You decide to march to the closest of cities - Tiann.

Five days later, the siege begins.

962 AD, Midsummer

It doesn't take more than half a month to trouble within the city to begin. Your men and you see a smoke smoldering in few parts, and the next morning an envoy of the city council arrives under escort of your Spymaster's agents. As you sit down with him to talk, you know that your first offer will be:

A) Demand that the city unconditionally surrenders.
B) Demand that the envoy leaves, as you have a slight thirst for destruction that needs to be quenched.
C) Demand that the city gets rid of Eist garrison and starts paying tribute to you.
D) Demand that the city council gets rid of the Eist garrison, and then does not interfere with march of your Army - it will be spared.

You decide to go besiege and try to obtain some cities for yourself.

Few days later the scouts and officers compile a report; there are three city-states that were once independent and neither of them are particularily loyal to Eist, but their garrisons are strong and walls high. They're all within few days' march of each other and were once populous cities of Luathbas.

There is one another further southeas: the city of Tagar. It is a rich city with only a minor Eist presence, but going there would expose your rear and flanks to all three garrisons from the other cities mentioned. After a counsel with some of your veterans, you decide to...

A) Besiege the closest city and then try with the other ones nearby as well.
B) Besiege the city of Tagar that is far away, despite difficulties it might bring.
C) Change your plans and roam the countryside, causing mayhem and engaging any hostile forces.

You do what you were made to do.

You go for a WAR!

Congratulations! Grand Duke Estwalf embarks on joint military campaign with King Tinwulf II of Dahnia!

The Advisor and Estwalf's wife will take care of politics in the meanwhile.

You arrive at the border between Eist and the Duchy a week later. A thousand of Dahnian foot and half that of horsemen arrive, led by an envoy. This brings the total numbers of the Army under your command to slightly over 4500.

The envoy explains that your orders are to keep the Eist southern garrisons busy, as there's lots of the zealots in the lands they conquered in recent years. Whether you keep'em busy by laying siege to the cities or by waging skirmish after skirmish on the open field, it is up to you.

A) What we're waiting for then? Time to snatch some city-states for ourselves!
B) Let's just make a ruckus at the border and glare ominously at the Eistians, they might get too scared to move.
C) We will march right into the occupied territories and challenge any and all Eist units who get in our way!

The Treasury gains some, the dungeon cells lose one. A good trade, that.

962 AD, Summer

A war trumpet of Dahnia greets you one morning. The envoy of King Tinwulf II arrives wearing chainmail and the banner of his master.

"Greetings, Grand Duke of Tven, Estwalf, choosen by the Council!" He greets you hurriedly in the audience room. "Our beloved lord and master, King Tinwulf II, has grown tired of the Eist raiding of your borderlands, especially when in one such raid his cousin was wounded. He therefore calls to arms his subjects, to beat the zealots of Eist back to their homelands. King Tinwulf requests as many footsoldiers and cavalry as you can provide."

"You could also lead the men yourself, my liege." Says the advisor, leaning towards you. "That would boost your prestige and the morale of your men, too."

As for the matter of support...

A) We can spare only few soldiers, unfortunately.
B) Time to send our Army to conquer Eist. Onwards!
C) Soldiers we cannot give, but how about some war supplies?

As for your presence in the war...

A) TIME FOR FAME AND GLORY!
B) Imma stay at the palace, yo.

//If you pick C as first choice, do not choose anything from second list.

9893
go to r-20 and Pilum one of the enemies?

You write a letter with demands for monetary compensation for the raids and the ransom for the nobleman.

962 AD, Mid-Spring

The reply quickly arrives; a wagonload of money is brought to you under escort of a hundred of Eist soldiers led by an envoy.

"This is the money you requested. Now let our pious companion go."

A) Accept the money, and then tell the envoy to go back and bring ransom money as well!
B) Accept the money and let the courtier go.
C) Refuse the money, saying that you demand much more than a wagon of trinkets.

You decide to spend more money to pacify the angry hordes.

962 AD, Spring

A report comes from the eastern borders; a group of twenty-six Eist raiders were captured, and amongst them there was a high-ranking Pantheonist priest! This implicates the King itself and his court behind this, as most of the Eist courtiers are also members of the clergy.

A) A-ha! A fine pretext for war! Rally the soldiers, we've got some fighting to do!
B) We shall release the clergyman and let him go with a letter of warning to Eist king.
C) They're only making fools of themselves - time to present this evidence to our good King Tinwulf.
D) How about we ransom the courtier and make demands to King of Eist?

9897
You decide to spend the Crown's money to provide for your people.

Alas, both the procurement and distribution of goods went terrible; and large parts of the foodstuffs ended in private pockets even if the accounting ledgers say otherwise! People openly complain and grumble about your (mis)rule!

During a particularily snowy evening, the Advisor arrives in your study and presents to you the Scrolls of Kingdom Status.

Happiness: 1
Population: 4
Economy: 3
Army: 3

"My liege, the people's moods have sunk to dangerously low levels what with the food shortages and the scandal surrounding the distribution of the grain. Should we spend money on festivities next year as well?"

A) Doesn't look like we have any other choice.
B) Nah, they had their festivals, now it's time for them to obey or else!

Take Ketsuki's old spot I guess

9899
No counter-raids for you.

961 AD, Mid-Autumn

Your wife gives birth to a girl! She names her 'Tisa'.

961 AD, Winter

The winter has begun early with thick layers of snow delivered by long and harsh blizzards. Many parts of the Duchy are paralyzed as roads are covered and people cannot even get to the market to buy food. Supply shortage is present everywhere. You decide to...

A) Buy foodstuffs and firewood from independent merchants with money from the Treasury so your people have to suffer less.
B) Lament publicly about the fate of your subjects but don't do anything else.
