You nod and prepare the mix as instructed - two shots of Wóda, one of Wet Jet and then Vurzelberg, all served in a cocktail glass with a lemon slice hanging off the edge.

"Thanks." 'Jack' takes the glass and fishes out a small, black credchip with silvery frame. You scan it. (+96c)

The console does show that you've billed him for Remnant Binary after all!

A) "How's it going?"
B) CHATTY: "You've mentioned Crystal Dragon and offered his blessings to me, are you some sort of a religious person?"
C) CHATTY: "Can't help but notice you've had the recipe memorized. Were you perhaps an SRC bartender in the past?"
D) FLIRTY: "You appear so slick and fashionable in that black outfit of yours, you look like a model, for reals~"
E) "Why 'unknown' occupation? You're not a secret agent, are you?"
F) "Why did you call your spaceship 'Matilda'?"

902
No, but this is the decision of interpersonal trust of Drone vs Stranger rather than actual bartending :P

You open hailing frequencies.

Quote
"Greetings."

"Hello. My name's Arnold, and we have synthol onboard."

Quote
"Ah, good to hear it. I wouldn't mind a mix or two. I will disembark after docking. Dragon bless."

The hail is quickly ended, so you wander off to the main hall to take your seat behind the bar.

The main gate opens and a middle-sized man in a black jumpsuit comes through. His slick, black hair is combed backwards and he wears half-shades on his face for some reason. His triangular face seems as sharp as it is pale.

As he makes his way to the counter, you notice further details about his outfit - there's some sort of golden lining on his suit, that shimmers as he passes under the neon lamps of your establishment. He wears black gloves, and they have the same slick shine to their blackness just like his shoes.

He sits down at the bar and gives you a smile, and you notice an earring on his left ear - five beads of a chain ending in a tiny rectangle, dangling gently.

"Hello bartender, I'm Jack. May the Crystal Dragon bless you in your life and your works. Now, how about some Remnant Binary for starters?" You briefly consider the name before turning to type away at the console...

"Don't know that one?"

"No, I don't." 'Jack' nods and steeples his fingers.

"Right, get a cocktail glass, then two shots Wóda, one Wet Jet and one Vurzelberg. Decorate with a lemon slice on the rim." You wonder...

A) ...if he is a scammer! Better connect to Bartending net and see the recipe for yourself.
B) ...if he was an SRC bartender in the past. Prepare the drink according to his instructions.

Roll To Dodge / Re: RTD Starlight Mechanized Corps
« on: March 04, 2023, 12:04:33 pm »
Maia Sanders: Of course, Commander. Operation Wide Net is a go, and I will inform the Pilots after their immediate departure.

Few minutes later, the strategic operation screen switches to tactical, showing the satellite maps of the area and photographs of the forested area near the research facility.

28th Late Winter 1001
OPERATION 3: WIDE NET
Two hours later

The tactical screen shows the arrival of Maglev 1000 in area of the search-slash-hunt, with the local Police Department coordination officers directing the Maglev to the west of the Tataro facility.

The Maglev itself comes to a stop in middle of a glade at the end of a dirt road, few hundred meters away from the main facility. Soon enough the camera feeds inside the Pilots' cockpits come online as well.

Josephine Fontainblanc: Fontainblanc here, all systems nominal!

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: Langrisser reporting, sir.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: Ostfalk ready, Commander.

Ichirou Natsugawa: Natsugawa ready for action, once again.

The doors open and the ramp extends, allowing the four Mechas to descend it.

Ichirou Natsugawa: Three in three deployments, huh...

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: You sound mopey, Natsugawa.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: Combat fatigue, perhaps?

Ichirou Natsugawa: No, not really.

Josephine Fontainblanc: Then what?

Ichirou Natsugawa: Eh, just, I thought that our 'stars' in Swords would show up more often rather than... me. Like, I am mostly an engineer, you know? Just a funny thought, really.

Josephine Fontainblanc: You're overthinking it.

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: 3 from Roll, +4 from Tracking, -1 from Second-Hand Coordinates, -1 from Threat Level = 5
Final result: 6

Maglev: Maglev crew here. We're receiving unfiltered reports and coordinates from the local police department and Tataro Mugenics. We would like to Miss Langrisser and Mister Natsugawa to receive the data and filter out the useful stuff.

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: Of course.

