Play With Your Buddies / Re: Sengoku Rance - Is it Allowed?
« on: September 17, 2010, 10:49:06 am »
Alright, I'm just about ready to start, but I need an answer for one simple question:

I transferred over my old saves from the Japanese version, and while the saves don't work correctly, the bonus unlocks seem to work fine. I have 15 bonus points, 10 of which I used for an extra action fan; but that leaves 5 points which I can use to add a bonus character to my ranks.

So the question is whether I should use those points or attempt to get by without them?

Also, does anyone have a better method of taking screenshots? Vista's PrintScreen+Ctrl-V is very time consuming.

Might I ask why they want the panda?
During the mountain hiking event; He found it and goes "Hey I should capture it to give it to the girls." followed by the line above.

Japan has had a relationship with China for longer then Japan had a written history.

Though this is some weird Japan... I thought Japan was a series of islands. When in the world was it just one?
Since the greater youkai learned proper use of the handwavium element.

Can we name cities/lands?
If you mean as a feature in-game no, but if you want to name it yourself I don't mind. Hell, you can call it "Fleshpoles the Throbbing of Shafts" and I doubt Rance would even bat an eye.

I'll probably get to work on it tomorrow.

I vote Wood Elves.

I agree, if we have a dwarf-only group we'll probably run into team balance problems later.
This way, if our team does lose, we have someone we can sacrifice to relieve stress.

Play With Your Buddies / Sengoku Rance - Is it Allowed?
« on: September 15, 2010, 11:37:32 am »
I received the game as a gift ages ago and played it a couple of times. It's Nintendo Hard fun, but it was Japanese and playing it was slow due to my low Jap-reading skills.

I just learned it now has an English patch available, so I wondered if I could do an LP for it.

The thing is...
1. I'm practically playing blind since the patch also changed a lot of game mechanics.
2. It's an eroge.
3. I've never really done an LP before. All my experience was from reading other LP's; out of which only two have been completed.

For the eroge part, if I leave out all the H-scenes and replace them with horrible sexual innuendo it should balance out and still be within forum rules right?

As for the game... Game's set in the Sengoku period of Japan. Our job is to take over Japan. Think Nobunaga's ambition and replace Nobunaga with a tactless sexual satyr and you've probably got the game in a nutshell.

Here's some screenie's.

Who else is still playing? I finally got into Clan 10 and I've yet to see the rest of you  :-\

Koin (Clan leader) was saying something about taking us crabbing (Killing Faecrabs overseas) once we can get a decent group together.

Why hasn't anyone mentioned Darklands yet???  >:(
Spelunky, Iji, La-Mulana, and Cave story are great platformers; and that's a horrific understatement. I don't know what kind of genre HeroCore fits into, but that's also a good game.

There's the Massive Mod for the Standed II game, though the download is standalone from the original.

Then there's the I Wanna Be the Guy series of games for all the masochists out there.

Then there's Yume Nikki (Dream Diary) for the "what the hell am I playing" genre.

For puzzle buffs, I posted threads about Irisu Syndrome and Ai to Yuuki to Kashiwa Mochi, but those are Japanese games and can screw with your computer if you don't install them right; you can just search the forum for them. /shameless self promotion

Then a crapload of other games which also have threads here such as:
Survival Crisis Z
Transcendence
Oolite
Zafehouse
Elona
Mages Guild
Incursion
Triangle Wizard
Powder
Gearhead
Battleships Forever
Dink Smallwood

And a host of other games whose names escape me.

By jah, dungeon running seemed to have become a waste of time slots.  Mostly cause I am barely making it... or getting KO too easily.
Have you considered bringing in some recovery items on your own? I buy some whenever the price drops just for such an occasion.

That being said, these price changes are really throwing my haggling for a loop.

I've been getting lots of heart symbols from my customers lately, but I have no idea what it means; maybe it's just a random thing that doesn't do anything?

So in my game, Charme is broke as crap and can't even afford apples (!!!) while the generic base guy is rich as arse and is repeatedly paying me 50,000pix worth of stuff each time.
I *think* adventurer wealth depends on their success on your adventures, I've noticed that Louie had no problem buying my Parade armor at a 150% during a price hike.

By the by, I read that you get enrollment privs upon acceptance into clan 10, so if one of you would come pick me up I'd be grateful.

I'll be on some of tomorrow, but I have a lot of chores to do; grocery shopping, general cleaning, and you wouldn't believe how quickly laundry piles up in this house. I'll probably be sitting on the faeball while playing Recettear so link me a couple of times if the first one didn't catch my attention.

I probably shouldn't be starting something new with my internet spazzing out like it is, but then again, a text-based MUD doesn't really require a high-end internet connection, does it?

DOES IT?!
Let me put it this way. The first time I played this game was 8 years ago at home with a dial-up connection in a backwater province in Europe.

I suppose it depends on the time of the day. I had it 3 times for ~30 minutes for the first two and an hour on the last, giving me a total of ~9,000,000 gold. I ended up letting my opponents kill me because of the sheer boredom.

I just got 2.8million gold and 3 medals for sitting around in the wilderness reading help files for 30 minutes while holding a FABULOUS magic ball.

or
I dunno, probably both.

Check who has the faeball if you have the time using the "Faeball" command or listening in on the current events channel. If no one's holding it you can get it yourself, it's well worth it.

Edit: And once again...

I suppose since the majority of votes go to Hrathgar, the rest of us should go ahead and join him. If you feel like joining another clan you're more than welcome to carve your own fate.

How do you get out of NEWBIE and into Hrathgar's? I'm around Lv.13.

Type in "newbie" to enter/leave the newbie clan. Then you'll need to find a clan member with recruitment privileges to enroll you.

That brings up another important thing to note, I want you all to make sure of the clan you want to join. Nothing is cheap for clans and the same goes for enrollment fees. It costs 25,000 * (your level) to enroll someone. So for a level 20 person, it costs approximately 500,000 gold. For a multi-class like me, it costs over 2,275,000 gold. So I don't want skittish people joining and then leaving on a whim; we have a reputation to uphold after all.

um.

How do i log in using the char i made yesterday? When i type in the name instead of NEW i'm getting the creation process again  ???

If you left the game before reaching level 3 your character won't be saved. So you'll have to start over.

Gah, so many choices.

I'll leave the decision to the rest of you, far be it for me to decide all of our futures.

How can I use some of those custom scripts that were linked a few pages back?

You'll need to use the mudmaster client in order to use those scripts.

Well, I've went ahead and petitioned to join clan 56, Crimson Crusaders.
1. They do a bit (a lot) of everything. Shipping, Trading, Eq'ing, Etc.
2. They have an absolutely sexy 60 HP bonus on joining.
3. They're willing to kick inactives for a bunch of newbies like us.
4. They have a lot of experience that we can all benefit from.
