How do I make them dump only part of their load into a stockpile? Or must I designate new routes for each stop using distinct carts?

I don't want to cart up levels or bother with powered pumpstacks. I don't have that much iron. I will play with carts. Will a pushed cart make it down into a magma channel and out the other side?

Can you split a route that makes the dorfs pick up the magma cart and put it on other tracks for dumping? Otherwise how do you make them move the cart to the surface?

So do you have to trick the magma into a magma safe minecart or use a pump? Then assign the full minecart to a route and have it dump somewhere?

I want to use magma from the sea to fuel my smelting and forges. Is there a step by step guide to either:
Hauling magma by bucket
Hauling magma by minecart
 
I don’t want to build pump stacks, magma pistons or long ‘z’ minecart tracks.

Regarding minecarts, is it possible to set up a single track that traverses multiple Z (from the surface down, say, five levels), which dumps specific goods at each level? I want to have the surface stockpile load up on surface goods (logs, meat, cookable goods and brewable fruits and plants), and distribute them to workshops. Can this be accomplished with a single track, or do I need one stop for each track on the surface? How would I then designate the stops so they don’t just dump everything at the first stop?

Fallout: Tactics (barely related to the Fallout universe but doesn't have the god-awful TBS of the first two, instead going for pseudo-realtime)
Baldur's Gate (and any other Infinity Engine games, pseudo-realtime)
Arcanum of Steamworks and Magick Obscura

I've played these. I am after more tactics, less RPG. The UFO clones are ok, UFO AI, etc.
I guess I've been playing Dead State alpha which crashes when returning to home base. I want to play something similar in the meantime.

Games like,
Ja and Ja2, and the new one
Silent Storm
UFO and Afterlight, etc
Dead state beta
Shadowrun returns

I'm looking for something new, can you recommend any to try?

Then what would be the point of the competition if not to give us an opportunity to seek some truths? We could ask if magical items we know to be entombed are still there, for instance. If the point is just to survive to 20 rounds without asking the wrong sort of question if seems like a lost opportunity.
