Creative Projects / Re: Platform Exploration Project > Demo G
« on: July 18, 2010, 02:50:15 am »
I'm been toiling away at improving the collision handling, object loading, physics, and other things.

I'll continue working on things in this test environment until I have most of the planned features working.
This is only a rudimentary demo of the physics, and has many flaws, but I am trying to improve it.

Here's the latest version:

Platform Explorer Demo H

So you are making a game to make a game?

I could never use some pre-written code for something so interesting as path-finding.
That is probably one of the most fun things to program.

I did copy/paste a bunch of the library handling code though.

This last project I'm working on is the first program where making the actual finished game
is more important to me than enjoying the programming aspects.

General Discussion / Re: What are your fears/phobias?
« on: July 15, 2010, 03:21:02 am »
I have a paranoia of dying, that seems like a few different phobias.
If I know I am safe, there is no fear, so it is can't be a phobia. Nonetheless, low guard rails get me very paranoid.

Insect get me nervous, because I don't know which ones can harm me or poison me.

I do still have a fear of the dark, but only sometimes. I proclaim to those close to me how I am at ease in the dark,
and regularly navigate my house with my eyes closed, comfortably stroll through dark hallways, that sort of thing.

I have been on a quest to find media that de-rationalizes me, or gives me these certain thoughts associated with unknowning.
If you're interested, THIS is the closest thing I can find. (Besides Lovecraft) (Bradbury and Steven King come really close though)

Thank you all for the tremendous food for thought. I will have an interesting sleep tonight. (sincere)

I ate some chocolate, hoping for strange dreams.

Did Sakuya flip out?

Was it worth it?

Would anyone besides me suddenly get the feeling that Andy frequents this forum and posts in this very thread?
On this very page?

General Discussion / Re: Lego just got hardcore
« on: July 14, 2010, 02:45:07 am »
The Lego Spielberg, Lego Mindstorms and Lego train sets all cost over $100 dollars when I first got my hands on them.
Most of the crazy awesome Lego sets are at the $80 mark, $50 gives you the pretty impressive stuff, the midrange sets are still pretty fun,
and have a few constructs per box, and for a few bucks you can buy the smallest vehicle/robot/whatever.
(3 of these are basically guaranteed to come with the matching $80 set)

Moo, I very much miss playing with my Lego bricks. This wooden chest beside me is full of them,
but I figure that if I started screwing around with them, I'd get the sudden urge to seek employment and grow up.

Creative Projects / Re: Retro does music

Thanks, Retro!

Once this newest project of mine gets off of its feet, it will have a huge scope.
I'd love to have some music like this, and to make some of my own as well.

The music is amazing!

I've only listened to a few so far, but they are all awesome.

How much would I have to pay to convince you to make some tracks for my next game?

That is quite fine.

I hope your project works out well.

Sorry, with four hours of sleep in me now, I will say that I deserve no such title as mighty.
Hmm... a request?
I have never made an art request before...

Someone here Photo-shopped a house to make it seem derelict and unwelcoming.
I think it might have been Josh.

Can you do something like that, but with a bit more graveyard and mausoleum?

Wrong thread?

I am liking Karkat more in every encounter.

What did he do that was so bad?
I can't remember.

Phantom is in one of his caring troll habits today.

It's best to agree with what he says and otherwise ignore him.

BTW:

My self esteem is through the roof lately, (not sarcastic)
 so expect some more smart-ass
 snarkly snarkly snarkly
forum posts until I become accustomed to these wonderful feelings.

It is 5 AM where I am, so sorry if I sound like an asshole.
