You have the guards take both of the envoys out as there will be no deal!

Later that day, few of your courtiers speak with you.

"Shall we leave this secret of the southland as is, my liege?"

A) "Nah, we will send our spies east and west to find out why our neighbours want this land so badly."
B) "Nah, we will buy services of the dwarves - after all, they're experts in matters of soil and rock."
C) "Yes - until someone tells us the truth, it will be settled on and farmed on as any other part of Methiant."

You calm then down and in a discussion with both, you attempt to squeeze the secret of the southern bits of land.

Unfortunately they do not spill the beans (crafty bastards!), and repeat their plea to be the sole negotiators for the deal.

A) Have the Felonsine leave so you may conduct business with the Ceodwellian instead.
B) No deal to both! We just gotta find out the secret of the southlands in some other way, though.
C) Have the Ceodwellian leave so you may continue negotiating with the Felonsein envoy.

After a slow start as Dynastic China, my Chinese peasants began mining and farming en masse, producing enough troops to provide defense for our fledging civilization, hitting Bronze Age just as I had enough materials for a host of phalanxes and catapults.

Then I started to make troops and push against the opposition. Thanks to the bonuses I had, the crossbowmen and pikemen just kept going as the Chinese civilization kept progressing through the ages at ridiculous speeds.

By the time we've hit gunpowder eras, our halberdiers were swarming over half of the map, and a new complement of basilisk guns were super effective against enemy fortifications, especially as Chinese siege engines have extra range and rate of fire.

The last of our opponents were waddling through the muck of Middle Ages while Chinese civilization was mastering Industrial era concepts of steam engines, explosives and anaesthesia. Nothing could stop the Chinese tide, and the map was conquered in span of fifteen minutes.

The Felonsine envoy is let in.

"Greetings, oh noble, gracious and most shrewd King Yoe of Methiant! My mistress and liege, Queen Karkhuta, have heard that you wish to sell some small parcels of land in your south to the Ceodwells. While she has no detail of the Ceodwellian offer, in her wisdom and generosity she offers you something even better - a dozen of the fearsome Blackheart siege engines, for your own use, along with a team of expert operators." Courtiers murmur and gasp at this wondrous offer; Fireblood powder is rare, expensive and hard to get or produce, and even more so a properly assembled team of Blackhearts, the siege engines in question producing lots of smoke, thunderous roars, not to mention they smash fortifications with ease.

"Furthermore-"

*SLAM!*"

"Now what's this!?" Yells the Ceodwellian envoy who just barged into the throne room. "How dare you, King Yoe, conduct business over the lands that you wanted to sell to my master, King Aun!"

"Why is this Ceodwellian let in? Do you have no guards, King Methiant!" The Felonsine diplomat steps aside to dodge a Ceodwell's fist.

"This is an outcry! Dishonor! Shame upon you! Those are Ceodwellian lands by promise and by ancestry! Begone, Felonsine pig!"

"As if!" The westerner shouts back. "We offer fearsome siege engines and not just few tons of cheap low quality silver from the land of poverty that is Ceodwell!"

They descend into a shouting contest. You decide to...

A) Have the guards remove the Ceodwellian so you may continue negotiating with the Felonsein envoy.
B) Shush both envoys and try to sneakily wrangle out a confession out of them - something's valuable hidden under the southern dirt and you seem to be the only one not knowing.
C) Have the guards remove the Felonsine so you may conduct business with the Ceodwellian instead.

9337
You send a reply to Aun; if he can get you more coin, you can part with the lands he wishes to obtain.

1077 AD, Midwinter

Two messengers arrive; one from King Aun of Ceodwell, and the other is from Queen Karkhuta of Felonsein. Ceodwellian is here to negotiate on terms of the land selling; while the envoy from Felonsein refuses to talk publicly about his goal.

The guards ask which one you want to talk with first.

A) Let's conduct ongoing business before starting another: Ceodwell!
B) Surely we might be onto some even better deal: Felonsein!

You order the Marshal to guard the northern border for now.

1077 AD, Winter

An emissary from King Aun of Ceodwell have arrived!

He has heard of you selling away southern part of Methiant, and thus is asking that you return the ancestral lands of Ceodwells to him; that being the parts of Methiant that lie between Zasitost and the Ironbone Mountains.