Ichirou Natsugawa: Right away.

The two then quickly get to the useful info, and triangulate the probable whereabouts of four of the escaped Behemoths.

Ichirou Natsugawa: This way.

Quote from: Tracking Test
Johann Eduard Ostfalk: 3 from Roll, +0 from Tracking, -1 from Threat Level = 2

Few minutes into a track into the forest, the team is slightly fanned out, combing through the underbrush for signatures.

One comes right in the middle of Johann's sensor, and he hums, flabbergasted.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: Above? He turns his mecha to look at the treetops, but the strike comes from below!

A centipede-like, burrowing Mu bursts out of the dirt and slams into his VanZer.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: Shit-! Johann loses control of his Mecha and it is sent to the ground, the screen warning him of damage in several structural and armor areas of his construct.

VanZer-008: 1/2 Hitpoints left!

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: 5, +0 from Battling, -1 from Spindly Behemoth, -1 from Threat Level = 3
Final result: 4

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: Hang on, Johann! Eva and Josephine, the closest to the entrapped Johann and the burrowing Mu, quickly travail between the trees and point their laser rifles at the ugly monstrosity that is attempting to coil around their comrade's Mecha.

Several laser blasts later, the thing lets go, wobbles and falls dead between the bushes, its body riddled with burn wounds.

Josephine Fontainblanc: Are you alright, Johann? The Saxonian in question looks himself over and shrugs.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: Not a scratch on me, my VanZer is a different story. Give me a few... He slowly raises his Mecha off the ground, dents in his armor showing just as the monitor points out that few important bits under the armor got crushed or mangled.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: Moderate damage. Some servos got damaged, but I should be fine.

Quote from: Goals Completed
Goals:
1. Find and Destroy the Escaped Behemoths. (1/? Killed)

Ichirou Natsugawa: We should keep a closer watch on each other, I think. The info we got from Mugenics doesn't mention any other burrowing organism, but we should still keep our eyes open.

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: Alright.

Quote from: Battling Test, Teamwork

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: 6 from Roll, +2 from Battling -1 from Speedy Behemoth, -1 from Threat Level = 6
Final Result: (4.5 =>) = 4

Several minutes of going downwards an uneven terrain, the squad notices a fast-moving dot on their scanner.

Soon enough, a four-legged, cow-shaped alien rushes from between the trees, but Ichirou and Johann were ready for it. A cross-fire from two oversized laser rifles sends the Mu shrieking and soon it slams into a nearby tree, almost breaking it in half. Local Mu-particle readouts are near zero.

Maglev: You're slowly coming to the edge of our operational area, Pilots. We will move the Maglev few hundred meters to keep sensors in range.

Quote from: Goals Completed
Goals:
1. Find and Destroy the Escaped Behemoths. (2/? Killed)

Josephine Fontainblanc: 3, +2 from Tracking, -1 from Distant Signatures, -1 from Threat Level = 3
Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: 3, +4 from Tracking, -1 from Distant Signatures, -1 from Threat Level = 5
Final result: 4

Josephine and Eva pick some distant Mu particle readings on their sensors and lead their team - right to the edge of a cliff. A waterfall is crashing over the rocks, a very sharp slope leading downwards, with several boulders protruding from the rock surface.

Eva peeks down the cliff and her onboard computer does some calculations.

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: ...I don't trust my VanZer's leg servos and shock absorbers at this height.

Ichirou Natsugawa: Neither do I, but what other option do we have, really? Josephine looks around and then to the side.

Josephine Fontainblanc: We could follow the cliff until we find a gentler slope, or at least, until the height difference gets small enough that we're safe jumping down.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: What? That will take too much time. The Mu we're tracking will definitely get away while we're busy finding the easy way down!

Ichirou Natsugawa: It is too dangerous to jump, or even climb down, though! It risks damage to our Mecha and potential danger to ourselves, as well!

Josephine Fontainblanc: How about this: those who feel like jumping, jump, the others take the easy path.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: I can Pilot my mecha down there easy.

Ichirou Natsugawa: You want to split the squad? Trust me I know from experience how well *that* goes.

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: Okay, guys, stop! We're getting nowhere. Eva types something on her console and then looks directly at the camera.

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: Commander, Subcommanders, what should we do?

