Prototype was 2 weeks late.
In game development terms that means "right on schedule!"

We have a block detector we have used on a road layer(that conformed to the terrain), and on torpedoes.

It works by checking if the frame is stuck in the active stage.

The downside is that you need to try and move into the block you are detecting. but why do you want to detect empty blocks anyways?

I think that moving the assembler(or the entire frameship) is a lot better than moving the medium. When you move the medium you need r(radius) space on each side of the building.

I'd recommend you start simply, by making a 3d printer that makes a simple little shack, then work up to the procedural stuff from there.

EDIT: Thinking about it you could have a block passing a current through it.
A frame motor moves the block down, into the block you are checking. then you try to pass current through the block. if you get 1 there is a block, if you get 0 there is empty space.
Then use another motor to move the block back into position.
there ya go!... i might try to prototype it and upload a picture.

EDIT2: thinking more about it, it might be easier to just check if the motor moved the frame.

Who here bought TA:K and got sorely disappointed?
I've never played it, but I heard TA:K is not so bad actually. It has nothing to do with original TA and is step back in some directions, but sides are supposed to be quite unique and t plays decently enough.
So I heard.

Guess you heard wrong :)
I was a huge TA fan back then, and i got so disappointed.
but i dare you, go ahead into some of shady places on the internets and find TA:K, and tell me what you think.

I think he might be talking about Terra Novos....

Also, your normal server is block lagged all to hell right now.

And almost every unit in TA could at least try to hit any other units... artillery had a small chance of killing aircraft, bombers could hit fighters passing below them.
Lot's of units had projectile based attacks so the move speed of a unit was a very important defensive measure.
And small, fast, close ranged units had a chance to work, as their fallen brethren formed at wall that they could hide against while advancing.

Oh i loved that game so much!

The question is not if they have people that worked on TA,
i'd rather know if don't have people who worked on TA:Kingdoms.
What a horrible horrible game...

The manually mined ones with block breakers.
But it's not the mining that is the problem, rather it's the colliding of liquids.
so using the other method that you use, does not generate lag.
This actually led to TN banning block breakers, on the grounds that people would not stop making cobble generators.
Disabling UU i feel is a much better choice though.

From experience i can say that cobble generators lagged the server to oblivion more times than i can count on TN.
On the new server, i think that you will have to ban them, since the hardware demand will be much higher anyways.

EDIT: i just realized that this is a pointless discussion since you will be removing UU... so no need for cobble generators, therefore no reason to ban them :)

Cobble-stone generators kills the server, i thought they were generally banned?

I should probably work on how I do boosters. Because I don't really do boosters so well. Most of the time I just stick a load more liquid fuel rockets on the side that feed fuel into the central column so that they run out first.

Instead I just try and make rockets as tall as possible. They are now at the point where they start snapping in half, they wobble so much.
I use the same method, i call it The Dropper.
Like you said, feeds to inner engines and drops the outer ones.
This is as far as i know the most efficient design.
BUT you rocket ends up looking like a cylinder.

Using this method i landed on the Mun with 6 engines each with 4 full fuel tank, and a secondary lander on top(i flew to minmus with it after i landed on the mun). This was in the last version though, before the large fuel tanks.

I had thought about that, and it would indeed be quite a lot of fun. That's one reason I won't be disabling frames and frame equipment. I do, however, think they should be special and rare, not knocked together on a whim and thrown into battle. It should hurt when your airship is destroyed, not feel like "Eh I'll just wait till my frame quarry digs out another 12 chunks and make two more airships whatever"
This was a few pages back, but caught my eye.
When my airship gets destroyed  it does hurt, and it would still hurt if i made it for free.
why? because i invested a lot of time building it.
The true cost of anything in minecraft should be calculated as Cost=Buildtime+Miningtime+Craftingtime.
so even if we take out the miningtime from the equation, frameships is a huge investment.

And that why you should not restrict frameships, but rather restrict the block breaker.
It's the most simple way to control frame quarries, and it only requires you to restrict one block.

If the block breaker is just expensive enough, UU generation is removed, and teleport tethers are restricted, it would make frame quarries much more limited, even to the point that it could be balanced.

Our ridiculously large frame quarry(it has 2 rows of block breakers from the surface to bedrock!) does not really mine that much ore, let alone diamonds. The thing that makes it OP is that it digs so much cobble, that can be turned to UU that can be turned into anything.
Without UU our miner would be much weaker. And it would have slightly less than 250 block breakers if the were restricted(or just required diamond pickaxe.... why does it only need an iron one? Eloraam!!!!)

IMO the Soyuz rockets looks way better than the N1,
They look like a bottle rockets with firecrackers on the sides: awesome :)

that said, back to the game:
I think they should do some work(in the far future) on making long slender rockets better, since right now, that's kind of the worst design possible. This might be due to the lack of proper air resistance calculations.
I'd love to not have my rockets look like a thick cylinder.

But oh man, so pumped for the next update, whenever it arrives. The last update was kinda gimmicky(But added very important assets for later).
We should have Race to see who gets to the new planets first, and the grand price to the one who visits all the planets first.
And Uber Mega price to that one guy that somehow manages to land on all the planets and moons with a single rocket.
