The bird flew past the fireball.

Cedric got blessed by Matthew.

~~Enemies Turn!~~

Then the earth burst open! The ravens, all scared, flew away at full speed while a giant skeleton began to crawl from the open pit!

You have the money delivered for the young alchemists.

983 AD, Late Summer

Your son sends a reply.

Quote

He actually managed to convince his noblemen to accept Pantheonism! While no temples are built yet, the centuries-long Lametanian dislike for polytheism has begun to melt.

983 AD, Autumn

You learn of a Ceodwellian edict today.

Your homeland nobility has declared unanimously that the Kingdom is tolerant to all faiths, and is calling upon Singularists, Acceptants and others in lands that opress them, to abandon their lords and flock under the banner of House Ceodwell.

Your courtiers murmur with dissapproval - after all, you're the only one to lately oppress any religious minorities.

As for the possible citizen exodus...

A) You shall do nothing; your subjects aren't your slaves, so they can move around if they want.
B) You declare that citizens of Tven who attempt to abandon the country will be persecuted.
C) You declare that citizens of Tven of forbidden faiths still have to pay a tax if they want to leave.

As for the edict of your uncles and neighbours...

A) You send a letter to your uncles, asking that they do not incite disloyalty amongst your people.
B) You send a letter to your uncles, demanding they reverse the edict, or there will be WAR!
C) You shall do nothing - foreign edicts aren't your business, after all.

//No split votes, etc.

9441
You ask them to tell what they came up with so far.

"We're created a black, thick substance that ignites well and is hard to extinguish with water. We've put it in canisters made of ceramics that can contain the substance and will protect it from heat of the sun."

"And what you gonna work on next?"

"A reliable way of delivery, sire; canisters must have their length of rope lit and then tossed, and it is hard to time these two things well. We've tried catapults, and that made the royal forester rather mad last week."

A) "Fine, you will have the money. Put it to good use!"
B) "And that's all? Pshaw! Get from my sight before I arrest you for squandering the Duchy's money!"

You yell at the guards so that they take care of this little upstart.

Quote
5

When he tries to fight them, one of the guards clubs him over his head, knocking him out. They toss Avrast into the dungeon - problem solved.

983 AD, Midsummer

The alchemists are asking for audience.

"Greetings, Grand Duke! Here we are, toiling hard, trying to recreate Fireblood or a substance similar to it. Our funds have ran out, and we again lack resources. Mayhaps you could sponsor our efforts once again?"

A) "Gladly."
B) "And what have you produced with the funds and resources already given to you?"
C) "Naw, shoo with you."

9444
You order the emergency mobilization to be extended, but you won't be burdening your subjects with higher taxes.

Quote
4

There's only some sporadic grumbling amongst young soldiers, but nothing comes of it. The officers note that it might be unwise to extend the emergency again.

983 AD, Summer

You really had three months of peace.

Then, when you're having a discussion with your courtiers about the arrangements for the planned flower garden, a young man bursts through the window on a rope! He brandishes his sword at you.

"Usurper! I hath come to claim the throne of Tven and continue my father's legacy, for I am Avrast, son of Merachd!! Prepare to die!"

A) Accept the duel and fight the upstart.
B) Yell at the guards to do their job already.

9445
You call upon the depleted Army and the Pantheonists to provide strength to deal with this heretical menace.

982 AD, Late Winter

Quote

They deal with it. While few thousand die in subsequent purges, nobody dares rise against your policies afterwards!

Few days later you remember the other half of promise and send your son a letter, asking him politely to open the theological borders of his Kingdom for the Pantheonists.

982 AD, End of the Year

The Advisor brings the Scrolls of Kingdom Status for your perusal.

Happiness: 4
Population: 6
Economy: 4
Army: 2(+1)

"As you can see, my liege, the Duchy is in bad shape after the recent war. Furthermore, the builders believe that renovation of the Grand Temple will consume resources for next four years at least. I've got more bad news, unfortunately: due to the internal war and the purges we weren't able to procure enough youth to the Army ranks. We might need to extend the duration of mobilization, and the Treasurer believes raising of taxes is in short order."

You decide to...

A) Keep the population mobilized but don't raise the taxes.
B) Stop with the mobilization, and raise the taxes.
C) Don't raise taxes and send the emergency soldiers back home.
D) Raise the taxes and extend emergency mobilization for another year.

9446
Pulled straight out of our soldiers, demoralized, and then killed.

I just pictured this in that exact order. Goodness :D

You issue an edict that Singularism and its Acceptant offshoots are banned in the Duchy, and those caught will be fined enormously for breach of law.

Quote
2*

The cities south of Luathbas shall have none of it! Within a week you receive reports of riots and monotheist gangs forming in the cities!

"It's now obvious how many heretics the south harbors!" Says one of the nobles. "We must once again go forth and purge our lands from those despicable heretics!"

"It's because we tried to ban a major cult that is Singularism!" Says one other. "Our lord the Duke needs to retract his edict, this is the only way to calm the masses!"

Ultimately, you decide to...

A) Withdraw the edict at once to spare the Duchy another internal war.
B) Call in the Army and Pantheonist militants to crush the southern rebels once again.
C) Put trust in city guards and Pantheonist faithful and let them deal with the riots.

After Julius yoinked all the loot from under Reynauld's nose, the group moved on.

They passed near few ravens nibbling on a pair of corpses near an old, rotten signpost. For a moment, it looked like normal ravens - they their eyes flashed red!

The angry birds flew into the air as the two corpses rose from the ground...
