DF Modding / Re: Change window title

I don't know if this actually works because I'm on a Windows 7 and it just shows the icon.

Unfortunately it doesn't change the title.  But you did remind me that you can have Windows 7 just show the icons and not text.  (Right click taskbar, properties, change Taskbar Buttons to Always Combine).

Thanks!!

Thanks for the quick help!

did you try renaming exe? If it doesn't help then it's hardcoded:(

Yeah I did, the window title is still 'Dwarf Fortress'.  Rats.

Go to your properties of the application itself, and you should be able to rename it.

Assuming you meant the same thing, but if not could you let me know?  I've scoured file properties to no avail.

I'm leaning toward having the taskbar autohide as a partial measure.

Does anyone know if it's possible to change the window title for DF (Windows version specifically)?

For example, I'd like it to show up in the taskbar as 'Important Work' instead of 'Dwarf Fortress'...just you know, for example...

I've been searching through mods and raws but haven't come across anything yet.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: DF linux install - gtk libs
« on: June 18, 2012, 05:49:45 pm »
Thanks for all the help everyone (Seikatsukan, greycat, dexxy).  You really got me back on the right track.

I ended up installing:

ia32-libs (took care of 90% of the 64/32 bit issues)
ia32-libs-gtk (minimal amount of 32 bit gtk stuff, so no clutter, yay!!)
libSDL_image-1.2.so.0, libSDL_ttf-2.0.so.0, libwebp.so.2 (these 3 I had to manually download the files and unpack them into the df_linux/libs directory

A BIG part of my dep problem turned out to be that I had started downloading the 32 bit files manually, then realized how many there were / how long it was taking.  I found out about ia32-libs and installed it with the package manager, but derped and left the manually downloaded files in the lib directory.  I think they started trying to reference other files in the same directory, so I ended up back in dependency hell (even though I had satisfied most of them with ia32-libs) - unpacking DF again clean and just manually copying the 3 above make everything work nice and slick.

Wondering if anyone has a list of the GTK libs required for Dwarf Fortress.

Specifically, I'm currently installing Dwarf Fortress on a system running Debian Wheezy, 64 bit.  Took care of many of the 32-bit requirements with ia32-libs, but since I'm running KDE, I'd like to minimize the amount of Gnome stuff that gets pulled in with apt-get install gtk2.0 (almost 850 megs).

DF Bug Reports / Re: 40d13 linux keyboard weirdness

Thanks much!  Back up and running!

Ran into an issue with a missing 32 bit library.  I copied my old copy (that I must have figured out I needed last time b/c it was in my old ./libs) into ./libs but every time I load DF it deletes the library and complains it isn't there.  (I'm not at home so I can't remember which lib it was offhand)  I ended up making a symlink to the library instead and the game works, but df deleted the symlink when it loaded.

I'm thinking I'll just set the link to -w and that should solve it, but if anyone has a better suggestion let me know...thanks again!

Any chance you could be so kind as to point me to the right download page for 40d14 on linux?  I think I originally followed a link from a forum post to download the linux version, and never actually found a downloads page with the latest version...feeling a bit dumb!  :-[

Hi all, been enjoying df on windows for a while and finally got it running on my 64 bit Debian stable (lenny) install after much ati driver frustration.  Everything is running fine, good fps, but my keyboard, specifically the keypad isn't working as expected.

On the main menu, 8 and 2 on the keypad function as expected, also on the embark menus.  But when selecting a region and in the actual game, the keypad moves me in unexpected directions.  Off hand, I think 8 moved up and right, 4 moved down and left (those could be incorrect, but each "straight" direction key moved in a diagonal instead).

I'm using a standard 104 key keyboard, us layout.  Tried this with/without caps lock and num lock, same result.

I've looked through init.txt but didn't find any settings that seemed applicable.  Any ideas?

EDIT : I should mention that the arrow keys also do the same thing.  Up arrow performs the same incorrect way as keypad 8 (also the regular number row 8 does the same).
