Wesley stands at 1.8 Meters (5'10) tall. His chestnut hair is trimmed and parted in a low wave above a full brow.  His grey eyes behind a pair of half moon spectacles. He sports a mustache though it isn't as flamboyant as many men wear, and has a light beard, though most of the cheek is simply 5 o' clock shadow and he keeps his sideburns as such as well, his neck is shaved. His mother would describe him as handsome.  Other's "okay".  He is light of skin.

He is often seen wearing a button up shirt with a two piece vest, the front a rich maroon, the back a deep black.  The shirt is often white.  He wears a plain tie which he tucks under his vest, it is usually black.  He keeps a handkerchief and a pair of white cloth gloves in the vest's left breast pocket.  He wears a black belt, with a copper fastener.  His pants are always slacks and are usually dark earth tones.  He wears socks with his shoes, which are dress.  The socks are made by his mother, they are always argyle.  He also owns a heavy leather medical bag, and a fur-lined coat, which he rarely wears.

He tends to talk like this.

but for the moment he remains quiet.

It's like the one you just had but different.

6/10 because while it's fine I FEAR CHANGE IN ALL FORMS!

As the medic, I don't care about the load out.

Alright so I'm gonna do my first actual roll, not gonna talk to guards or nothing.  So it takes 1 season to produce gunpowder, how much do the materials cost, and how is gunpowder used when it comes to guns and cannons?  Do you simply need gunpowder to make a gun, then never need gunpowder again? or do you need gunpowder and guns, and gunpowder is used up every battle? or every volley? or .1 every volley?  same with cannons?

Its still 1d/barrel to produce

And gunpowder is treated more as a good than a usable item. It would be required for the training of ballistic units. Upkeep is normally the factor to determine 'constant need' - same applies to say archers and their requirements for replacement bowstring and arrows.

Alright, I have 2d, so no biggie.

~Days later~

Begin production of gunpowder.

A few releases ago I had a pretty nifty fortress going on, it had a waterfall fountain in the dining room, that would lead into a big pool I had dug out below it, to collect all the water, there were also 2 openings else were that over looked the pool, and were there just to look nice I guess, so I built a pumpstack that was powered by a waterwheel, this pumpstack would carry the water from the pool and expel it back into the river (ie brook) and the brook had a moat dug out that was used to feed the waterfall fountain (it had to go through another level which I built somewhat of a pipe with walls for, then it would simply cascade down the dining room level then fill the pool.

The only problem was, the way the river (ie brook) froze, was that it would freeze the water leading to the wheel, that would pump the water out, but leave the part that fueled the waterfall unfrozen for a few turns more, this would lead to seasonal minor flooding (about 1-2 units of water) that would not only flood the fountain in the dining room, but also the two extra pool areas, which were mostly just traffic areas leading from the living, eating, sleeping area, to the work area.  This wasn't really a threat to the adult dwarves, but pretty much any time someone had a baby, they would get washed away into the below level pool every winter.

Despite this it was one of my best fortresses, and lasted 4 years.

Pretty sure only engineers know how to make gunpowder, just saying, I could be wrong.

wow that took forever, yeah no sorry, I realized a fatal flaw in my system.  The flaw being I thought I could get away with not paying attention, but since I control population when the person runs out of influence, I couldn't keep track of all 9 player's lands of what's been used for what and what it hasn't been used for.  Too many players.  I suggest you blame Talvara and his sprites for that.

I can make a world builder easy.  But I couldn't figure out a way to use all that the world builder gives without making the game either way to complicated, or pointlessly simple.

other things I did wrong:
Didn't start you off with knowing what was in your surrounding lands. (poor poor evil)
Probably other things but I can't remember them all.

I think if I ever do this again, the most I could handle is 1 maybe 2 kingdoms, with the other kingdoms being run by other people, and me just kinda overlording the place.  But that would require it's own forum (to not prevent but at least diminish metagaming) and for me to finish the new world gen parameter's (I stopped after doing plants and before doing aquatic plants, but added climate, and seasons, and all that good stuff, but still have to do metals, animals, etc) then figure out a way to simplify production.  I was thinking you built a specific building say a lumberyard over a spot, and it would just harvest all the lumber from that spot (maybe it's surrounding area?) and your peasants would just constantly do there job lowering the burden of deciding what they do on me, and the need for high charm to make any progress.  But I sorta lost interest a while ago, but now that someone's actually asked about it I feel special so now my interest is piqued.

If you have any ideas on how to make this game even remotely managable Leave a comment on the newest versions page.

Woot, I can finally perform a real action!

I'm gonna be making gunpowder, so I'll need to know the up to date stats on how that's gonna work, seeing in the past it took a year to make 1 unit of gunpowder, which is frankly silly since the ingredients (except maybe sulfer) are crazy easy to obtain and mass produce.

You like drinking water!?  People still do that?  Evidently you are a weirdo.

I've just eaten like 8 red lobster cheddar bay biscuits today, and over the past week I have eaten over a dozen pieces of garlic bread, made with different types of bread (cuban, hoagie rolls, hamburger and hotdog buns)  Mainly cause I just discovered that yes, in fact the italian seasoning ...seasoning does give the full garlic bread experience.  The red lobster biscuit things are just cause they are delicious and someone brought them home.

Life isn't fair.

I tend to get into arguments I don't care about simply cause I know I'm right.
