Hm, if only I could get my green glass fort to work out for me, then I'd build a huge one -w-

Ah, we can dream~

DF Suggestions / Re: New item flag: "Reserved for Strange Moods"

I think protecting objects specifically just for moods would be good. But, I'm liking the idea that moody dwarves will still grab whatever, just that it will prevent everyone ELSE from grabbing it.

Oh, and I forgot to mention that that same human caravan I also marked everyone's underwear for dumping. Ironically, the first dwarf to go get it was nicknamed 'That's what she said'.

Whenever traders get pissy at me for not accepting their dumb trades, I pull the lever in my meeting hall, which locks the only way in and out of the fortress. I then steal their underwear and whatever item I was trying to get from them (the last time it was an anvil that they wanted for a bunch of narrow GCS clothing, a bunch more than I wanted to give).

It might've been the orcs in the horizon using some mindcontrol? ::)

SECTOIDS

GET BACK TO THE SKYRANGER

If you understood that, then you'll understand why I say it is best not to give Toady ideas. Please, please do not make him implement mindflayers. That would suck. Literally and figuratively.

SHIT WE'RE ALL DEAD.

Ah, I had a fun couple of caravan stories.

I had heard that wagons could run creatures over, but I had never seen it, till just recently. A kobold thief, running forward to steal some goodie from my trade depot was promptly rolled over by the human caravan that was just leaving. Both wagons crushed the little guy to death.

On that same fort, my Outpost Liaison, on the first time he had ever come to me, found the GCS roaming outside, sent it out of ambush and then got thrown by it INTO THE NEARBY MAGMA PIPE. It was awesome. I watched the whole thing.

...Is that a road of vomit?

Yes, it definitely looks like it. Could we somehow exploit this to make patterns with vomit?

How about this idea? Around your microcline bridge, build massive towers, with bridges leading between towers at varying heights. At the bottom is a really slummy run down area for your migrants and peasants, around the middle is where all your marketplaces and crafts go on, and at the top would be the shining noble quarters, complete with clear/crystal glass windows for them to stare down on everything.

Bonus points if all the levels can be locked down separately by levers in the noble quarters. Even more bonus if there are 'purge' levers that spike everyone, everywhere. SPIKE TRAP EVERYWHERE!

The water in your picture is cute.

I wholeheartedly agree. Adorablewater FTW.

unless your adventurer's willing to stand and pull a lever, pressure plates are the only option.

WE NEED A EXPERIMENT:
test if pressure plates work in adv. mode! You will have to enable traps in the init.txt. Some say this works, some say they don't work even then. I have never tried myself. WE NEED SCIENCE!

I've heard you get an error message and then DF crashes. I've also heard that it just plain glitches up. Either way, you should still test it for SCIENCE!

Babies and Children default to a dark red color in ASCII, and they're normally very easy to distinguish from adults.

Except for macemen, which leads to a lot of fun during town-massacres.
"Oh, it's just a child, pay it no mind WHY IS IT BASHING ME WITH A MACE OH ARMOK"

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Your best engravings
« on: November 18, 2009, 02:28:25 am »
I had an engraving of my leader getting rejected the role of Broker (I had already, pre-embark, given another dwarf all the necessary skills, so I changed it). It was funnier because it was masterfully engraved in his room.

By the broker.

Started work on my sea'o'cage-traps plan. In effect, I plan to flood every unused tile in my entire fortress with a cage-trap. Invader tries to enter? Cage trap. Dwarf goes berzerk? Cage trap. Clowns knocked out by military? Cage trap.

Also tied into this plan is my invader-zoo. I currently have three pikegoblins, a hammergoblin and a goblin wrestler in my zoo.

I planned to build an underwater fortress out of glass (but, who hasn't?) but then I got bored when I couldn't figure out how to get it under the ocean (I know now, sorta). Oh, and then there was the time I planned to turn a human town into a full-on fortress, but I got bored after a few minutes when I found the aquifer.

I think a better question is "Is the mod-maker missing?"

EDIT: Forget that last part. It was never a part of the plan. Oh, well.

I doubt I have the time or the willpower to make the rest of them =w="
