as we can."
B) "That is mighty risky deal. I'm not sure that it is profitable venue at this moment, unless your master could offer something else..."
C) "No, no, three times no. We have enough on our hands at the moment."

You are Satoru Hisho, an Astrophysicist of the Yamato Empire.

The fellow scientists of the Imperial Astronautics Academy have equipped The Globe with a new Gravitometric Scanner. It will allow for detection of instabilities through the Wormholes, so you will be able to determine whether the other side of the Wormhole is a solar system or event horizon of a black hole.

In theory, at least. The Gravitometric Scanner can also be used as substitute if you need a detailed scan of wormholes, black hole emissions and gravitational pull of stellar bodies.

T-0002 Hours

The Globe leaves the safety of the space station and slowly thrusters toward the point of most dense gravitational instability; the entry point of the wormhole.

T-0001 Hours

The GAD is powering up, and all readings and emissions cease to exist; the massive flux of gravitons interfere with other forces.

Point T

The extreme pressures would kill you if not the heavy metal shielding of your control room. The time and space go and skewer themselves as you see afterimages of your equipment, your flailing hands, or even photons slowing down to such speeds that you can see the beams of light as a thick cloud of particle matter-

Everything speeds up. The GAD becomes silent and inoperative.

0001.0001:0460 Mission Time

The main computer beeps up and goes into active mode. While it performs scans stellar neighbourhood to determine where you just found yourself in, you pull up status check of The Globe.

Spoiler: Status Check Log (click to show/hide)

The drop within RTGs is alright; the scientists determined that each Wormhole transition should drain about 5% of Capitalium-241 reserves. This means you have about ~10 'jumps' before you should consider returning to this area and performing a jump back to Sol System.

The computer beeps and starts listing the approximate location of your ship.

Apparently you're 20 light years away from home - you're in Delta Pavonis star system! This is both a blessing and a curse.

Blessing, because it proves the Tokamak-Sindra Theory, that wormholes are formed within gravitational influence of stellar bodies.

Curse, because Delta Pavonis has been long ago proven to be rather uninteresting place. It has a main sequence star, slightly larger than Sol, but no planets of any kind, nor even a gas giant, with only a disk of dust surrounding this Sol-like star. You start the rocket thrusters and decide to...

A) Activate long-range scanners and gather data on Delta Pavonis star.
B) Activate long-range scanners and gather data on debris disk.
C) Take it easy and let the computer do a wide-system passive scan.
D) Search for other potential Wormholes within Delta Pavonis.
E) Go into hibernation pod and wait till The Globe approaches inner system.
