DF General Discussion / Re: I have a mac and I want to play DF.

Some people don't have a choice I guess. Either they were suckered in by the whole "Easier to use" thing and now they can't afford a PC because they spent their money on a Mac, or maybe he's underaged and his parents are Mac fans.

Either way, I suggest learning the ASCII. It'll make you a better person.

Three years? That's it? Do you spend more time posting in the forums rather than actually playing?

I went from 30-50 on embark to 120-150 on embark.

On a 2x2.

lost possibilities. In the new fortress you will have to build all the infrastructure, all the organization, raise up military strength - redo everything to achieve the current state again and to be able to deal with appropriate challenges...

Reclaim.

I propose two arguments.

One, you claim that losing makes you feel like you've wasted a great deal of effort. However, you are playing a video game. So even when you win you've just wasted a great deal of time. There is no benefit to winning,  and you can always start again. So what is the negative of losing?

My second argument is that if you take losing too seriously, Dwarf Fortress is not your game.

I wonder how DemonicSpoon will handle his turn now that he is dead.

I don't understand what everyone's bithching about the farming anyways. Way way back in 2d this was considered a feature.

Go to entity_default in the raws.

Cut [CIV_CONTROLLABLE] from the dwarves and add it to the Humans.

Tested, and it works. I also cut/paste all the noble positions too though.

Just one thing:

''T'' to activate a squad. Took me long enough to figure it out.

I love you.

I've been doing it just fine. I only have 15 dwarves, but we have enough barrels and beds. However this thread may interest you.

I can farm trees now?! How long do they take to grow?

I wonder if this is intentional, and Kobolds and Goblins actually store the items they steal in worldgen.
