You have the diplomat from your liege brought in first.

"Greetings! King Eón's naval campaign against the pirates of Alba progresses well, and he has you to thank for the wealth you've provided for his ships and his sailors' pay. Therefore, King Eón wishes to reward you and had sent me with this question: would you be happy if you could skip the next year's tribute you owe to the Throne of Dahnia?"

A) "Sure, that will do nicely. Send my regards to our good King!"
B) "Hmm, no. I can't think of anything else though, so let's say we will call in his favor on a later date, perhaps?"

Party time sponsored by higher-ups is best party time!!

You have two delegates waiting at your gate. One is from Kingdom of Ceodwell, and the other is from your liege, King Eón of Dahnia.

A) Well, our liege takes priority, of course!
B) Let's see what our family wants this time!

You attempt to convince the nobles to believe in Ulan's return.

Many grumble, but they seem accepting of this. They will surely grumble again soon enough.

The caravan from Damdamia unloads its glass wares and quickly earns hard cash from it, taking your malachite stones with them.

Everyone in the capital city - and beyond - talks only about this fine glasswares lately. People are ecstatic to have access to such valuable, quality items for everyday use. They praise your resourcefulness.

The harvests were pretty bontiful this year, mostly due to Hurthlings' expertise in the field (ha!), as the weather was relatively harsh this summer.

Governors and priests alike believe that this is a good moment to thank the deities for good harvest and for the people to consume part of their foodstuffs and beverages in a large harvest festival sponsored by the Duke.

A) Sure, let's partaaay!
B) Naw, not this year.

Technically 1 slot open unless Roboson fixed his sheet.

"You will be traveling incognito so nobody can use you for their political advantage... I will arrange you two dozen guards, a personal healer, a linguist, maybe a cook, an appriaser or accountant could be useful to you as well..."

Seven nights from that moment, you bid your son farewell. Under the darkness of the clouded night sky, you watch the caravan of thirty people on horses quietly leave the city through the gate, with you watching. Ulan turns in his saddle and raises his hand at you in a goodbye, and then you never see him again.

...Nah, just joking with the last part.

We will see how it goes!

The courtiers murmur and buzz after the secret about Ulan's voyage became well-known.

"Sire! We ask you that you consider making Atan your son and heir. He might have nothing special about him except his endurance and health, but Ulan might not return fast enough in case you die."

A) "No! Ulan shall be the only heir!"
B) "Fine, I will include Atan's succession in my will."

Yes, cost reductors stack.

You decide to grant him his request.

"I can't send you alone of course." You add. "You will go with..."

A) "Half a dozen of most loyal and skilled guards."
B) "Two dozen guards and few servants to keep your things in check."
C) "A hundred of people, with many horses, and some wealth so you can buy your way out of trouble if necessary!"

"Of course, you will be..."

A) "Wearing the colors of Tven and you wil be carrying a letter from me, which should open you at least a few gates and doors."
B) "Traveling incognito - the less the outsiders know, the safer your journey can be."

//No split votes pls.

You greenlight the Advisor's plan.

976 AD, Spring

Your wife gives birth to another child! It's a girl she names 'Astrid'.

976 AD, Autumn

The Marshal arrives at your audience room with several officers in new outfits of the Army.

"This is the new beginning for our land forces, my liege! No longer we will depend on untrained commoners! The change of the military structure will be announced across the Duchy within half a year. Soon, letters of conscription will arrive in thousands of households!"

Congratulations! Grand Duchy of Tven successfully reorganized its Army to a professional and mandatory training model:
You will no longer be able to just grab peasants and mercenaries during End of the Year summaries to replenish Army numbers.
The Army will continuously maintain (or at least, try to maintain) a high level on its own and will cause a constant drain on Economy (currently easily countered).
As mentioned by the new Marshal, you just received a small Population penalty to kick-start the mandatory conscription&training scheme. Unfortunately this has stopped the annual Population tax from giving your profits at the moment.
In times of emergency, you will be able to order mobilization of a chunk of male popualtion for a certain amount of time.

You congratulate them all and then express your wishes that they do their best. They promise to do so!

976 AD, Winter

Revenues form gold mines plus the tax from dwarves of Zonalath have been placed in your Treasury.

976 AD, End of the Year

The year came and went, just like that.

People prosper, your sons are becoming adults, malachite is ready to be sent abroad, the Army slowly expands and the Advisor arrives to bring you the Scrolls of Kingdom Status.

Happiness: 4
Population: 7
Economy: 7
Army: 5

All is well in the Grand Duchy.

"Father, I wish to see the East." Ulan comes to your study one evening.

"East? There's naught but trolls and Gubta there."

"No! That's over the border... I mean, really far East! We've got nothing on the lands of east." Ulan starts pacing about the room.

"West is populated by dwarves, nomads, the republicans and other peoples, and even elfs. South is filled with the Damdamians, their vast empire and their politicians. But to the east lies an Empire that rarely deals with us, and we know nothing of lands beyond." Seems like your son and heir has a geographer bug in him. Or cartographer. Maybe both.

"Please, arrange a caravan for me so I can set forth and explore the distant East."

A) "You're my heir! No way I will send you into the unknown. What if you get kidnapped for ransom, or worse yet, slain by some alien peoples!"
B) "As much as it pains me to send you away, I shall bow to your request, my dear boy."
C) "I won't let you go that far... but how about I arrange you a tour of the eastern neighbours? You could visit the Kashite, Ceodwell, maybe even Gubta borderlands..."

9595
As you look at the wagons filled with wealth move northwards under guard, you're sure that your generosity will be appreciated by Dahnians.

Also, royal architects and builders have finished refurbishing your palace. Walls were renovated, towers and few guest chambers enlarged, and a new tiled roof shines in the sunlight.

It's that time of the year again.

"The reform of military continues and we cannot hire mercenaries... but we can press some peasants into it."

"That will cause unrest." The Advisor nods.

"Yes, but we can also sponsor some festivals and parades to lift the spirits of the people."

A) "Agreed, we will sponsor some festivals while pressing peasants into the Army ranks."
B) "Hmmm, nah, let's go as is for now."

You disband part of the Army and make them into road patrols.

975 AD, Summer

An envoy from King of Dahnia has arrived!

The Dahnian northlands are beset by 'pirates of Alba' as the envoy describes them. King Eón wishes for you to provide money as he wishes to recruit the Hel fishermen and sailors to staff his ships, which also require resources (and thus money).

You decide to...

A) Provide some money, but not enough to cover all of Eón's expenses.
B) Provide nothing, you ain't Dahnia's piggy bank!
C) Provide enough money for both recruits and ships.

Does Bloodbath require a to-hit roll?

Unlike all other 'splash' spells, Bloodbath doesn't require to-hit roll, hence relatively low damage.

You calm them down and ask what is the matter. They complain about lack of safety on the roads; after Alliance collapsed, many of its military and less than agreeable figures took upon banditry for a living. You promise to have it solved.

When you return to the palace, you...

A) Have part of the Army disbanded and put into road guard duties.
B) Forgot about the whole thing and resume your usual business.
C) Send the Army to ex-Luthian territory and do a bandit wipe.
