Ethan nods to Angelica.

"Lysander can cut my palm with a knife, then. No need for me to bleed out just for science." He pauses, then turns to Gawen.

"Do you want some separate droplets onto your armor, Gawen, just in case?"

992
"...I was more thinking around the lines of cutting my palm and smearing the blood onto someone. Or the crown. Maybe it could self-activate through bloodstain, you know?"

Team Shield: Yes, sir!

Maia Sanders: In a moment I will see you to your Quarters. You have been assigned in pairs, one of each Team per Quarters, and unfortunately we had to settle on mixed pairing for Mister Natsugawa and Miss Langrisser in Quarters B.

The two teens in question shoot each other a stare.

Ichirou Natsugawa: I'm not going to complain, as long as I get some sleep...

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: I am fine with this arrangement, too. I don't take much space myself, anyway.

Maia Sanders: I'm glad to hear that. Is there anything any of you wish to ask? After you depart for your quarters we ourselves will return to other work.

There's a murmur amongst both groups, before Ostfalk coughs.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: I would like to ask where is our top officer. I thought we would get to meet the person in charge of the Corps?

Maia Sanders: Unfortunately, Commander Greene is currently very busy. I am sure that you will have a chance to meet him soon.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: Hrrmph.

Sota Tamayashi: Don't grumble, Johann. The Commander must have plenty of work on his hands.

Arthur Lovelace: I would bet on that myself, too!

Maia Sanders: Thank you for understanding. Please take your luggage and follow me!

The eight freshly-minted Pilots grab their things and follow Chief Secretary.

8th Late Winter 1001
Later that day

SOCIAL INCIDENT: Post-Haunting

Maia Sanders: I have received a call from our Small Hospital chief of medical staff. Ichirou Natsugawa has been checked for Trauma after the unfortunate horror watch night at Integration Camp and will require 7 days of Counselling. He has been already checked-in by the psychologist.

(Ichirou Natsugawa is undergoing Therapy at Small Hospital until 15th Late Winter 1001!)

Maia Sanders: I have inquired with Mister Palaikos and Miss Fontainblanc about the horror movies they've shown others that day and it seems those weren't anything light. Although others were able to stomach the content, I think it would be wise to consider whether such shows should be viewed by our teenage pilots whilst they're at Base Site.

Commander Greene and Subcommanders:
A) Forbid horror movie screenings at Base Site?
B) Let the teens pursue their movie interests?

"Fascinating." He steps closer to Gawen, helps her up and takes the crown back.

"I wonder if its my blood doing that or what..."

995
Ethan thinks briefly.

"...why not, won't hurt trying."

And he puts the crown on Gawen.

996
Ethan takes the crown off.

"Eugh, I hate this. Imagine not having solid floor under your feet!"

He scrunches his nose and then looks around.

"Well, the other two ships are gone... we might as well continue our journey."

Team Sword: Yes, sir!

Maia Sanders: Now it is time for Team Shield to greet their commander. Sota Tamayashi, Josephine Fontainblanc, Eva Langrisser and Johann Ostfalk, please step forward.

The four other teenagers step forward. The tallest of them leans gently to the others.

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: Just like I taught you, team.

The other three look at their brown-haired companion, and then, in very good synchronization, snap to attention and salute properly.

Team Shield: Team Shield greets their Subcommander!

Sota Tamayashi: I'm glad to be part of the Team, Subcommander. I hope we will be able to work together smoothly.

Josephine Fontainblanc: Subcommander, please disregard my family connections! I will strive to do my best in face of the grotesque monsters~!

Eva Wilhelmina Langrisser: Heil, Subcommander! I'm honored to be part of the team!

Johann Eduard Ostfalk: I'm ready for duty, Subcommander!

Subcommander Kali Scarlet can now greet his subordinates!

Maia Sanders: Very well. I shall accompany Subcommanders Shiek and Scarlet to the Mecha Bay to greet the pilots.

8th Late Winter 1001
Ten minutes later

The eight teenagers with their bags at their feet salute the Subcommanders and Chief Secretary.

Maia Sanders: Greetings, pilots. I'm Chief Secretary of SMC Staff, Maia Sanders. Your assignment in Starlight Mechanized Corps begins today. With me are Subcommander Shiek of Team Sword, and Subcommander Scarlet of Team Shield. I would like Team Sword - that's it, Thedros Palaikos, Arthur Lovelace, Ichirou Natsugawa and Carla Whiteforest - to step forward and greet their Subcommander.

A quartet of teenagers steps forward. Of particular note are the tall red-haired boy and the one right next him over a head shorter, with tired-looking eyes. The red-head salutes.

Arthur Lovelace: Team Sword greets their Subcommander with a salutation!