A) Find an easier and safer way down the cliff? (This could potentially result in only partial completion of objectives)
B) Begin descending the cliff immediately? (This will require some tricky Piloting rolls which might quite well end in damage to Mecha and injuries to Pilots)
C) Split the party? (This is obviously the most dangerous of options in case something bad does happen, but has potential to nullify the downsides of both of the above)

11th Early Summer 1880 - Late Evening

Agua Fria, City Streets
Miguel Manuello de la Costo (Kashyyk), Jackson "The Shootist" Rex (AzyWng), Pat "the Ghost" Gibbet (notquitethere)
(Provisions Spent: 3.5 each!)

The posse arrives in Agua Fria.

People are walking down the streets, carrying their belongings or entering or exiting the various salloons in the city. Lanterns and candles are lit in the homes, their light shining through the windows.

The city is at peace.

906
You wander to the sensors console to check who's coming.

Sensors Station Alert! IFF beacon translation in progress...

Done!

"Matilda", Pocket-class Personal Travelcraft, approaching from direction of Eta Coridani Jump Gate.

Standard docking and refueling request received.

Fuel Pump assigned: #6 (authority: Automated Refueling AI)

Estimated arrival time: 6 minutes.

You wager there's exactly one potential client on board, given the ship's description.

A) Invite them anyway!
B) Eh, not worth the bother.

907
Poked them few times to no avail :P

908
"Please come again."

"The journey decides, not us. We are but leaves on the cosmic stream." Veran-Bok says, then stands up. He touches his forehead, then extends his palm upwards, you assume, in some sort of good-bye gesture.

Then he turns around and leaves, his Kos and Momet-Mo walking after him in a neat line.

You begin cleaning after the latest parties.

1236USY.5d/1m.1324h

Just as you put down the cleaning tools and sit down behind the bar to catch the breath, you hear a sensor alarm.

You realize that Veran-Bok has left few minutes ago, so there's only one explanation - another ship is coming to refuel!

A) Time to invite them over for drinks!
B) I had enough clients for now, let's resume reading maintenance manuals!
C) I had enough clients for now, time to read some interesting bartending trivia!
D) I had enough clients for now, time to continue the Zirconius series!

You decide to be a good host according to the rules and tell the guards to bring the Rucusians in.

As expected, their entry, with their white cloaks and menacing black eagles painted on them, chainmail clinking underneath, sure make the music stop and the laughter still on the mouths of party-goers. Their eyes look upon the cloaked knights as they make their way to your central table, and their leader salutes to you.

"Damed bless your marriage, Emperor of Methiant. The people of Rucus bring you this as a gift." He takes some long, thin item, clothed in red velvet, from the hands of his right-hand knight, and extends it to you.

Cautiously - with Shadowranks stepping closer in case this is foul trickery - you grab the long item, immediately realizing it is some sort of sheathed blade, from the feel of the shape underneath the red velvet.

You unwrap the velvet and soon a sea of murmurs and gasps comes from the mouths of more learned courtiers. You yourself quickly unsheathe the artifact blade, and its enchanted point shines in the light of the torches within your feast hall.

It is the Blade of Puncturing, the very one your father lost during his last battle!

"King of Rucus, Rumus II, sends his regards. Let the bygones be bygones, he says, for whilst heathens, Methiantese make for amicable neighbours, at least some of the time." He says, placing his mailled hands upon his heavy belt.

Courtiers murmur and gasp and sigh in happiness as you inspect the blade for faults or damage but find naught. For this...

A) ...the Rucusians will receive honor seats at your right side!
B) ...the Rucusians will be allowed to remain and partake in the festivities!
C) ...the Rucusians will be allowed to leave unharmed!

"That is fairly reasonable. Agreed, we can swallow this bitter drink of tribute." Your words are welcomed with noise and murmur and the Advisor has to calm the courtiers once again. This admission of defeat sure won't do your authority well.

1218 AD, Winter

The joyful day of your marriage to young Mera has arrived, and so did the bride!

She is a tall, but a rather thin, girl, with a rather fragile shape of a body. Her long black hair and charming smile do go well with the sharp blue eyes she possesses, though.

The ceremony goes without a problem and the marriage feast begins in earnest!

Much to your dismay, and dismay of your courtiers, no one from your extended family showed up. The bride's father, Aron, showed up with his two sonds, Leath and Ethil. The only representative, if any, of Eldrican, is your elder cousin Rubert, but after giving felicitations on behalf of his brother Feir, King of Eldrican, it is obvious he isn't here to discuss politics with you. No one from Brynwald's family or Helliste court came at all.

