Do all of your connected water wheels provide more than 100 power? I was going to have a long row of wheels, but it would probably be better if they were all next to each other like your design

Yeah, the things labeled as pipe sections are horizontal axles. I think I named it wrong - or else it is called a pipe section after you build, which doesn't seem to make sense, because you need an actual pipe section to build the screw pump. The %% is the pump - I forgot to label that and will do it when I get home.

For the wheel: you need to build the horizontal axle first so it will be able to float above the channel.

Yeah, I could not figure out what was what with the other tileset

You don't need it to be anywhere near as big as the exmaple I saw on the wiki. This one uses 52 units of water, and could handle a lot more I am sure (if you do not close the source floodgate soon enough)

There is a bug if you build a ramp and then remove it stuff will be hanging in open space, in case you did that.

you need to go into refuse options and change other (or skulls or whatever) to dump instead of save. I add refuse piles to the bottom of my garbage dumps too, I don't know if that does anything...

I just go build some huge imposing entry way and then schlop stuff together around it. I look around a little bit, but that's about it. Need to go to the sand on the other side of the map? Dig a tunnel. Need to go down 35 z levels to find something growing? Dig a tunnel.

I noticed the same thing with one of the maps in dwarffortresswiki. It came out completely different from the image that was posted.
