DF Modding / Furniture problem (again)
« on: September 10, 2009, 03:04:52 pm »
Hello,
I'm new at modding and I have some problems.
The civs that I created and have cities have no furniture in them.
They do not worship demons (so nothing to destroy all the furniture).
How can I fix the problem ?

Before that Sensei finishes his/her fortress and that I begin making mine, how do I open a .rar file ?

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / Re: Winded
« on: September 05, 2009, 10:43:38 am »
I rember that I was training my dabbling swimming skill and when I moved in the water for the fifth time in a row, I decided to move out of the water, but when I reached the ramp I was winded for less than half a second. Then I was on the land.

I'm interested. Tell me when I'll be able to use the save.

DF Adventure Mode Discussion / "You have nothing left to fire"
« on: September 01, 2009, 08:21:38 am »
Hello,
I decided to make my character become a bowman. Everything was good at the begginning, but when I decided to fire the arrows that I found, it said "You have nothing left to fire". I bought new arrows, and it did it again.
Why ?

ASCII graphics were ok (and even good) for Adventure mode, but for Dwarf Fortress mode it was really scary.

If there's a delay in the transfer between realms, we'll need to calculate the ultimate speed of the Earth, which is impossible.

1. Atomsmash as many bins with limestone lignite in them as possible after setting them on fire.
2. Atomsmash stone. Lots of stone.
3. Atomsmash a dwarven spaceship.

I don't understand why do we need to smash Planepacked.
And about the adamantine bridge, if we can find adamantine in the same place as demons, there must be a reason. I think that demons master magic and their magic accidently (otherwise it wouldn't happen in any demon pit) turned the walls of their pits into adamantine, so it could resist to their dark power. That may explain why adamantine has strange properties (incredible lightness and hardness, for instance). So an adamantine atom smasher may atomsmash a demon, or at least handle the required power to move it to our world.

Wait !
Demons aren't gods, right ?
Demons can also destroy an atom smasher when they are atomsmashed.
This can't be because of their BUILDINGDESTROYER:2 because in that case any creature with this tag would destroy the atom smasher.
In that case it's something else. Either
 - The energy required to move the demon to an other dimension is so enormous that the atom
smasher explodes.
 - The demon generates an incredible and unknown source of energy that goes into the bridge and destroys it. In that case I think that Planepacked could destroy the atom smasher.
 - Something else.
In the two cases the problem is dued to an energy overload. We must find something that resist to that.
Adamantine.

Someone must build an giant atom smasher that can smash a demon.
But please, when you'll smash the demon, be sure that it doesn't end up in my home.
I have enough demon problems like that, so I don't want to have to deal with an other demon.

Yes, press the "Tab" key one or multiple times during fort location choice. It'll give you lots of informations about the area, including neighbouring civs. And if you're bored, you can rob/destroy a non-dwarven caravan, then prepare for a siege.

DF Gameplay Questions / Pregenerated seed problem
« on: August 24, 2009, 07:42:43 am »
Hello,
I tried to use that seed : http://www.dwarffortresswiki.net/index.php/Seed_archive#Seed_593046736:_Grand_Canyon_.2B_Giant_Caldera_.2B_all_of_Paul.27s_.26_More.21
with the non-generated name and it didn't work (the worldgen even lagged twice, the first time I needed to restart the worldgen). Could someone explain why didn't it work please ?

DF Modding / Re: No furniture, but Adamantine clothes !
« on: August 24, 2009, 04:24:22 am »
They also have leather clothes, for instance. What I meant is that guards have lots of adamantine things, and civilians have some of it. When the civilians have weapons, they are always made with adamatine (except for picks). And about the megabeast theory for the furniture problem, there's the problem in ALL cities. And I think that if a megabeast destroyed every furniture of a city, that would be recorded in legends.
