DF Modding / installing genesis mod?

do i just delete everything in my raw>objects folder and put everything that came with the genesis dl into it? theres no subfolders or anything in the genesis mod cept a bunch of text files.

i dont see the show embark pool/river/magma/etc on the init.txt for the new version

is there another way to get these to display?

DF Modding / looking for a few utilities which i lost

ive recently reformatted my computer and i lost all my dwarf fortress utilities and i cannot remember their names well most of them anyway

i used to use
1) dwarf companion
2) this utility that lets me quickly load up all my dwarves and assign their jobs
3) a utility that lets me convert mineral and stone tiles to another

i was wondering if anyone can tell me what utility number 2 and 3 are called?

i havnt played this game for a very very long time now, i cant even remember the version number that i played last but it was at least 6 months ago,

anyway this new release 0.31.02, is that the release of the version being described under the forum thread "future of the fortress" with things like burrows, where you assign a dwarf to a location and they dont leave it etc.

DF Gameplay Questions / question about starting area (npc towns)

if my starting area has a kobold cave (tunnels complete with stairs and etc filled with kobolds) do these kobolds do anything besides stand around?.  like would they make more kobold babies, attack me, etc or do they just sit in their cave and do nothing while their population stays the same until they eventually all die off one by one.

and does the above apply to goblin towns and w/e

if i changed [CHILD:12][BABY:1][MULTIPLE_LITTER_RARE] to

would that make the children grow up in one year instead of 12? also how about existing children will they grow up faster if i change it or will they be stuck as children forever.

i read somewhere that dwarves only tend to marry if they come from the same immigration wave. is this an absolute fact or will they still marry if they were from different waves.

what about the children dwarves when they grow up? will they marry or no. and if dwarf children do marry when they grow up would they only marry a dwarf that is not a sibling or would they marry within the family as well.

atm i only seem to have 2 married dwarves in my fortress and since i havnt had any immigration for like 10 years now even though im not a the population cap i just wanted to know if my dwarves wont eventually just die out..

is it normal to end a season without getting any new immigrants but at the same time not receive any kind of your fortress has attracted no migrants this season message?

i want to know cause i havnt got any new immigrants for like 5 years now
(yes ive been trading and all that with dwarves from the mountain home and humans and etc. im not at the population cap unless dead dwarves are included within it but ive turned invasions off so no dwarves have died since...however migration seems to have stopped as well since i turned this off) 
and i very very rarely see the migrants message show up at all in fact i havnt seen it for like 3 years and ive only seen it recently in the previous year and i havnt seen it at all in the current year im playing in again.  and its not like im overlooking the messages or anything cause ive been scouring the logs and found nothing

DF Gameplay Questions / merchants frequently get stuck

i dont know why but merchants frequently get stuck and go insane on my map.  I checked the path they take and its all green.  sometimes all the wagons will get into my Depot but one will go halfway in and stay there and not go all the way through and when they leave they will all go to the edge of the map and some of them will leave but the others will stay there and eventually go insane.  the ones that leave are the ones that stay in my trade depot and dont move at all until i unbuild it.

DF Gameplay Questions / dwarves not dumping stones for some reason

these stones are inside and my dwarves wont dump the stone i mark for dump now for some reason.

i have a designate garbage dump zone but they wont dump them unless i have a stone stock pile thats not filled up. 

no the dwarves arnt putting the stone in the stone stock pile they will only put the stone in the garbage dump zone only if i have a stone stock pile designated or they will all idle.

i dont remember having to do this earlier cause i never had to designate a stone pile until they stopped dumping my stone and i was trying to find ways to get them to start dumping again.  i must have changed some setting or something but im not sure what. nothing is forbidden of course just marked for dumping otherwise the dwarves wouldnt touch them at all.  im just wondering why i actually need to designate a stone stock pile and keep it empty all of a sudden otherwise my dwarves dump nothing in the garbage zone

is 40d or 40d14 the official version of the game?  i read that there were gona be burrows or w/e in future updates for the game in the dev blog but is that a feature for 40d , 40d14 or some future game release like 41d  or something i dont get it.  since 40d14 appears in the dev blog does that mean i should be playing 40d14 not 40d because 40d14 is the "real" new version of the game or what

theres an option on dwarf companion thats called show all i assume that that shows me all the creatures on the map but it doesnt do anything when i click on it. im using 40d and the .exe version of d companion

also i hear u can teleport dwarfs with dwarf companion how do u do that?

DF Gameplay Questions / liason not leaving

i have a dwarven liason thats not leaving my fortress. i think it has something to do with the fact that half of  the caravan got stuck on some terrain and then went berserk and got killed while the other half was stuck in halfway in the trade depot so i had to remove the trade depot which caused them to disappear or something.  will this affect my game in any way? or wil he leave the next time the caravan comes.

ive been trying to link a bridge to a pressure plate but its been like half an hour and its not linked yet is it supposed to take this long? i know the dwarf is working on it because i was watching it the whole time but yea..
