« on: August 10, 2006, 03:21:00 am »
Ok, so how do you heal yourself here? I'm not yet in a position where i need to know yet (as that would involve getting ingured without dieing). But if i am lucky I just might escape from this Ettin me and some hammermen are taking on(Me? Oh I'm unared competent wrestler with a rock    :p  Fight him, hopfuly they will win but... I come first.

Ok so that was a question and a story, can't help it gotta share these things!

So incase the question was lost in all that it is: How do you heal in adventure mode? lots of sleep?

DF General Discussion / Trading in adventure mode(bug)
« on: August 10, 2006, 02:52:00 am »
I have started a new guy, and I went to the forest and slept, my allies fought of some guys while i did that and i picked up the equipment left behind. Back in town I tryed to trade for a better sword, eventually he accepted the trade. So I go to use my new weapon and... Its not there! its nowhere, trader doesn't have it i don't have it, it's not on the ground either and he has the stuff i traded him.
So happen to anyone else?

DF General Discussion / Stairs?
« on: August 10, 2006, 12:56:00 am »
Ok, so in adventure mode.
1. Are there stairs? I ask because I see things that look like stairs from nethack, and in a town I walked on somthing in the mayor place and I went to a differnt area in the building (thats the way it looks anyway)
2. If there are stairs. what exactly do they look like, and how do I use them?

Whoops! Man Comparing them to nethack just now made me think to try using the same controlls...    :o
"<" and ">".   :D

DF General Discussion / Drunks
« on: August 09, 2006, 03:52:00 pm »
I have just started adventuring after a bear killed of most eveyone in my fortress (well to be fair the raccoons helped it out a bit)

So anyway, I have started with a human Swordsman named Uzu Ormamater "Uzu Martyredpaints" and decided I would start up an adventuring groupe using the local town drunks.
Now I'm off on a quest to kill some pike guy (He with probly kick my ass) One drunk ran off after a skeleton so I think Ok he is so dead... wrong the Drunk charges the skeleton knocking him over and proceeds to puch the living(dead?) crap out of it. He finnaly finishes him off with a puch to the lower body causeing it to "fly of in an arc".      :)

DF General Discussion / How Skills Work?
« on: August 15, 2006, 03:09:00 am »
Ok, so I have some qestions about how exactly skills improve your performance in differnt areas.

1. Weapon skills.
A. Does it increase the damage you deal? How likely you are to hit a vital part of an opponents body? How often you get a counterstrike after a missed or blocked opponents attack?

2. Shield skill.
I take it that it probobly makes you better at blocking shots, but does it help you when you try to hit someone with your shield?

3. Armor skill.
Does it make your armor more likly to stop attacks? Does it encumber you less? What increses it?

4. Wrestling skill.
Does it help you doge attacks? Does it help you counterstrike? How does it affect your actual wrestling?

5. Ambushing skill.
Um. yeah, what does it do? the only thing I can think of is that somtimes people attack others from the side or from behind, is that what it does? and if so, how much does that help your attacks?

6. Fortress skills. (Crafting and non weapon professions)
I assume that they help your dwarfs make things faster and make things better? But I have to ask anyways.

7. Toughness and Agility.
Not really skills as such but they are on the same screen and seem to affect you in some way. So what does toughness and agility affect? (Both in adventure mode and fortress mode).

Well thats all the qestions I can think of about skills for now, but if I think of anymore I wont hessitate to ask.
   :)

Keep up the good work Toady!

DF General Discussion / Trapping
« on: August 17, 2006, 06:51:00 pm »
How does trapping things work? I havn't tried it yet, so what do you need? and do you need differnt kinds of traps for bigger creatures? and how do you train captured animals? or is it tame them? is there a difference to training and tameing? and lastly can all, or only some anamals that can be traped and tamed\trained? (I kind of like the idea of having a war dragon... probly hard to get if possible... but would be very fun to see those pathetic lizardmen deal with that when they come out the well!)

Think that about covers it. Thanks in advance (if you help out anyways, if you don't no dwarf cookies made from wine for you!    :p  )

DF General Discussion / Legends Questions
« on: August 17, 2006, 02:53:00 pm »
When looking at events like who got killed by what in the regions section I saw one event that was differnt from the others. It says in a time before time Maga Lustdoom was encased in adamantine below(or in, or somthing of that nature) The Mystical Spikes of confederating(The rather mountonus region whose ledgends I was looking at).

So I think "Hey thats kind of cool, I wonder why that person had that happen to them?" I go on to look at my historic figures section now to reveiw the names of my hapless drunks killed by skeletons (yet agian). Then I see an entre from Maga Lustdoom, I think "excellent mabye I can find out what this person did to deserve being encased". sure enough I find out, in the first line it says "Maga Lustdoom was a demon". Aha! It makes perfect sense! who else but a demon would be encased in somthing in a time before time?
So now on to the question (yes i do like to have a story go along with almost anything I post, even a question.   :)  ). (and I out smilies in brackets to,   :D  ).

Oh and btw I think it was a random peasant who told me this in one of my adventure games(somtimes I just ask about surrounding a whole lot so that I can hear about somthing new and I guess I just missed this one in game.)

Ok.

So I am wondering is this type of thing put in just to give your world some background history and ledgends? or is it possible to actually seek out the demons from a "time before time"? or will it be at some point?

Another question.
Can you find big creatures like dragons in adventure mode? or even find demons that arn't the ones from myths?

And lastly, has anyone else uncovered events like this while playing? Things in the ledgends screen that are differnt from art, foundings, who killed who and such?
