So, I'm thinking of doing this again with the new version, since it died out when I lost my supply of Pitchblende to run my Dwarven Nuclear Reactors. Any ideas on how to contain the new titans, and what other things I can have my scientists experiment on? Burrows can also help prevent security leaks.

I have a HUGE pile of remains stockpiled both inside and outside my fort. It's been a year since they were left there and none of them are disappearing. How can I get rid of them?

Having the traders bring the mumps for the 8th time and lay out half the dwarfs in the fortress and bring things to even more of a standstill just, ugh.

I got this sudden mental image of the traders bringing glass trinkets and blankets to trade to the long-established dwarves, and incidentally wiping them out with mumps, and colonising the vast tracts of fortress that open up...

Speaking of blankets, can beds consist of more than just a wood log now? Can we add mattresses and pillows and such?

the hammerman was hostile , maybe he hit someone in the civ or something

and that rage thing..... you killed someone who was their entity

No one else rushed to attack the guard and there were loads of soldiers nearby.

I know why I was being attacked, but even though I became an enemy of the entity I was able to retire in the town.

Might or might not be related, but once I was in a tavern near an unconcious hammerman (his foot was missing so the pain kept knocking him out). When I walked over to him for some reason I hit him with my crossbow even though he was in my civ and I didn't press A to attack him. He then woke up and I was forced to kill him. I fled to another human town and everyone there started trying to kill me. I killed about 10 people before pressing esc and seeing the retire option, even though everyone in the town was in a murderous rage. I retired and then reloaded my adventurer, and then everything was back to normal, except for one guard who yelled about the people he killed and proceeded to attack me. I kill him and yet no one seems to mind.

Blasphemy!

That's what magma is for!

If Toady ever decides to make it so that dwarves have to light their own fortresses, oil would be useful. Magma can't stay nice and hot forever.

Besides, I can think of many doomsday contraptions that uses both oil and magma.

I'm calling you out on this.

Name 7 of them.

Flood map with oil and then flood magma on top
Soak fortress with oil and then release fire imps from magma pipe
Orbital oil cannon combined with orbital magma cannon
Flooding map with water, then oil, THEN magma

Alright, fine, those are the only doomsday mechanisms I can really think of that involve both oil and magma, but I'm sure many are more creative than me. Besides, I'm sure there are all sorts of other cool stuff you could do with oil! Who wouldn't want to cover their lake and ponds with it and then use magma to create flaming lakes of doom?

I just had an idea.

Do you think oil deposits might eventually become a site feature, and dwarves could use the oil as fuel, or refine it into different products? Oil's been used for fuel and distilled for kerosene in the middle east since the 9th century, and I think ancient China might have even used natural gas.

This thread actually gave me an idea for the use of pitchblende. You can make perpetual motion machines, stockpile under the water with pitchblende, and pretend they're mini nuclear reactors.

Yeah, that's what I was planning to do. The power plant would have been at the center of my dwarven laboratory.

So far I have a magma cannon floating above my fort, I'm thinking of making it the yamato cannon of a gigantic Dorfen Battlecruiser.

As long as elves are dying/burning/withering and not smiling or winning it's a good thing.

I suppose so.

Also, my weaponsmith just made an artifact steel war hammer with an image of Cacame chugging ale inscribed into it. When the elves go to war with me this hammer will be given to my champion hammerdwarf, and it shall drink blood.

Waterwheels and power transmitters
Sniper towers spread out all across the map, connected by overhead pathways
Alternatively, bunkers connected by underground pathways
Drawbridges to seal off areas
Steel walls as barriers

I don't build aqueducts, water is supplied to my fort through underground pipes.
