You arrange to have Salus sent to Lametania to become its next King, and also arrange your papers so that Ulan becomes your heir if something happens to you.

964 AD, End of the Year

Like every year, the Advisor shows you the Scrolls of Kingdom Status.

Happiness: 4
Population: 5
Economy: 5
Army: 4

These are fine numbers, you gotta admit.

"Also, the ducal scribes have finished updating the map of our surroundings."

965 AD, Spring

Interesting news from the south. The Luthian Alliance is in turmoil after a quarrel between two Mayors turned into a full-blown civil war with two warring sides, and the once allied city-states are now skirmishing against each other.

Your courtiers point out that it is a perfect opportunity to grab the mines in Duaz hills, where gold was and is still mined for.

A) Excellent! We shall grab the gold mines and crush those who try to stop us!
B) Nah, let's not upset our standing amongst our neighbours, lest we get drawn into a lengthy and costly conflict.

9812
You thank the seer and let him go.

Later that day you tell the Spymaster to recall his agents and abandon to unlawful pursuit of Fireblood.

The reports from the Duchy this year seems to indicate that your subjects continue to enjoy the fine crafts and goods from Calvendocia, but the Treasury failed to make profits out of the trade.

964 AD, Late Winter

Your wife asks for a private audience with you one evening.

"My dearest husband, I have recently received a letter from my distraught mother. She is worried about the future of the Lametania, and thus has asked whether we would be interested in having our oldest son become a designated heir of Lametania rather than a possible next Duke of Tven."

"He isn't even of age." You protest.

"I know, and she knows that, but she says she is willing to have this arranged to secure the future of Lametanian dynasty. After all, he is her grandson; there's no one else closer to Lametanian throne than our children and myself."

A) "Nay! I'm not going to send my firstborn son to rule a distant land."
B) "Fine, but tell your mother that Salus will leave for Lametania only when he becomes of legal age of rulership."
C) "Fine, we shall send Salus immediately, so your mother will be his regent and teacher in Lametanian culture and politics."

9813
The doomsayer is let in. He wears naught but a long robe, which is shorter than his unkept beard, which reaches to his ankles, and his long hair covers his shoulders in a flowing display.

"Duke of Tven! I saw the God of Knowledge speak to me! You are trying to learn forbidden knowledges!" The courtiers look at the guards, and guards look at the courtiers.

"Desist and repent! Or else, the God of Knowledge said, the flame of victory will become a blaze of destruction that shall consume you and your family!!" Some courtiers chuckle, some are annoyed, and you...

A) Get this madman thrown out by guards for saying absurd things.
B) Thank him for his warning and inform the Spymaster to stop looking for Fireblood.

9814
You order the Spymaster to send his agents into the distant lands of Calvendocia and discover the secrets of Fireblood.

964 AD, Winter

You hear very interesting and potentialy dire news; a terrible accident during a lavish feast have consumed part of the Lametanian Palace, killing King Salatus and all four of his sons who attended the ball. As King Sulas was the only son of Salatian, The King Who Rebelled, it puts the entire dynasty and future of Lametania in serious trouble.

Queen Tavena have declared a month of mourning in the nation, while your wife locked herself in her bedroom for a week to mourn.

Few days later, a traveling Pantheonist Seer appears at the gates of your palace. The guards say he is incensed and is here to warn about something terrible and advise you how to deal with it. You decide to...

A) Have the doomsayer shoo'd away.
B) Let him in and hear what he has to say.

Question is there a map from Luathbas times (aka Spamkingdom 1?)

Spamkingdom's original thread had maps posted every so often, I think the recentest was somewhere in 880's? Go check ;v

You offer to mediate between the two.

As they arrive in your throne room with their wives as witnesses, you tell them the need to cooperate and reassure them that you will help them settle their differences.

Later on as new evidence comes to light and stories are woven together, it turns out that it was Karn Mayor's wife who hired the thugs to punish her hubby for allegedly having an affair. She is dungeoned for her outburst while the two mayors become fast friends. Crisis averted!

