You decide to reject the offer of help from dwarves. They look at you, then mumble and grumble amongst themselves.

"As you wish. Dwarves of Ankurvat will not help the Duchy." Then they all leave without any further words.

967 AD, Mid-Autumn

The last of soldiers borrowed for King Tinwulf II return triumphiantly after the final confrontation with the trolls; another 280 of the beasts were killed there and few fled eastwards, pursued by hunting parties of Dahnian elite horsemen. King Tinwulf II has been thus hailed as 'Trollslayer' by his soldiers, people, and others.

Meanwhile, the mountains in northwest continue to fume, albeit the whole phenomena died out a little bit, and no avalanches of large size were reported lately.

Also, your courtiers come to a decision that while the late Queen Stela cannot be forgotten easily, nonetheless the Duchy should have a Duke and a Duchess as royal representative.

They ask you to re-marry. You decide to...

A) Ask them to reconsider before you will marry them to some damp dungeon cells in return.
B) Let them find you some candidates for your new wife.
C) Tell them that you will do that in few years as your heart is still heavy.

Where's Shoruke :?

9785
You send a messenger to the dwarves of Ankurvat.

They appear after a week, bowing their heads. They all wear the dirty cloaks of earthsmiths rather than fancy robes of any other caste.

"Greeings, human leader. We come to answer the letter and yes we kow what it is that causes your mountain into rage; it is the foul magics of the lizardmen, who are attempting to burrow into outside world. We can solve this problem for a small amount of gold from your Treasury, as it is of interest of us to keep the underground lizards underground forever."

A) That is fine, the dwarves get some gold and we get some peace of mind.
B) Naw, we can deal with the problem ourselves.

9786
You decline to further negotiate with the Kashite, and the diplomat leaves your throne room.

967 AD, Autumn

A curious report came from the northwest of the Duchy - which isn't that far from the capital - about the mountains. People report low rumbling and rocky avalances coming down for no reason, and few claim they saw puffs of red thick smoke rise from the mountainslopes. You decide to...

A) Send a part of the Army to investigate.
B) Ignore these strange phenomena.
C) Ask the dwarves of Ankurvat for assistance.
D) Pre-emptively start looking for a Wizard.

You offer copper for the mercenaries.

"Feh! You offer such a weak and cheap metal for the precious lives of our soldiers? If feel insulted, and if not the orders of King Shishanak, I would leave at once!"

A) "Then go away, we won't have any deals done!"
B) "Apologies - how about payments in gold, then?"

9788
You order to stockpile the copper for resumption of trade with Calvendocians, whenever it might happen.

Then the Kashite messenger enters the throne room.

"Greetings, Duke of Tven. I'm here to propose a closement of ties between Tven and Kashite, and therefore we wonder if you would be interested in buying some of our fabled mercenary forces? Our peoples traveling through your country know that you happen to fight often and fight hard. My lord, Shishanak, offers to provide a thousand of swordsmen and a unit of Sirka riders every two years, in exchange for a large amount of precious gems and other wealth."

A) "We can pay in pure gold if that is alright."
B) "We can pay in refined copper if your master is interested?"
C) "No thank you, we don't need mercenaries."

9789
You decide to speak with Calvendocian envoy first.

"Greetings, Duke Estwalf, I bring perhaps unfortunate news. The Chanak Khanate and our peoples have descended into spiral of war once again, and therefore we're pushed to cancel any overly dangerous trade routes this year - and that includes the trade of luxuries for your quality copper. We hope to be able to reinstate the trade route once the Chanak can be persuaded to stop raiding our borderlands." As the diplomat leaves, the Advisor leans toward you.

"What shall we do about all the copper in the coming years, my liege?"

A) "We will sell it away, of course."
B) "Stockpile and reserve it for Calvendocians."

9790
You shall have a funeral for her attended by your family and important courtiers. It is a tragedy that your subjects will mourn on their own anyways.

In coming weeks you receive letters of condolences from Queen of Lametania, your senior King Tinwulf II, and even one from the court of Ceodwells.

967 AD, Summer

One hot morning, your gate guards enter your throne room.

"My liege, there are envoys from Kashite and from Calvendocians, both saying they're here to conduct trade business with you."

A) "Bring the Kashite diplomat first!"
B) "Bring the Calvendocian envoy first!"

9791
You agree on the deal and send instructions to stockpile the gold for Luthians this year. The delegates leave quite happy.

967 AD, Mid-Spring

Your wife gives birth to another child! The boy is named 'Eistan' by her.

Your dear wife falls ill from post-birth fever once again. The healers, again, promise to do everything they can.

Alas, as you pat the hand of your dead wife, you cannot hold back tears and sorrow. Your faithful wife passed away in her prime, having given you many good children.

A) It is time to mourn quietly and alone.
B) All of Tven will mourn her passing in a grandiose funeral attended by thousands of bereaved subjects!

You attempt to negotiate something.

Something that the delegates accept is an idea of split profits.

"Every second year the profits from the mines would be passed to the Council, and the other, to your coffers, starting from this year."

A) "Bah! This won't do, begone with you!"
B) "Uhhh, how about something else?"
C) "We have a deal, gentlemen."

9794
You decide to raise the taxes amongst peasants next year.

967 AD, Spring

A delegation of diplomats from Luthian Alliance has arrived at your palace; some world-ier of your courtiers mention that by the end of last year the Alliance ceased their internal hostilities.

The delegation is let in; thirteen men, each clad in different colors and different emblems sewn on their chests.

"Greetings, Duke Estwalf of Tven." One of them steps forward. "You may think that you have been smart, using our internal warring as an opportunity to take the Duaz mines from us. But you mistake our civil strife for weakness - for the warmongers were dealt with and we are stronger and united more than before." One other steps forward.

"The Council of Luthia therefore demands that you return the Duaz gold mines to the Alliance, or you and your Duchy will suffer consequences." You decide to...

A) Negotiate something, maybe?
B) Refuse their silly demands.
C) Turn over the mines to the Luthians.

9795
You decide to begin work on funding a long-term project to build new houses and settlements for your newest subjects.

966 AD, Midwinter

The revenues from this year's gold mining are in, supplying the Treasury with coin and gold nuggets.

And the trade with the Calvendocians brought new loads of exotic and quality goods for your peoples, brightening their moods once again.

966 AD, End of the Year

It's that time of the year.

Happiness: 5
Population: 5
Economy: 3
Army: 4

"Is our Treasury in a bad shape?" You ask, rubbing the 3 on the scroll.

"No, and yes, kind of, my liege. The settlement project will be draining our funds for next few years at least, plus we have spent a bit of money this year. Is there anything you want to do about this, mayhaps?"

A) "Nah, was just askin', bruh."
B) "Yes! The people are in good mood and surely won't mind increase in taxes for the next year!"
C) "Of course! Terminate that settlement project and raise the taxes, lest we fall into poverty!"
D) "Definitely, we will be terminating that settlement project, prolonged expenses are a no in my book."
