I actually got a good run going, but it ended when my character save was lost. :'( Also, I get quite a bit of latency when I try to play the thing, every button press takes about 1-2 seconds to register.

I'm gonna hold off on playing until someone can manage to get the thing to run locally.

I hate to say it, but the latest changes to combat is really making me consider taking the pure caster route.

Muramasa nerfed, Sunfury/Blue Moon nerfed, starfury MP reduced and damage almost doubled (still sucks), space gun damage boosted (pierce reduced), magic damage boosting potion, magic regen boosting potion, etc.

The biggest thing is the addition of the Demon Scythe spell, that thing shreds ANYTHING with little effort.

You need at least 1525 faith points to get the pet, 2525 to get the secret treasure, and 4025 to get the special weapon.

Which is 61, 101, and 161 preferred sacrifices, respectively.

If you're going for Kitty Goddess, the fishing skill is almost a must. I recommend taking Opatos or Jure as your first gods, as they have ore as their preferred sacrifices (which includes junk stone).

How are you getting dayblooms to bloom so well? In my garden they rarely if ever do. I figured it had something to do with light level, considering moonflowers seem to be having the same problem.
Dayblooms only bloom at day, Moonglows only bloom at night.

Terraria merged with Curse.com some time ago, and apparently something went wrong with one of their major servers; so a lot of curse-linked sites are down.

What color is the dungeon on the new map?
Is there a hellevator somewhere? I'm thinking of rebuilding the Hellfire Inn, except with 500% more module capacity.

Maybe I'll create Brinstar.
There's KineseN's one as said before, and there's Derm's under his tower, and there's another one Derm dug with TNT.

Pink, but Hatchy was tearing it down awhile ago. I'm pretty sure it's mostly empty by now anyway.

Wishing farm? How does that work?

I could've used that before buying my museum and ranch.

It's a moongate map with a custom NPC in the corner.

The "Little Brother" NPC occasionally casts wishes (and often fails), but splits when hit, and the original is tied to a sandbag which means it never dies. You hit the sandbagged NPC and make it split, then have the split monsters cast wish. They're hostile, but are extremely weak.

And this dude.

RED.
ARREMER.

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUU-

On the other hand, Yay Alchemy! I was going to suggest semi-permanent mutations that would give both positive and negative effects, but this works too.

You make bunny cry.

In other news, there seems to be a goblin invasion underway, I'd deal with it myself but my crappy connection keeps kicking me.
So if you're going to login, head in with your strongest character.

Okay, the goblin invasion is done. Is there a hellevator somewhere? I'm thinking of rebuilding the Hellfire Inn, except with 500% more module capacity.

Maybe I'll create Brinstar.

Go to Yowyn, get sense quality.

I cannot stress the utter importance of this skill enough. It slowly identifies items, increases perception very quickly, and is trained by holding unidentified items. Increased perception means you deal more ranged damage, dodge more often, and land more critical hits.

That's either an etherwind disease teleportitis effect or an item effect, not a racial ability.

ANY cursed item can also give that effect, and it doesn't show up on the item's info screen either.

Is there a way to get into a dungeon and not get mercilessly gibbed by the first monsters that come across my path?

Because that's all I ever do.

Dying.
Depending on which race/class you started as, dungeon diving is probably out of your league. Every skill choice you make at the beginning is vital to your survival. Every point, every platinum coin, every bit of equipment can mean life or death.

If you're open to a bit of metagaming, drop everything of value at home, head to a high level dungeon, and pray for a good weapon. Otherwise, you'll probably be grinding for a fair bit.

Good skills to start with are magic device, sense quality (best skill ever), evasion, greater evasion, weight lifting, depending on whether you're ranged or melee, tactics or marksmanship. And obviously, some weapon and armor skills.

Other nice skills are mining (con boosts + minor loot), jeweler (scrolls of inferior material for getting rid of cursed items), cooking (for more stat boosts). Try to get anatomy too, since it increases the chance of getting corpses (and thus, early resistances and stats).

Alchemy and carpentry are nice to have, but the relatively small chance of amassing specific materials makes them less useful than other skills.

Ranged > Melee, find yourself an UNCURSED ranged weapon asap, anything is better than nothing; so long as it's uncursed.
Also, grab some snow. It's useful for locating pumpkins and greatly increasing your fire resistance.

Also remind me to never pick Elea again.
My main is an Elean, and you don't see "Scissor Happy Blaze was killed by (blah)" do you?
If you're starting out as a complete newbie, I strongly suggest picking golem as your race. Unless you're open to using debug races as well.

Erm... how do I get back from "Test World"? :(
What, aren't there any monsters to kill you?
Return spell? Scroll of Return?

I don't recall exactly, but shouldn't there be a camp or something that lets you travel back?

Alternatively, you can always starve to death.

Kind of hard, we'd be utilizing glitches, but the idea is nice.

Anyway, to make it more effective, shouldn't there be a "director" character holding a water candle and occasionally activating strange eyeballs?

I'm assuming the person hosting will be the director; since it's otherwise impossible to have a perpetual bloodmoon. Also, what glitches would we be using? The "Cobwebs hold up sand" isn't a glitch as far as I know.

If you mod the game to have perpetual bloodmoon and an increased spawn rate (And having multiple shopkeepers clones if you're planning on having shops), the water candles are unnecessary and the lack of a director wouldn't affect the game too much; barring cheaters or griefers.

As for EoC spawning (Tanks?), EoC's may be a bit much for lightly armed characters with 100HP, even if they are armed with good gear. If possible, I'd prefer to have King Slimes.

Since we have a Terravania map, anyone want to try making a Left 4 Terraria map?
