He must be a legendary liar!  He's got the whole dwarf civilization hoodwinked.

Note his surname, "Sicknesslie". He must've started out as a Dabbling Liar by getting days off work.

EDIT: Also. I keep getting hit by two or three goblin ambushes at once. I've had to savescum repeatedly, order all my dwarves inside, etc. Fortunately, my champion wrestler/axedwarf/marksdwarf can fend them off easily, but now I can't finish construction on my outside corridor of death for fear I'll get ambushed and lose a dwarf. How do I deal with this?

Easiest way would probably be to turn invasions off in the init until you're ready for them.

For a second I was expecting a kobold Bookkeeper.

I have my champion wielding a crossbow and off duty, and my barracks has plenty of archery targets and ammunition. I've also designated the room as an archery practice thing. But he's not practicing - what could be causing this?

• Make sure the ammunition isn't all metal - they'll only use wood or bone bolts for practice.
• See if he's holding anything in his hands besides the crossbow. If he is, dump it.
• Check that the archery range is set up for firing in the correct direction.

It's usually one of those three things that's the problem.

lol. So now, when dwarves sometimes flee in terror from a named enemy, they'd also drop loads and wet their pants?

Could be helpful, if it (and blood, vomit, etc.) was actually slippery...

I'm trying to find the best way to get the artifacts on a dumping platform so I can dump them into a special vault I have made.   As others have said it's really hard to find all my guys.  However it would be very easy to make a special hold for them.  If only I can separate my artifacts from my common items.

Stockpile settings. Make a custom stockpile for furniture+goods+weapons+armour+whatever else artifacts can be, set to only accept artifact-quality.

Come to think of it, I've heard DF compared to the Matrix; an absurdly detailed virtual world, but to the untrained eye it just looks like a bunch of random symbols.
