works pretty well, im actually playing that, got a bottomless pit, a chasm, a magma pipe, a brook, and an underground river i havent found yet  :P
runs at about 30 FPS with a population of about 20 right now, but stops from time to time (like every 1-7 seconds) for a moment. it takes about a second for the building material selection to show up when creating a new building. rest is fine here @ core 2 duo with 2.0 Ghz and 2 GB RAM left by vista  :D

EDIT: you might get problems with the resources as well... my sand source is that far away, most dwarves get something to drink, eat or some sleep before they can even start the work there... i think i should add a bed, a food and a booze stockpile there... hmmm....
the channel from the magma pipe took me a 3/4 year, too... with miners working round the clock

i read on the wiki that a cave-in will happen when an area of 7x7 tiles is unsupported. but in an older fortress i had mined out an area of like 120x120 tiles completely and it was like that for at least 3 DF years. the init.txt says cave-ins are enabled... now im wondering whether i should build supports for the working hall in my new fortress or if the cave-in feature is somehow bugged so that i dont have to it... anyone having a good hint?
