DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Dealing with funked up pathfinding

How do you all do it??
Whatever I am doing it messes everything up. I usually wind up building on a aquifer scary level (non-undead) I usually wind up stuck above an aquifer (it does not matter if I encounter an aquifer, I still encounter the same pathfidnig bugs) and am forced to dig out a couple of non-stone levels before engineering a drop since freezing does not seem viable anyomre to pass the aquifers - but even before all of the aquifers, all pathfinding is destroyed.  _ before this I usually have a 3 wide ramped path going down 3 - 5 levels before expanding into rooms and long hallways and the stupid dwarves can not find anything even when messing with all types of warrens and none -

Where?!? I can't tell the finder to search for map features anymore :(

When I have graphics = on (no other options different in init) I crash when selecting any of the first start screen options.
Works fine with graphics off.

Curses / LCS - How Do I Stop Driving?

I see it says press the # - but when I press a number nothing happens. The member is still listed as driving - I tried changing from the individual squad member view to the squad overview and pressing the #'s from the vehicle screen again but still nothing.

My old grandmas always die when they go driving.

DF Suggestions / Display Historical Battles During World Generation

World gen always seems to go reasonably fast for me, but this would be something majorly cool - maybe only some one-on-one fights or something. It would definitely make world generation more interesting if we were able to witness some of the fights - Maybe these represent the tales we have been told (only we get to actually see whatever it is that generated the story) by our grandparents or somesuch. Plus whatever other goodness we could witness - maybe the leader of some site submitting to his conqueror. This is definitely not necessary and I would much rather have some new features I can actually interact or be affected by myself, but it would still be very cool.

You don't need it to be anywhere near as big as the exmaple I saw on the wiki. This one uses 52 units of water, and could handle a lot more I am sure (if you do not close the source floodgate soon enough)

Seed 373668154: Red Sand, tons of limestone & magnetite, lava, cave river, demons, chasm, trees, plants. The only thing my perfect start is missing is skeletal & zombie animals.... (and maybe a cave or two)

DF Gameplay Questions / specific noble mandate - pumice in his room

is there any way to create an armor stand with a specific type of stone. I have 2800+ stones and out of those, I have 2 pumice stones. I tried creating light stone armor stands & dark stone armor stands & regular ones but they are all every kind except pumice.

what is up with them??

did I just agree to sell my soul for 50% of the cost?

I guess I saw some big list of all the things these guys produce so I went and picked the things I liked and he decided he would charge me more money for them....


did I specifically order those things or something and that is why they cost more, so they actually take them to my fort?

and they said they want stuff too...

are the wagons that came with them the same people I made the contract with? I assume so...


so does this mean that if I had some of what they wanted - in this case short swords, they would pay more - 140% I think it was, or what? did they order a large order or something?

i dont know!

DF Gameplay Questions / Don't Change the Frequency/Viciousness of Ambushes!

I have seen a couple of posts about how much harder they are now and how they should be fixed. Don't! They are really fun how they are (especially compared to the previous version's goblins juts hanging around). Or if the frequency/viciousness of them is changed, please make it an option in the init. I have stopped using traps to offer me more of a challenge and I would love to be able to crank up the ambushes a little bit and be forced to start building some serious defenses!

If you keep following a relationship chain by viewing somebodies relationship then viewing somebody else's relationship (from the relationships screen) you can not escape (by pressing the space) without traveling all the way back to the original dwarf that you viewed. I like the whole chain-view thing, but not being stuck having to travel all the way back to where I started following the chain.

I was fighting a giant mole in a cave and I attacked her, she jumped away and disappeared. She was in between me and the wall, so I assume she jumped into the wall or something? I have a save file right after the mole disappeared if it will be of any use.