Your fertile and productive wife gives birth to another son! Aren't she a pride of your family? She names the child 'Feodh', in honor of your glorious ancestor.

964 AD, Late Summer

The Spymaster bumps onto you in the palatial gardens.

"My liege, my agents have compiled a report on the Calvendocian Fireblood."

"And?"

"They've learned that Calvendonians bartered the Fireblood to the Chavak Khanate, which uses it for siege warfare. From the Chavak we have learned that Fireblood is comprised of coal, sulphur, tar, and two other ingredients, which come only from Calvendocians. These two ingredients are in mineral form, and a sample of Fireblood obtained by my agents was given to your scholars, my liege."

"Did they found out what these strange ingredients are?"

"Unfortunately, no. They assume it must be a rare mineral native to Calvendocian land as even the dwarven tomes of knowledge do not have any clues as to the mineral's origins."

A) "Thank you for your detailed report. Calvendonians must have a monopoly on Fireblood ingredients. I shall send an envoy asking them to sell us Fireblood and techniques of its making."
B) "Thank you for your detailed report, but I have no need of Fireblood."
C) "Then send your agents into the Calvendonian territories and get me the secrets of Fireblood!"

You decide to push peasants into the service and hire some foreigners as well.

Both come in rather large quantities.

Two nearby city mayors have been known for disliking each other but now the mayor of Tanan has hired mercenaries to attack the estate of Mayor of Karn!

Or so the Mayor of Karn says when he arrives in your throne room for audience, as your soldiers found little evidence of estate being ransacked or anything.

A) Mayor of Karn is lying! Fine him heavily for spreading lies.
B) Mayor of Tanan is behind this! Fine him heavily for assault.
C) Set up a meeting between the two Mayors with you as a mediator.

9818
You decide to call the spear 'Ancient Terror' and use it in combat!

963 AD, End of the Year

After you finish a mug of beer on a lazy afternoon, the Advisor arrives with Scrolls of Kingdom Status in his hands.

"As you can see, my liege, we have managed to procure quite a lot of wealth, mostly from selling of ancient burial items. The Army has suffered a bit, unfortunately, in the last stages of war against the Eist. Is there something you want to do about it?"

A) "Sure, hire me some mercenaries from the southern city-states or maybe even Kashite!"
B) "Draft the peasants and hire mercenaries, at once!"
C) "No, I'm sure we can carry on like this for a while longer."
D) "Simple, we shall draft some of the lazier peasants into the Army!"

You order the barrow opened and plundered.

No curse befalls your people and hefty amount of wealth is procured! Copper and silver jewellery inlaid with glass and ornamental gemstones, leather harnesses and belts and boots, preserved with some embalming oils, plus lots upon lots of ancient coins, crafts made of copper, bronze, brass and tin, valuable barter goods and even several decorated metal figurines!

The best items are several bracelets, headdress and shield, all inlaid with gold sheets upon bronze matrices of finest make. The Treasurer cannot wait to estimate the wealth of the burial goods and the amount of money he will get from selling them.

The last item is taken from the skeletal remains of the person in the shallow burial pit; it is a spear made of metal, which your metalsmiths and scholars determine to be some alloy of iron. Despite laying in dirt for ages, it shows no sign of rust and after some cleaning and polishing it shines even better than finest steel.

A perfect weapon for a person of your status!

"Mayhaps we should name it, my liege?" The Advisor asks as you look the spear and appraising the fine geometric etchings along the shaft.

A) Shinespear
B) Glamorous Lance
C) Polished Murder
D) Ancient Terror
E) Dukeguard
F) ...Why bother naming it? Sell it instead for extra cash for our Treasury!

9821
"We should be going, then. The more time we spend here, the lesser are chances to get Tomik out in one piece."

9822
You decide to not take revenge upon Kiwis.

Your dear wife gives birth to another healthy child! You have another son whom she calls 'Eidach'.

