I work as one of the Chefs on a resort, if anyone's curious. There's several casual and fine-dining restaurants and I'm shifted as needed.

There's been several incidents among some employees that resulted in people leaving, so it is definitely just a temporary situation. In the meantime, more work for me.

647
As in 3 12 hour days followed by 4 10 hour days, and now four more days.

648
I believe it was CoreTemp (Which also showed normal 30-40C degrees). I didn't even see any option about it.

In any case, it seems that temperature isn't the issue, so we'll keep going. I've also got a surprise today, 4 days of work in a row instead of my usual days off. Joy.

649
Bah, one of those temperature monitors installed Search protect and something called "Orbiter", so now I have to run a virus scan. Apparently they're both "legitimate" programs and they seem to have disappeared upon uninstalling them, but I'm running Malware Bytes just to make sure.

Hm... Okay, this is odd. Piriform's Speccy program reports a CPU temp of 90C+ consistently, but Speedfan reports it as a normal 30-40C.

The fan is running silently, the laptop is cool to the touch, I have the laptop specifically set to ensure airflow isn't blocked. I haven't gotten a single warning of any sort on if my laptop is overheating (I should get those right?)So I have no idea what's going on.

651
Okay, now I have no idea what's going on, opened it up, cleaned all the vents, emptied the fan (It was a little lint ball in there), blew compressed air through everything possible, yet the temp is still pushing high 80s.

I guess it's going to have to wait until I can get this laptop to a professional.

If we're already loaded to the point where we're losing TU's, that's enough weight. Particularly for me who's going to need those TUs to uncover aliens for all our snipers.

Swap 1-2 of my regular grenades into smokes though, so I can at least give a bit of cover while exiting the dropship, because if this game is anything like XCOM (And it's a LOT like XCOM), walking into the open results in instant-reaction-fire-induced-plasma-death.

Figured out what was wrong, after a memory and hardware test came up empty, I went and downloaded speccy. It turns out my CPUs were running 90+ degrees on average and my temp reporter was off the whole time! Luckily, there doesn't seem to be any serious damage yet, but I'm keeping my laptop off until I can find something to open up that annoying tiny screw on the back so I can clear the fan.

So until then, I'm gonna have to call a hold on the giveaway again. my apologies. You can still vote and apply until the list is full, but it may be some time until I can go buy one of those tiny screwdriver things.

Hunters are like X-Com's tanks.

Also, be sure to load up on our weight until we start taking TU penalties, no real reason not to unless we're lacking funds for dakka. I can probably carry a second shield and some smoke grenades.

It just occurred to me that we should have parked somewhere with more landmass. Because when UFOs go down over water it's unsalvageable.

Hm, I've encountered that "Computer freezes completely when playing games". It happened when playing Crypt of the Necrodancer instead of Hisoutensoku. The only thing that's similar is the method it crashes; the sound goes into a loud "krrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr" sound and then stops. I have no choice but to force-off the computer.

Does anyone know why this would happen on a stock Windows 8 laptop (aside from the fact that it's Windows 8 ). The only thing I can think of is the audio driver or graphics card conflicting with something. I've checked Google, but the graphics card is AMD, not NVIDIA.

Edit: It seems that it was either a one-time thing or updating my display driver fixed it.

Since people have figured out it's Monday, I don't need to say it do I?

Ah well, it's a bit too late for me so I'll save writing up the update for later. Debugging my Cataclysm mod and trying to figure out Github has taken most of my story-thinking time lately.

I was actually thinking of mimicking The Binding of Isaac or Crypt of the Necrodancer's intro for that part, but I decided it's probably time to get to the meat and potatoes of the story; but you'll have to wait for that later.

In other words, a game where killing people feels bad.

Points for realistic depiction?
