DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: I have no wood...

Have you tried Viagra? (couldn't resist). If you have an UG river you can make a towercap farm. If you don't, make a baracks with beds, the dwarves won't complain too much if you have something to keep them happy.

DF Modding / Re: Relentless Assault (version 1.1 up!)

So far have had my third lizard men siege in the second year. Dear god is this better than orcs, I had some sort of chance of killing them, thanks to the minotaur town that I put my fort right in the middle of I survived the first two. Third one I was able to hold them off with a few marksdwarves (lost one) and the roach hotel type defenses I have. I still have yet to be sieged by frogmen, oh well. I now have a shit ton of bones, gonna deliver the dead back to the lizard men via Bolt mail.

If you haven't smoothed the floors yet, smoothing them will get rid of the mud.

I remember when I had a trader who lost an ear and a middle finger. Apparently got them ripped off by a titan. Too bad they died  because they passed out on my cage traps and died in the cage. Oh well, I already got as many animals as I could from them.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Blood Clothing Bug?
« on: November 13, 2009, 08:43:07 pm »
Blood coverings, like mud and vomit, never go away. They could have gotten those coverings the day they were born or only a few frames ago. It's important for dwarves to have several layers on all parts of their body.
Fixed.

DF Gameplay Questions / Re: Overstaying his welcome?
« on: November 07, 2009, 08:25:10 pm »
In my fort thats lasted me quite awhile, I just noticed a strange dwarf that hung out with my marksdwarves. I cannot access his thoughts, preferences, or relationships. Normally it'd be cool to have some random dwarf join my army out of nowhere, but he just killed all the elves that came to trade (still debating whether this is good or not, I want exotic animals, and cloth). He's an elite marksdwarf with perfect stats, hope I can figure out what the hell he's doing in my fort.

EDIT: After various snooping in my backed up save in legends and reading relationships of some dwarves, he got married to my clerk. That however, raises another question, how the hell did a dwarf that isn't part of my civilization marry another dwarf, and why would he stay in my fort?

I've never heard of anything like this and the only thing I can think of is if you somehow have some other civ's king (who is at war with the elves) by discovering HFS and he happened to be a legendary marksdwarf from worldgen. Which I don't think can actually happen.

Can you upload a copy of your save?
Well, it's modded to hell and back, but I can. Let me clean up the folder to save on space.

You think that is weird?

One of the immigrants brought children to my map. One of them grew to become a peasant, was drafted, and became my favourite swordsdwarf. When I made a copy and checked the legends - it appears that he was only two years old when he grew up and picked up a sword.

Weirder yet, I checked megabeasts to see how they died. and discovered that this one hydra had been killed by a dwarf back in 38 ... and after abandoning the fort. THAT VERY SAME HYDRA charged in and ruined a masterful engraving, a masterful weapon rack and a masterful chest.

EDIT: oh and on topic. Maybe he came with the traders and she married him? Check his history, what civilization he belongs to - and what civilization you're trading with.

EDIT 2: I figured that it would be logical for my nobles and administrators to have some kind of friendship towards foreigners if it was true that relationships could form ... but there is none. Not even a passing acquaintance ... the only thing remotely close to this, is the fact that my queen has a fuckton of uncles, aunts, cousins and whatnot .. and her advisor has a husband as well as a fuckton of uncles, aunts etcetera. None of them are on the map.
Exactly what year did yours marry?

Year 104, it says he settled here, but he isn't part of my civilization.

DF Dwarf Mode Discussion / Re: Your best artifact ever
« on: November 06, 2009, 12:59:44 am »
Normally this would just be an average badass artifact, but the last image on it just cracks me up. All the axe is surrounded or decorated with bones, dark steel, or turtle shell. Then theres an image of a cute vermin in CLOTH on an axe.
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
My game is heavily modded, that explains some of the odd materials.

First dragon I've ever had arrived! Yay, oh whats that? There's a goblin siege incoming? The more the merrier!
As of now, theres a dragon chasing goblins around my map slaughtering them and causing forest fires. I'm not killing this dragon, I'm gonna capture the damn thing and give it MANY sacrifices.

He made a bone cage, called The Land Of Torment. What a fitting title, any animal gets wrestled to death, or burn to death from the constant forest fires I like to start.

Fell Moods are different, they have no demands, they just kill someone and make something out of their body parts. I think the person he killed corpse was claimed by someone to put in a coffin accepting burials so he didn't get it.

If so, then give him back his body.  He killed it, he's willing to clean it, he should keep it.  8)
Holy shit, deconstructing the coffin made him finally start working, awesome.

He wants something you aren't offering him.

If you <q>uery the workshop, you should(?*) see a list of demands, items he wants. They may be a bit cryptic - see wiki "mood"/demands for a list of interpretations.

(*fell moods might be diff - dunno.)

Not that he will cycle through item demands - the workshop won't show all demands at once.  Also, he may be working - check and see if you got the "Urist McFell has begun a mysterious construction!' message, or just see if the workshop says he's working.  You may have missed the memo (I do that sometimes, hitting space while already centered on the workshop and just as the start of the construction pauses the game).

what the hell?
Ive never heard of that
If you're talking of a fell mood in general, they're very rare as they have special requirements. It's basically a mood that happens when a dwarf gets the lucky(or unlucky?) roll and gets a mood WHILE he is unhappy, it's very atmospheric in a tantrum spiral, everyone is going crazy/berserk/extremely depressed and suddenly someone just stops and starts laughing then murders another dwarf to make an object.
