You order the Army to amass into a large block that will strike the centre; your horsemen will fall upon one of the flanks in the meanwhile.

Quote

The battle begins badly as the mass of Luthian soldiers and mercs presses hard upon your men from most sides except the rear.

Quote

But soon the order of battle crumbles by the Luthian flank! The horsemen of yours struck into their side, sending one of the 'blocks' of foot and archers fleeing toward the centre of the Luthians' ranks. About a thousand or maybe thousand-and-half soldiers has been shaved from the hands of Luthian commanders.

This allows your Army to push forward against the centre. The fighting is heavy but it's clear that discipline and morale of your veteran soldiers, under your command, fares better than a motley ranks of mercenaries under nebuluous directives of city mayors and politicians.

You hear a horn - the Luthian nobility is charging the front!

These well-trained horsemen break through the front ranks! And the seconds! Soon you see a couple of them near your position - and one of them points his warhammer at you, issueing a challenge! With a yell, he steers his galloping horse toward you!

A) I don't wanna die, ruuuuun!!
B) CHAAAARRRGGEEE!!!

Solifuge should know better than allow bay12ers flounder towards disaster if one's a possibility.

Therefore:

This is a perfectly reasonable course of action that we will almost certainly not regret later.

You tell him to drop the work on coal efficiency - new designs are more important.

"As you wish, Sir. Have a pleasant day."

1900 AD, Spring, Week 3

You receive completion reports from Spleenpool and Dabblin Naval Yards; a troopship and a minelayer has been completed, respectively. Their Masters have decided to extend the dredging works onto the newly vacant docks.

Pinkegaard dutifuly updates the Yard roster:

Spoiler: Yards (click to show/hide)

Few hours later, Pinkegaard picks up a phone call. You finish your tea just in time for him to enter your room.

"My Lord, its Eisyn Navak, Yardmaster of Dabblin. A fire broke out at the coal storage there!"

You have the call routed to your room immediately.

"I hope your day is better than ours, Sir Reginald! The firefighters are busy extinguishing the coal storagehouses at our Yards. I cannot speak about the damages yet, but I fear that entirety of our coal supplies might end destroyed if the fire continues. I had all crew and civilians evacuated, of course. No threat to 'Star of Kings' as of yet, Sir." You only now notice Pinkegaard trying to get your attention.

"A moment please, Mr.Navak." You look at Pinkegaard.

"Sir Reginald, Lord Enval, Speaker of the Parliament, wishes to meet with you." You decide to...

A) Have Lord Enval wait while you deal with the disaster report from Dabblin Yards.
B) Ask Mr.Navak to call in about half an hour as you have an important guest from Parliament.

You decide to rest and prepare for combat tomorrow.

...

You wake up, sitting in middle of battlefield. In your hand is Ancient Terror, it's shaft comfortably warm in touch.

Then you see a fresh corpse of a warrior, draped in bloodied banner of Kingdom of Dahnia. But the color doesn't match...

Trio of ravens are hopping about at its corpse, but when one tries to dip its beak to get tasty bits, the other two work together to scare him off. This continues for a while and then you hear lots of neighing.

Horses, galloping in the distance, behind some hills that surround the battlefield. Then you hear their riders, shouting collectively one word in ecstatic manner, but you can't quite make the word out.

Then you see that one of the ravens have left the other two who continue bickering over the corpse. This lone raven is staring at you, and then you notice that it's carrying a golden crown in its beak-

You are woken up.

The servants bring in morning meal and moments later scouts arrive. The Luthians have gotten their act together and are marching towards you in three large groups; melee soldiers in front with all the bow-and-crossbowmen behind, skirmishers between the three groups, the cavalry unit between center and left group. They will be upon the camp within minutes! You decide to quickly order...

A) Formation of protective ring around the camp.
B) Formation of standard battle lines, with cavalry at the rear for now.
C) Formation of a huge block that strikes the center as the cavalry falls upon one flank.
D) Tactical retreat to find a better battlefield, if possible.

You have the call routed to your room.

"Sir Reginald, good day to you, may the One bless you with good health, and so on. Dear Sir, it came to my attention that rather than changing the design priorities of your predecessor, you have added upon our list! I do not have enough men, resources or time to pursue four projects in the same time. I ask you that you cancel the demand for these oil-fired boilers of yours."

A) "My good man, I trust in the capabilities of yours and your junior designers. Please pursue the projects as listed."
B) "This is indeed a bit too much, let's remove..." (pick one of designs)
C) "Then I shall schedule an appointment with the Parliament and convince them to allocate more funds and people to your department!"

You order the currently unoccupied docks at Spleenpool, Dabblin and Mostnorth to be dredged and partially modernized if their Masters have time, men and resources to do so.

1900 AD, Spring, Week 2

Riiing, riiing, goes the telephone in your secretary's room. You hear Pinkegaard talk for a moment, and then he peeks into your room.

"My Lord, Sir Mostwest, Chief Designmaster, wishes to talk with you about the amount of designs currently on drawing board?"

A) "Tell him my orders are final."
B) "Route the line to my room, I will listen what he has to say."

9658
All things considered, I would place it at about 3000, much better trained, experienced and equipped than the Luthian bunch, but still, a low number ;v

Many posts, many appearances thorough the years and forum places.

The march continues southwards.

By the evening, your scouts bring in their reports; as many as 5000 Luthians have gathered, and its a true mish-mash of regiments; longbowmen, crossbowmen, pikemen, axe mercenaries, swordsmen, at least one unit of javelin skirmishers. Lots of foot soldiers, but only couple hundred of horsemen, most of them clad in light armor.

This grand collage of units is setting up a camp right south of your current position, so you decide to convene a council. Your officers draw up few ideas, and you decide to go with...

A) Cavalry attack in the late night, following by troop push by dawn.
B) Preparation for big battle in the morning - well-rested men are well-fighting men!
C) Push forward now, in a long line, and begin battle now.
D) Have the horsemen attack from one flank while the rest of your Army attacks through center.