King Aun is willing to pay you, his son-in-law, a proper tribute for next fifteen years in exchange for that territory.

A) Fine, that is the right amount for another parcel of land.
B) What is he, mad? I'm not selling away any more of my lands!
C) Naw, that just won't do, but let's try to squeeze some more money from our family!

9340
You tell the Marshal that he is in charge of the troops and has to drive Cydwyls out.

1077 AD, Mid-Autumn

After month of fighting, the Marshal sends his report from the frontlines; the silver mines have been secured and the raiders drove out, but he reports that Cydwyl border forts are well garrisoned, according to his spies and scouts, and any retaliatory attack will surely be a bloody mess.

A) Press on! We shall pay Cydwyls eye to eye!
B) Then stay at the border and guard it.

You agree to give away Southern Territories to Lametania in exchange for troops, money, and you set the girl up with your son (whenever you get one), as you're already married and the girl in question is barely thirteen.

1077 AD, Summer

The switch of lands went smoothly and an entourage of Lametanian soldiers arrives at your palace, with wagonloads of coinage and thrice-signed pile of documents which allows you to call upon Lametanians if needed.

Few days alter you become a father! Your wife Auga gives birth to a healthy baby boy, whom she names 'Estant'. He will succeed you as Yoe II, when you die and he of course does not decide to adopt some other regnal name.

1077 AD, Autumn

Disastrous news from northeast! The Cydwyl soldiers have crossed the Methiant border via north and raided several settlements, while a large contingent of troops is now laying siege to the fortified settlement near the silver mines.

The Marshal bursts into the room, the cape flowing behind him.

"It is time for us to CRUSH SOME ENEMIES, MY LIEGE!" He booms proudly. "Shall you join us on this expedition!?"

A) "VERILYYYYYYYYY!"
B) "Nah, you take charge of it, dear Marshal, I ain't no soldier."
C) "What expedition? Surely this is misunderstanding of sorts, I'm actually in middle of writing a letter to Cydwyl royalty, you see."

9343
You call for the Treasurer so he can come and get the dwarves the proper amount of money. Later they leave with a wagonload of wealth while your wife clasps the dwarven artifact around your necklace.

One day later a message arrives from Lametania.

Quote
6*

King Salus IV promises to pay you a mountain of wealth in return for the Southern Territories. Additionaly, he offers the hand of his eldest daughter to you in marriage, as well as to provide troops for Methiant in case of war, but only once. There's also a possibility of him surrendering one of the two family artifacts - Murder Time, an obsidian-head mace with iron shaft, which strikes with such magickal force that even smallest of wound bleed heavily and give pain to the unfortunate victim.

You decide to...

A) Sell the Southern Territories in exchange for the girl, troops and money.
B) Sell the Southern Territories in exchange for the artifact weapon, Murder Time.
C) Attempt to squeeze all four from King of Lametania.
D) Refuse to sell Southern Territories, citing inadequate price for the land.

9344
You send him a reply in which you demand something equally valuable.

1077 AD, Mid-Spring

The dwarves emerge from their dungeon forge, carrying a large necklace; it is silver with small round pieces of black ore, most surely Sky Iron, some of the eyes of the necklace having ambers adorning them. The leader of the dwarves steps forward as his brethren keep the necklace in the hands.

"And here it is, human king, as promised, after 100 days we present you the necklace your asked for. It shall serve its wearer well, that we promise. Now, per the terms of our contract, we ask to be paid." You decide to...

A) Seize the necklace and throw the dwarves into dungeon!
B) Send for the Treasurer and pay the dwarves for their work.

9345
You decide to raise the tax for the next year.

1077 AD, Spring

A message arrives from Lametania.

Their king claims ownership of the Southern Territories, or rather the Methiant part of it, citing various old sources plus the fact that before your predecessor's savage and expansionist rule, the land was full of Lametanians.

King Salus IV thus demands the return of the land to his people, either by agreement or per show of force. You reply that...

A) He can kiss your arse and take it only after he bests your soldiers!
B) You can agree to give away the lands only for properly big monetary payment.
C) You can agree to give away the lands, but he needs to make a really good offer for it, and you're not talking money here.
