I just think that an announcement should be made whenever anything is killed. This isnt typically frequent enough where the announcements would be annoying. Mentioning who was the killer would be nice if the death was violent.

An announcement should be made when anything has been killed and by whom. For example, a goblin is fighting a squad of axedwarves, an annoucenment should be made that "Goblin Whatshisname has been struck down by Urist Axedwarf". I sometimes give nicknames based on kills and this feature would be helpful.

What happens to the contents of a cart when a cart crashes? Would they be flung all over the place or would they stay inside the cart? Would this be different if the contents were 15 shoes or a dwarf? Also, do carts take damage after wrecks and collisions? Will it be possible to repair damaged carts?

I had three caged goblin thieves and too many children. I built an arena where I setup a burrow that included all the children and built the goblin cages inside. There were three armed goblin thieves against 38 children. The battle actually took a long time but in the end the goblins were dead as were several children. However one seven year old girl had killed two of the goblins with her bare hands. I named her Goblinbane. She will be a leader among my people.

Most jobs require more than one worker, even if the other one is an assistant. Perhaps workshops could be assigned like rooms to assign a head worker/master and then assistants or fellow workers could increase efficiency, quality, amount produced... with all dwarves involved gaining relevant experience. Or maybe just the highest skilled dwarf would be in charge. Or it could be based on political or personality factors.

I'm looking forward to #4. I think the added variety to fort mode and the dwarves acting more as a community with festivals and fairs and taverns will create fort designs and stave off boredom after I make an impregnable fort.

I want to be able to setup a fort near a major road or river or near another settlement and have random traffic just passing through. Such thoroughfares and nearby settlements would have much more traffic then if I built a fort in the tundra or desert. A raft with a merchant or traveller coming down the river or a caravan not destined for my fort trekking down a road or a wanderer or minstrel or whatever. They do not necessarily need to want to interact with my fort. That way I can waylay said travellers and loot their corpses or be able to block said rivers and roads and demand tolls or just let them pass through.

I'm sorry if what I say is disrespectfull to everyone here, especially programmers.

But I came to the conclusion that Toady One is like Notch. And I mean exactly like notch.

Except ironically Notch is the faster of the two.
Alright, you've got my attention. Name one way in which Tarn Adams is anything like Markus Persson. One. I dare you. One. I'm listening.

They are both English-speaking, caucasian, human males that create independent video games, where mining is a pivotal feature, which are distributed through the internet and have a devoted fanbase.

I did a search for this but could not find an answer so sorry if it has already been asked:

How urgent is the need for a vampire to feed? Will they starve to death or grow weaker if they don't feed for a long time? Or is it more like a somemthing they are just driven to do without any real benefits to themselves other than filling their bloodlust?

Urist McMarksdwarf has killed Barghov The Fear Titan - unaffected due to losing both his ears in a training accident 3 months prior.

Which brings up the whole aspect of having deaf dwarves. How would they communicate with other dwarves? Dwarven sign language? Would they have Proficient Lip Reader skill?
That would be both sweet and a definate bummer for adventurers. We already have blind dwarves.

However I would like to make prisoner's in my fort's dungeon deaf and blind.

I had been attacked by a goblin civ before. I had originally just thought these new goblins were part of the goblin civ. It wasn't until I saw that a goblin king was in the ambush that I check the civ screen and realized he was king of the dwarves. No dwarf ambushers ever showed up.
