You give him a declaration of war, written in pretty cursive on vellum. The man absconds with terrified expression on his face.

"My liege!" The Marshal booms. "The people are tired of warring and might be demoralized with recent food shortages! Also I must ask, shall you lead the Army personally? And should we ask King Eón to provide troops? Maybe Lametanians?"

As for the low morale of peoples...

A) Compose a speech to rouse their spirits!
B) Demand their obedience because otherwise the foodstuffs they want will be gone forever!
C) Give each volunteer and draftee a coin from Treasury to buy their loyalty!

As for your participation in yet another campaign...

A) WHY DO YOU EVEN KEEP ASKING!?
B) Nah, not this time.

As for reinforcements...

A) We don't need them against a bundle of badly cooperating cities!
B) Let's ask our senior to provide troops for our war.
C) Let's ask Lametania to provide troops for our war.
D) Let's ask both so we drown our enemies in men and horses!!

//Per usual no split votes pls.

You have the money sent to the Hurthlings, under guard and with a lawmaster to ensure the Kashite won't try anything.

971 AD, Midwinter

"...and that is why the Luthian Alliance is seizing the grain shipments at the borders. You will pay for the right of passage through our lands for such large caravans! The council members would be pleased to receive the revenues from the Duaz mines twice in a row." The envoy, smirks and crosses his arms.

A) "They can keep the grain then, and fill their pockets with it! May they choke on it!"
B) "Their cruelty will be remembered - but fine, they shall have the money, as I value my subjects more than coin."
C) "The Alliance wants something from me? Fine! Here, take this declaration of war and deliver it to your masters!"

You send an envoy to Lametania.

970 AD, Late Autumn

Quote
5*

Queen of Lametania sends her regards and agreed to set a number of grain caravans to Tven; the Lametanians had bad harvest this year as well but the weather and harvests in previous years allowed them to stockpile enough foodstuffs to share some with you.

While it fixes the problem in only a short-term, the peasants are pacified and their bellies filled.

970 AD, Winter

The last of the chests filled with Dahnian coinage ends in the Treasury, and thus the Advisor turns to you.

"What shall we do with the money, my liege?"

A) "Keep it in my hoard, of course!"
B) "Procure more foodstuffs from abroad with it."
C) "Send it to Hurthlings to buy their freedom."

9710
You send an envoy to your senior with request for foodstuffs.

970 AD, Mid-Autumn

The envoys return; the one sent to the Kashite was turned away by their king. The one sent to Dahnia returns with words from your senior:

"The Kingdom of Dahnia is itself suffering from bad harvests, and therefore King Eón has no foodstuffs to provide for you. He can send you money to cover your expenses by Winter, however." You send the envoy to Dahnia with words of gratitude, but the problem of famine remains. It's time to...

A) Search for grain merchants and buy some grain with our own coin!
B) Grieve and despair about our terrible situation.
C) Seek a Wizard, as this is clearly supernatural occurence!
D) Demand grain from Lametanians as payment for our monetary aid in previous years.

9711
A, we can see what he has to say, THEN throw him into the dungeon.

9712
You send orders to the Treasurer to send the money. The envoy leaves praising your name.

Later that day you send a letter to the King of the Kashite, asking him to free the Hurthlings from their obligations, whatever they be.

970 AD, Autumn

Reports from the countryside suggest that there's lack of food in the Duchy!

Many a peasant suffers hunger as the harvests were less than optimal this year; normally they would suffice, but last losses of seed and influx of refugees has caused a true Famine to rear its head in your lands.

And there's no reply from the Kashite yet.

A) Let's buy foodstuffs from abroad!
B) We can perservere, for sure.
C) Time to beg our senior for help!

The vote is tied again at 7A, 7B.

We got the husband we want, now time to show we're not afraid to show him off nor we really shy away from looks of nobles.

You promise to send a letter to the Kashite king. The hobbit sighs, bows and leaves for now.

The emissary from Lametania is brought in next.

"Greetings, Grand Duke Estwalf, the Lizardslayer, Lord of Tven. The Kingdom of Lametania is in need of your riches again, as the Khanate has send demand for money that we can barely afford. Our expenses will either cripple our land or be taken care of with your money."

A) "Fine, we will send some money to help the Kingdom."
B) "Nah, the Queen dug a hole in which she is now."

Dreamt about delivering mail to elderly Hitler three times. First time he gave me a hand-signatured cope of Mein Kampf, and second time he gave a German dictionary v:

Third time it was just strawberry sweets. After I left his house, I had to run away from oversized mosquitos and I hid in an abandoned tank.