Few hours into the feast, the castle guards arrive to bring you urgent news.

"Your Majesty, a delegation of Rucusian knights and lords have arrived. They say they're here to congratulate you on your marriage. They've brought some sort of a gift, too, but they refused to say what." You quickly call up the Advisor, who brushes his beard thoughtfully.

"Well, it is in bad taste to turn away guests coming to partake in a wedding or funeral celebrations, especially ones bringing gifts, but on other hand, they were on the side of our enemies just few months ago, my liege."

A) "Today we drink and make merry, lets have Rucusians taste Methiantese hospitality for once!"
B) "Turn them away, I do not want such a sweet celebration be soured by their presence!"
C) "They're enemies! And there's only one way to deal with my enemies! To the dungeon with them!!"

911
You decide to spend money to alleviate possible famine troubles before they truly begin.

811 AD, Midsummer

Terrible news arrive from the northwest!

Apparently, the troops of King Tastan combined with the men and supplies he received from you weren't enough; a major battle was lost pretty terribly by the young sovereign and his army suffered thousands of casaulties, and he had to move camp further southwest.

The messenger who brought the news kneels before you as your courtiers murmur and gasp at this unfortunate turn of events.

"With this report my lord, King Tastan, pleads for more troops and supplies from his staunchest of allies, King Velarien of Bailemarr."

A) "Extra troops he can have, but I have no more money to share."
B) "Agreed! He shall have the money and troops he needs - again!"
C) "I can send him some money, but I need my troops here."
D) "Alas! I have nothing to give, be gone now!"

912
You shrug and do some bartending.

1236USY.5d/1m.1316h

"I am awaken." Veran-Bok stirs in his seat, and then leans towards his Kos with a semi-awaken stare.

"Our time is coming to an end in this location." Veran-Bok muses.

A) "Please come again."
B) "How about one more glass of synthol?"

913
8th Early Summer 1880 - Late Morning
Mountains (E8), East-Southeast of Santa Cruz
Miguel Manuello de la Costo (Kashyyk), Jackson "The Shootist" Rex (AzyWng), Pat "the Ghost" Gibbet (notquitethere)

Pat finds in the shack some clothes, utensils, a convenient shovel, and most importantly, enough dried meats and tin cans to last two men a ten-day trek through the prairie. (+20 Provisions)

Jackson gets the provisions carried once by the dead Guy. (+8 Provisions)

And Miguel then checks the pockets of the two dead outlaws, finding 7$ on Ian's and 12$ on Michael's body.

914
"Momet-Mo, please come back." You call for the young Vahin'Ti in the spacesuit.

Momet-Mo, all three Kos, and then Veran-Bok, snapping out of his drunken stupor, look at you incredulously as if you've just commited some sort of a crime.

"Momet-Mo, you shall return immediately." Veran-Bok turns to look at Momet-Mo who is already busy climbing down from the music box. He runs back to the counter and looks his parent in the eyes.

"Have your demeanor been unpleasant?"

"No!"

"You shall remain at the seating."

"As you wish." Veran-Bok watches as Momet-Mo walks to the nearby stool and sits down on it. Crossing his arms stifly on his legs, the young Vahin'Ti stares at you, with a little line of skin forming between his eyes.

1236USY.5d/1m.1300h

Momet-Mo fidgets a little on his seat. The Kos stand behind Veran-Bok idly.

As for Veran-Bok himself, he has resumed the stiff silence of before.

A) Try offering the Kos drinks again.
B) "Do you wish for another drink, Veran-Bok?"
C) Shrug and do some bartending and glasscleaning or something.

915
You go check the sensor ping.

It is, indeed, the 'Victory or Flight' leaving the station and is headed for Gamma Urquanii Jump Gate.

You return to the main hall. Veran-Bok is still in his drunken detached delirium phase, his Kos protectively stand watch behind him.

Meanwhile the young Momet-Mo has managed to climb to the top of the music box and sat down there, eyeing the neons above his head with a very determined stare.

A) Call Momet-Mo to come back.
B) Repeat the offer to the Kos.
C) Start cleaning up after the humans.
D) Wake Veran-Bok and ask him to keep his kid near.