963 AD, Mid-Autumn

A caravan from Dahnia arrives! The envoy accompanying the wagons laden with trinkets and coinage says it is a reward from King Tinwulf II for your hard work and loyalty during the conflict with the Eist.

Yearly reports of the trade with Calvendocians is in and the Treasurer praises the deal; your people again acquired loads upon loads of exotic spices, fine fabrics and lovely crafts, while the taxation and cuts for the Crown provided a nice profit.

963 AD, Midwinter

A curious and surprising discovery was made in one of the southernmost cities, or rather its graveyard site!

The caretakers, while cleaning up and refurbishing an old section of catacombs, have stumbled upon an ancient barrow adjacent to the utnnels. The runestones embedded in the walls are so old that they do not bear Luathbas script but much older pictograms that only the most eccentric of scholars can identify.

They were used by the peoples who hunted elk and boars in once huge forests of Luathbas, and these peoples of old were first to melt down golddust from rivers and copper ores from the hills in these parts. The amount of runestones suggests that an important individual was interred there.

The local Pantheonists are however very concerned as all the omens they see bear markings of death and terror about this burial site.

The city mayor had the caretakers secure the catacombs and put a guard detail about it and then asked you what to do about the site.

A) Superstisions can be put aside; let's plunder the ancient riches from the tomb!
B) Purify the tomb and then re-seal it.
C) The barrow is to be buried with dirt and peoples resettled, just in case.

9823
You forget which refusal it is this day? Fifth?

The diplomat leaves unhappy.

You wait for a moment before calling for the gate guard.

"Are they gone?"

"Yessir."

You quickly run off to get drunk and relax after this torrent of talking.

964 AD, Summer

Good news! King Tinwulf II has have made peace with the Eist.

There will be freedom of travel for both Singularists and Pantheonists between Tven, Dahnia and Eist, and no longer will Eist Kingdom be able to harass any travelers upon your land (doing so will be a valid ground to request monetary compensation).

Your forces were sent back home much like Dahnian soldiers who have left for home as well.

King Tinwulf II have decided to incorporate the two conquered cities into your territory, so expedidentures, taxes and maintenace of garrisons will be now burden of your budget and administration. Furthermore, Kingdom of Eist will pay annual tribute to Dahnian Throne for next five years.

963 AD, Midsummer

The Spymaster happens by your quarters as you read a history book.

"My liege, my agents have concluded a detailed investigation into the quicksilver poisoning of your wife."

"And?"

"They've determined that the quicksilver used to poison the Queen was mixed in with some brimstone, clearly an impurity. They've managed to find the merchant dealing in cinnabar and its products, and he had shipments of ore mixed with brimstone. Further questioning of the individual have pointed his source of cinnabar to be the mines in the far west of the Kiwi Kingdom, directly owned by the Kiwi royal family, and in those mines they also procure other ores, like brimstone."

"So it is the Kiwis who are behind this!"

"Possibly. My agents unfortunately failed to find out who ordered the shipment of quicksilver to be mixed with Queen Stela's food, though. We've only determined that it was no one from inside the palace, and the questioning of palace staff was very thorough."

A) "Well, we're a bit too short of having concrete evidence. I will keep your report in mind."
B) "Send someone for the Marshal! It is time to repay the Kiwis for targeting my family!"

9824
The representative of whatever a Luthian Alliance is is brought in.

"Greetings, Duke of Tven!" The man is wearing rather plain clothing. "I speak on behalf of Luthian Alliance."

"And what would that be, exactly?"

"We grew tired of being pushovers and having our lands raided by the Kiwi and Ceodwell and the Lametanians, so cities in the south of your Duchy have banded together! We know that you had military successes against the Eist and therefore we wish to hire your soldiers. The Alliance is willing to pay a hefty price every year."

A) "Sorry, but I need my soldiers to defend Tven and not my neighbours."
B) "That sounds reasonable. I will recall and send my soldiers to your 'Alliance' soon."

9825
"Thank you!" Laura then moved a step closer and...

*cheeksmek*

"You're the best, Albert."