The other three quickly salute as well - one with their hand at wrong angle, and other with their feet apart. It is obvious they didn't so much saluting before.

Neither did Lovelace himself as he seems to be saluting to his ear, rather than forehead.

Thedros Palaikos: Greetings Subcommander Shiek! I'm ready to see those terata eye-to-eye!

Ichirou Natsugawa: Konichiwa Subcommander Shiek. This won't take long, yes? I haven't slept since--

Carla Whiteforest: Salutations, Subcommander! I see we have 995s in the bay, but, suredly, our prestigious unit is going to have something better than that soon, right? Right??

Subcommander K.Shiek can now greet his subordinates!

999
Ethan puts on the crown.

"So, how's this thing supposed to work again?"

Maia Sanders: Very well, I shall pass these arrangements to the rest of the staff.

The holo-comms machine on the desk starts beeping. Sanders pushes a button and a holo-projection appears in the room. A young man in the holo-projection salutes.

Officer: Commander Greene, Miss Sanders, Subcommanders, the unmanned carrier bus with our Pilots onboard has just stopped at our Base Site. The kids have already started removing their luggage from the bus and seem to be expecting their superior to greet them. Should I assemble the Teams in the Mecha Bay perhaps for an introductory briefing?

Commander Greene and Subcommanders:
A) Greet the teams?
B) Don't greet the teams?

"Yours is a merchantship. Are you selling anything, Veran-Bok?"

"Indeed I possess the ship of the traders. And indeed I trade the items of our craftsmen, for their handiwork in regards of crystals and glass is held in high regard. Else I can offer other crafts of my people as well as equipment for other spacefaring vessels. May you be interested in my wares?"

A) "Heck yeah, show me your cargo manifest!" (this will open trading with Veran-Bok)
B) "I will pass on that offer, and I'm actually interested about... (pick a conversational topic from previous post)

With a nod, your pour the Vahin'Ti a shot of Equator, a rather murky white-ish synthol. Veran-Bok looks down at the glass, and then pulls a small credchip from the insides of his spacesuit, letting you scan it. (+20c)

Further information about this Vahin'Ti citizen is unavailable to any civilian entity within New Galactic Federation in accordance with the Second Treaty of Balimat (1231USY). For more detailed inquiries related to personal information of this Vahin'Ti refer to the New Galactic Federal Xeno-Relations Bureau or the nearest Vahin'Ti Diplomatic Office.

Suddenly, the bartending console lists an alert.

Quote
SRC Xeno-Relations Bureau Warning: Several Synthols served by Synthetic Refueling Conglomerate, namely: Ribesnero, Cherrybomb, Wet Jet, Dry Jet, Bricklayer, InPulsar and Pontifex, are highly toxic to the organic structure of Vahin'Ti species owing to the chemical composition of these Synthols. All Bartenders in all Outposts are therefore warned to NOT serve the Vahin'Ti any of the listed Synthols or any Drink Mixes containing any of the listed Synthols to prevent accidental toxic shock or damage to Vahin'Ti internal organs. Any Vahin'Ti attempting to purchase any of listed Synthols or Drink mixes containing any of the listed Synthols MUST be warned by the Bartender or any other Staff at hand about toxic properties of these Synthols versus their fungal bodies. Negligence to do so will incur severe disciplinary actions against the Bartender and any other Staff present, up to and including termination of the employment contract.

The Vahin'Ti lifts the glass and then opens his mouth - a strange, tentacle like proboscis about two feet long slides out of the cross opening and tucks its ending into the shot glass, and what follows is the strangest drinking sound ever. Despite its elongated shape and thin width, the Vahin'Ti proboscis managed to empty the inside the glass from liquid in just two seconds!

"Nah, man, this b'weird." Morales says as Veran-Bok slurps his tongue back into his mouth.

"Vahin'Ti tongue is hollow inside and quite flexible and prehensile. According to human medical studies, Vahin'Ti tongues are one of the most powerful muscles in their bodies, second only to several components of their digestive tracts and their hearts." Vicky chimes in with maybe-helpful information.

"Ah, a synthetic learned in our biology. Rarity amongst outsiders." Veran-Bok replies with a polite nod of his large head.

A) "So, how was the synthol?"
B) "I have never seen or heard about Vahin'Ti, where do you come from?"
C) CHATTY: "The ID system says your name is Veran, and rank is Bok, while you mentioned the smaller one being a Mo and those three behind Ko's, how does that work? Is your society a stratified one?"
D) FLIRTY: "Oh, my, I have been graced with an actual, alien visitor. Mayhaps you would be interested in pursuing some closer inter-species relations with your humble Bartender~?"
E) "Yours is a merchantship. Are you selling anything, Veran-Bok?"
