Oh I so want to be a paladin (warrior + cleric) in this game. Or a spell-slinging ranger (mage + thief?)!

Archery's a warrior skill, and you can only use it while in a group, but otherwise CC Mage + War Multi in a group is more than viable.

So what's everyone looking for in a clan? I'm serious, if we're all going to group together in one clan than we might as well pick one we can all enjoy.
You can use "Showclan N" to see all the clans, "Showclan <Clan#>" to see their stats, and "Showclan P <Clan#> to see their profile.

Aren't you level 79 or something? When I looked you up it said something like that in brackets after your current level.

Level 91 actually, but in essence, I'm still a level 29 character,

When you multiclass, you go from level 31 back to level 1 and lose the benefits of those levels; but you keep any skills/spells of any previous classes you've already been. So even though I'm a mage, I can still cast cleric spells like heal and sanctuary. Some skills/spells can only be used by the appropriate class i.e. only current-class thieves can backstab, only current-class clerics can cast benediction, etc. Additionally, you need to be the right level to use the spell, so no casting frost shards (level 16 spell) as a level 10 cleric-mage.

So if you put a mage, cleric, and warrior together in one group, you're probably more than able to handle the above route.

For those interested, Running pearls or teak from Mystara to New Genesia brings in an easy 2.2 million gold, with 80% of the run being in risk 350- territory. I've been devaluing the heck out of it though :p.

I haven't valued any of the other "easy" (Risk 400 or less) trading posts yet, but I'll check them out eventually.

I'm attempting to make contact with some clan recruiters, but I have no idea what we're looking for. Speak up guys.

For the record, almost all clans have at least 4 ships, so that won't be a problem.
Personally, I'm looking for a clan that does regular TRs, I'm hoping to build a nice nest egg before I multiclass.

I was on a trade route and I saw symbols that looked like red pine trees, being smart, and having a pack mule, I went around them, being me, I tested going into one and guess what? Killer trees.

Those are haunted trees. If you take a trade mount into the same room as one they'll be destroyed; the trade mount that is.
Friendly ghost riders spawn once they're destroyed though, so they're not all bad. They don't move so they can be exterminated at your leisure. They all spawn with infinite length sanctuary so they're  a bit lengthy to kill though.

Also, about the clans, join or don't join, I need a decision.

I have got to ask this... WHAT IS YOU GOD DAMN AVATAR???? Its driving me crazy, its like a Moustache hypnotism thing....

It's a Mario Kart DS commercial for Japan.

Other Games / Ai To Yuuki To Kashiwa Mochi - Yet Another Puzzle Game
« on: September 05, 2010, 06:57:30 pm »

The game's title translates into "Love, Courage, and a Leaf-Wrapped Rice Cake" download here.

When you start the program, a little box pops up asking whether you want fullscreen or not.
On the title screen, the change the music by clicking the music note and exit the game by clicking the footprints. The options from the top are "start", "rankings", and "Story".

The story is simple: The girl (Ai) wakes up in the middle of nowhere and meets up with the boy (Yuuki). And then suddenly, sweets rain from the sky.

Yay!

The game's simple, but extremely difficult:
1. Rotate the sweets in the cursor by clicking. Left click to rotate counter-clockwise and right click to rotate clockwise.
2. Match up rows of the same sweets in lines of 4 or greater, horizontally, vertically or diagonally.
3. The bars on the left show how much time you have remaining. Your blue bar empties first but is refilled every time you complete a combination. The orange bar drains more slowly but refills only when you make chains.
4. If you can complete a line by making only a single move, you create a chain. Chain chains for combo bonuses.
5. Some tiles can't be removed normally, you can throw those off the bottom of the screen by rotating them so they fall through the bottom of the table.

They're a fairly active clan, and you're far from the only newbies there. They seem to dislike CPK or at least are inactive in such so you won't have to worry about that.

Keep in mind that training requires 35 practices unless it's your class's primary stat, where it only costs 20 practices.

    WARRIOR = STRENGTH, STAMINA
    CLERIC  = WISDOM
    THIEF   = DEXTERITY, STAMINA
    MAGE    = INTELLIGENCE

I've also got tons of stuff I'm overly eager to give away. So if I suddenly pop out in front of you, look you over, and start offering you things like balls or rods please don't run away.

Edit: I just got an offer from Zaph, a representative of The Knights Templar who seems willing to take us. How do the rest of you feel about joining a more active clan?

Thieves aren't exactly meatshields, so where would they be in the form? One of the big plusses of being a thief is the backstab ability, correct? It seems to me that any "long" weapon wouldn't be a backstabber. Of course, I could be wrong. I haven't seen any long weapons yet.

Usually they take to the front-sides, with the front-center going to the person taking the brunt of the damage. With proper equipment they can tank just as well. I've never heard of a long backstabber either, they're usually limited to daggers.

Quote
Also, I seem to be stupid. I picked up a double-edged (or was it bladed...) dagger from a donation room yesterday. I bought another dagger today that gave better boosts and didn't identify either of them. The old one, which I sold, netted me 1250 gold. The one I bought cost 55 or something. I take that to mean that I'm braindead and sold something very useful.

The damage dice is the difference. A Double-edged dagger is 6d4, a store bought dagger is usually 3d5.

I don't mind bringing a few people along on my trade runs - link me anytime I'm on and ask me if I'm free - but I have to impose some restrictions.

