Persistent tactical campaign in ASCII. Split in three parts: deciding what do do outside battle(travel and such), choosing units, deployment locations and reqiment before battle and actually fighting.

Unit library:
@ Us. If we die, we lose. 3 lives.  7 attack 11 defense.
s Soldiers, basic grunt. 3/7
S Sergeants, tough melee dudes with shields they can use against archers. 3/8 (3/12 when shot at)
b Bowmen, ranged attack but sucks at melee. 4/6(2/6 when in melee)
m Mercs, will run if 50% casualties are taken. 5/6

Available units:
@ 1, this number isn't going to change much.
s 30, split in 5 squads(6 each)
S 10 split in 2 squads(5 each)
b 15 split in 3 squads(5 each)
m 20 split in 2 squads(10 each)

Available abilties:
Arcing Blow. Attacks 4 squares at the same time. Automatically used by us in melee.
Indirect Fire. Attacks anywhere on the battlefield with a one turn delay(requires leading targets). Used by bowmen.

Available equipment:
Lighter Armor. Reduces us to 7/10 but allows faster movement.

Known enemies:
The Undead
f Fallen. Slow undead shambler. 1/5
R Reaver. Very slow but has Arcing Blow. 7/8
N Necromancer. Can raise Fallen in some occasions, very long range. 2 lives, 3/11

The story so far:
After the attack on our home city, we fled into the wilderness and with all survivors we could find. We enlisted the aid of some mercenaries but were caught in the open by a marauder party while crossing a forest clearing.

Cyan is our deployment zone. Our goal is to reach the edge of the map. Killing the necromancer will reduce the amount of enemies that give chase later. The main enemy force is nearby and will join if we delay too long.

Hints:
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Battle will commence once we agree on what to deploy.

Garands being unreloadable is a myth too, you either push in half a clip instead of a full one or eject the previous one.

The "worst" rifle has to be one of the old muzzle loaders. Not  much more accurate then a musket while being heavier, clunkier and taking longer to reload while the archaic rifling was prone to cause jams and misfires and to top it off, it was very expensive.

For whenever SA is cooperating, there's also a pretty good one in progress about RTR.

What are ants for?

Approach the figure, see what happens, act accordingly and when we return to our fort we dig our a staircase in that little nook near the entrance and give us access to the top of our walls.

Does anybody know an imagehost that allows bulk uploads as well as a .tga converter that doesn't flip everything upside down? I don't plan on spending more time editing screenshots then i do playing the game.

I'm pretty much through with both vanilla games, hence i'm asking if anybody knows any good mods to play.

As the title says, I'm planning on making an LP based on a mod for either RTW or M2TW. Before starting, i was looking for some input on which mod to use.

The tech trees seem a bit redundant.  If they are perfectly balanced against eachother, t2 is immediately obsolete because it's the same result for more hassle compared to upgrading t1 crap. If building conventional units is more useful everybody will just practice their micro a for a few days against the "intelligent(something i am highly skeptical about)" AI and never look at the tech trees again.

I don't like the new art style at all. UEF units look like a pile of cardboard boxes, Aeon Order units are all spheres and cybran are a mix between them, boxes with rounded corners. The undead dinosaur cyborg is plain stupid. The maps are essentially still perfectly flat with impassable holes instead of mountains now.

Also, it seems as if they shortened the ranges on everything to standard RTS distance. A big part of the appeal of SC1 was shooting dots on the horizon.

FA, SS, DG and now SC2, everything GPG made since the original Supcom has been a disappointment and this looks no different. The fact that they keep switching publishers gives the idea that the industry has noticed this as well.

WoW is pretty awesome from level 1 to 30ish. After that, you will feel like you're paying to work.

You are talking about Age of Conan I think.  ;D
No, that would mean 1-20.
Unlike AoC, WoW also gets better again around lvl 45 wen you get past it's weak point.

I looked at the homepage of the wonderland website and decided that i already hate it. Half their advertising points are about all the landscapes available in the game. Which wouldn't be bad if Crytek decided to stop whining abour piracy and doing something different then abusing their SpeedTree license for all it's worth but this is a 2d game. If having a level designer is half the attraction of the game, it's not worth my time. In addition to that there's the copious amount of fanservice which reeks of a marketing trick.

What was the last time the net code for a stardock game failed spectacularly, rendering the game unplayable for everybody except hamachi pirates?

Picking it up and throwing it back or actually grabbing it out of the air? If it was the first, that is badass, if it was the second, that is AWESOME.

Back on topic: Are there plans for a demo and if yes, is it going to be more helpful then the demo of the fist game?

629
I tried to play the demo of the first one but the clunky controls(i have to stand still before I'm allowed to sprint?) and the "wtf am i supposed to do now" moments during what was supposed to be a tutorial of some sorts. Or was i supposed to have completed OFP before starting ArmA?

Now before somebody jumps into my face screaming "REALISM" at the top of their lungs, giving somebody a gun and dropping them in an unknown location with no information whatsoever and a squad that runs off at the first opportunity they get is NOT a recognized military tactic.

Steam is like a modern jetliner. When it does what it's supposed to do, it's awesome but when something breaks, you are fucked.
