No opinion on this one, but I do wonder if our son Wynn has helped recover our relationship with our current wife.

He is product of that repair, mostly ;v

She married a war hero, but Estwalf hardly did any war-heroing after marrying her, so when he won the war of heresies, they banged and now Ygwylla loves her war hero once again.

//Matthew didn't bless Cedric cuz equipping/dequipping stuff takes a whole turn. Not that Cedric really needed the bless.

The big skeleton was heavily damaged in the onslaught, but carried on.

You declare the end of emergency, releasing the draftees to their homes, but you also order taxes raised to secure a supply of money just in case.

984 AD, Spring

While you're sipping your wine and reading a book of comedies, your second wife is sewing a scarf for little Wynn.

"Have you heard," She speaks up suddenly. "That your son and heir Atan is enamored with this Ogna from the north?"

"What Oinna?"

"Oh, she is one of the other cousins of your liege, King Eón. He's been cultivating the relationship since last year when they met by chance. Surely you have something to say about it?"

"Of course!" You say:

A) "He won't be marrying without my approval. I think I should find him a proper bride already."
B) "He can marry whomever he wants, though, I won't interfere."

9424
You order some units to be released from Army and made into road patrols.

983 AD, End of the Year.

The Advisor brings in the yearly report aka Scrolls of Kingdom Status:

Happiness: 5
Population: 5
Economy: 3
Army: 2(+1)

The Advisor sighs.

"I have received reports that soldiers drafted into emergency are openly grumbling by now; we should release them back home even if our numbers are still small. Also, the profits from gold mines alone couldn't outweigh our expenses this year. Shall we raise the taxes for a year, my liege?" You decide to...

A) Declare emergency over and raise the taxes.
B) Declare emergency over, but don't raise the taxes.
C) Continue the emergency and raise the taxes.
D) Continue the emergency, but don't raise the taxes.

You dismiss the Spymaster for now.

Few days later, caravan from the Damdamian Republic arrives.

Quote

The renewed access to glassware - or mayhaps the peace that returned to the Duchy - made people content and happy.

983 AD, Winter

Loads of gold and gems arrive in your Treasury, per usual.

Few days later you receive bad news from the east of your land; bandits are aplenty on the local roads! While there's no any large group to challenge your rule, nevertheless the mayors of the eastern cities ask you to disband part of the standing Army and employ them as road guards under the cities' banners.

A) Sure, safety and stability is important.
B) No, we need the soldiers! Surely the mayors can muster their own road guard.

9428
You instruct the Spymaster to get more info on the Agaresian court and to get Ulan some good words from you.

"Now onto my uncles."

"We have gathered naught of importance, unfortunately. Your uncles, Ceodwell III the Eldest, Ceodwell IV the Lame, and Ceodwell IV the Younger are in power in Kingdom of Ceodwell despite the fact that they all 'resigned' their powers into hands of your third-cousin, Ceodwell VI. They're old, but extremely stubborn and hold iron grip on the courtiers, the Army officers and liaisons to Kashite and Gubta, with whom they maintain close relationships. Ceodwell VI has naught real power but the support of Singularist cults, his Kashite wife and some dwarven merchants of Zasitost."

A) "Well that's boring. Have a nice day."
B) "Dig deeper, then! Surely there's some wealth of blackmail to be found."
C) "Hmm... go forth and make up some dirt so the old fat uncles of mine won't spend their final years in total prosperity."

9429
"AND!?" The Spymaster pulls out a parchment from inside of his robes.

"Your son Ulan has fled Gubta through Suravay forests and there spent a year living amongst the sons of a local Koi, which seems to be a man with the power equivalent of our local Dukes. There he has joined a troop meant to visit Agaresians, pale people who live in distant northeast of Gubta, and ride fearsome longnosed reptiles into battle. Unfortunately there was a political incident and Ulan and his few remaining servants and some Suravay soldiers got imprisoned, but the curiosity of an Agaresian warlord prevailed and now Ulan serves as a storyteller and curiosity in the court of the Agaresian warlord Mikhu. He enjoys many priviledges as a foreigner and his position in the court has brought him many favors from Agaresian nobles."

A) "Send an envoy to this Mikhu, demanding release of my son. At once!!"
B) "Send your bestest fighter-spies and bring Ulan to me! Now go!"
C) "Curious. Send another agent to gather more information... and to give Ulan my good word."

9430
You decide to lay low and by lay low you send spies into Ceodwell.

983 AD, Late Autumn

The Spymaster appears at your side after you finish a meal.

"Do you have anything on my uncles?"

"That, and something else."

"Oh?" The Spymaster pauses dramatically.

"One of my agents that went east have returned after half a year journey. He has spoken with Ulan and I have his report."

A) "THEN SAY IT."
B) "About my uncles first."

Was tempted with A though. Really tempted.

You decide not to force your people to stay in your Duchy, but you send an angry letter - one of the n-th by now - asking they don't sow discontent in your lands.

Quote
5to6

Some few thousand people do leave your lands, and no riots occur. Your noblemen do bemoan and grumble at the loss of so many taxpayers and workforce.

983 AD, Mid-Autumn

Your wife gives birth to a boy! She names him 'Wynn', after a great conqueror of old.

Few days later you receive a reply from your uncles; their response is basically telling you to be more open-minded about people's spiritual needs, lest you suffer another religious war.

Also that they will proclaim whatever edicts they feel like.

Your noblemen are rustled with discontent.

"Your uncles from Ceodwell are making you a laughing stock, sire! It is time to act! We should show them the might of our forces!"

"Nay, our Army is weak and people angry after previous war. Let us ask our senior to rattle his saber, as Ceodwells seemingly are forgetting whom we serve!"

"Oafs! All this will bring us into further conflict with the easterners. We should instead wait few more years, so our people rest and our forces recuperate their losses!" Ultimately, the decision is up to you.

A) It is time for WAR!
B) Let's ask King Eón to diplomacize on our behalf.
C) For now, we shall do nothing rash.
D) Maybe send some spies to get dirt on Ceodwells?