1. Be at least level 17 - I might make a few exceptions, but my runs are quite dangerous and can double as xp farms.
I usually send people to xp in the graveyard early on, were the monsters give around 3-7k experience each. I tend to meet a couple of mob factions along the road. A single risk 400 lion can give upwards of 250,000 xp, and there can be up to THIRTY every time they spawn; I usually end up fighting 12 of those lions AT THE SAME TIME.

2. Have time - These trade runs usually take around 20-30 minutes, but it can be delayed by bad weather or a sadistic DM - I faced off against a lion's den, then ran into haunted a forest, then had a crystal spider lair appear UNDER the forest, then was attacked by centaur bandits WITHIN THE SAME 20 ROOMS. And they can spawn with little or no warning, there are times where I can barely protect myself, much less the rest of you.

3. Have the following items:

A. A source of teleport, NOT RECALL. Wolves, Lions, and Pigs block you from fleeing and there are often times where I'm forced to resort to hit and run tactics in order to continue. It's important that you have the ability to run and do so quickly. I can resurrect players who die, but it drains me of both hp and mp so I'm hoping I won't have to resort to it. Menthol potions fit this bill if you can't cast the spell, and you can buy them in the cleric's quarter. "Enter Cleric" from recall and look for the shop called "The Ordained". Have at least 10, but the more the better.

B. A source of healing - golden seal/green potions etc. You can buy golden seal potions 2e and 2n of recall. I'm probably going to be the one tanking most of the time, but all mob factions have a special process that will deal damage to you regardless of your position, and it will bypass ANY type of protection, including manashields.

C. An alternative form of attack - Unless you're pretty damn uber at the time, you probably won't be able to go toe-to-toe with the beasties we'll be facing. If possible I'll stick you in the middle or back rows - but for melee classes that means you won't be able to engage in battle effectively. In that case, find a weapon with the "Long" attribute which allows you to engage in battle in the middle rows without any penalties, or go to the shop mentioned above "The Ordained" and buy some platinum wands.

If possible, do both since you can attack in melee and fire a wand at the same time. The command to use wands is to first "Hold" the wand, then "use wand <enemy>". You'll automatically grab a replacement wand if there's one in your inventory when you current one runs out of charges. Level 20 or above characters can buy "Heavy Oak Staves" which cast harm on all enemies in the room, which is one of the best options available.

D. Optional 200,000 gold - If you've played for a decent amount of time, you've probably received your newbie gifts by now, so this amount is trivial. If you don't have it, I'll provide it. 100,000 to buy a covered wagon, 10,000 to buy a mount, and the rest will be more than enough to cover the costs of the goods.

For players above level 20, carry an extra 100,000 gold, that's to call a dragon to defend you if an evil dragon starts hunting you. When you see the message about a dragon hunting someone, immediately warn the others via "f <message>" and then attempt to "link". If you're not able to link, it means you're the one being hunted. Immediately "call" a dragon to defend you.

4. Everyone should know the following commands: They're case insensitive.
"Freight" which will direct you to where your freight is in case you lose it.
"brief" to cut out all the extra flavor text of the rooms when we travel.
"hitch" to hitch your freight in case we have to leave it somewhere.
"take covered" to unhitch your freight, which will usually be a covered wagon.
"tether" to tether your mount in case you have to dismount.
"mount" to mount your mount. mount.
"follow" to form parties.
Formtalk "f <message>" to talk to your members.
"Formlog" - We'll usually be moving very quickly, so the messages will scroll by very quickly. This command allows you to review the last few messages sent via formtalk.
"Form" to see your position in the formation.
"Freport" or just "fre" to see your party's hp/mp.
"weather" to check the weather. Be on the lookout for things like Hurricanes, wasp storms, tornadoes, fire storms, and the incredibly dangerous Storms from Afar.
"link" to teleport in and out of Medlink. That's where we'll be chilling in case we run into bad weather we can't avoid.

Not entirely, if we ran the same route over and over the profits would drop due to demand deterioration.
It brings up another possibility though: Naeramae runs.

The problem is that Naeramae is CPK, meaning it's crawling with tons of campers. Not to mention the high risk would mean we'd be annihilated by MFs, even if we were all level 31.

It takes me about 20 minutes to run Riverton -> New Genesia, which usually nets me a bit more than 1.2mil gold. Though it mostly depends on what MF's I run into. That's alone, with appaloosa mounts and 150,000 starter gold with no deaths.

If we manage to get 9 of us to level 20-ish in one group we could probably do a slightly tougher route and possibly bring in 3 million each, and even more depending on how the runs go. I haven't tried using wagon trains yet, but the extra goods that it can carry can bring that 3 million to 5 million each.

how do you specify which thing you want when theres more than one kind? I have two different potions.

You can either type in "<command> #.potion" depending on what position the potion is on your inventory list. Items can also have more than one "name", a "swirling potion of blue and white" can be interacted with by using the word potion, blue, white, swirling, or recall.
Let's say your inventory has the following:
4 misty potions
12 green potions
a waybread
bag
-7 potions of godlike protection
-14 golden seal potions.

To quaff a misty potion you could type in "q misty" or simply "q" because that will choose the potion on the top of the list.
To quaff a green potion, you could type in "q green" or "q 5.potion" because that would be the 5th item named potion on the list.

To pull out only one potion of godlike protection, you could type in "get potion bag" or "get godlike bag".
To pull out a golden seal potion, you could type in "get golden bag" or "get 8.potion bag".
