Just fought and lost horribly to the Hag (first boss of the weald). Came into the fight  fully healed with nearly 0 stress and all 2nd level heros and she just wasted me... She permanently stuns one person (and that person takes damage for every move, not every turn, every move any character takes). Additionally she was getting ~3 moves a round for some damn reason. To finish it off, she has this big pot as her front line and every time I killed it, it just instantaneously came back with full hp, which really fuckin sucked considering I had a melee focused party.

257
So I've learned two things that rather displease me:
1. Hero's can gain perk combos that make it impossible for them to relieve stress in town (such as god fearing plus witness).
2. Hero's can't go on missions two levels below them >.<

258
Got a pretty decent game goin myself. Beat the apprentice necromancer a while ago, and got a couple people approaching level three. But recently I got hit by a couple really bad missions and now most of my rooster is out due to stress. Been scramblin to keep enough gold to fund stress treatment and haven't really made a profit in about 5 missions now.
I also desssperatly need paintings, can't actually make use of my higher level hero's cuz I don't have enough paintings to upgrade the guild.

@Nenjin, if your using Bounty Hunters a lot you should consider combining them with Occultists, since Occultists can mark enemies with curse of vulnerability.

So just dove in bout 40 minutes ago, and already had my first party wipe... in the tutorial... this is awesome.

And then I tackled the first dungeon with a party consisting of two plague doctors and two of the cleric girls. It didn't go well.

Anyways, once you start using a specific serum, can you still get mutations from other types of serums? I plan to inject myself with medical serum once I go deep into alpha human territory.

Yep you can, go nuts. The only restriction is that you can only cross the threshold in one mutation path.

261
After learning tons of cooking and working on getting an alpha serum recipe going, I have everything I need to make a single serum of the damn thing EXCEPT for the plant mutagen, which requires tainted veggy.

You can also get tainted veggy from butchering a Fungaloid.

Don't even bother with tainted veggies, you can use datura seeds instead and they can easily be obtained from flower picking.
(Also triffids don't drop tainted veggies, they drop plant marrow.)

No more Maoyuu? Seriously?

Man, where the hell else am I supposed to get political/socio-economic thrillers from in anime, Code Geass?
C: The Money of Soul and Possibility Control

Haven't watched it, but it sounds like Pokemon, but the trainers are called "Entrepreneurs", the creatures are called "Assets" and they fight in tournaments called "Deals" in the "Financial District" which is some sort of alternate dimension where they have illegal fights.

I was not fond of C:_Money, I found the hero and heroine to be both incredibly bland.

Isn't the point of the lab start to not get lucky and break out, but rather survive in the lab?

You would starve before too long. The point of lab is to have hard mode before breaking out.

You can live for moderatly extended periods of time in the lab. In particular, if you take the cannibal trait you can eat mutated legs/fetuses/arms without throwing up and they satiate for quite a bit. You then use royal jelly to counteract the health neg. Also, bottled water is plentiful.

*Edit*
This is assuming you don't have random NPCs on. They do spawn in labs so if you have random NPCs on you can just hunt them for food.

a standardized, presumably multiple-choice, exam. I don't know about you, but I'm terrified by the idea of a world in which your SAT scores follow you for the rest of your life.

Multiple choice? I haven't seen one of those in any serious study since I was in my mid-teens. We certainly don't have any multiple choice questions in the senior highschool exams in Australia. Those are for monkey's, not a serious education system.

Not sure about the SAT but I know the ACT is mostly in multiple choice here in 'Murica. The ACT and SAT are our two big end of high school standardized tests.
Though I agree, multiple choice questions are terrible.

One interesting little strategy I've heard about but never bothered to try is to have an entire combat width of cavalry and artillery with no infantry in one army, then have an accompanying army with tones of infantry. So the first army engages and the second army engages one day after the first one. This results in a full combat width of cavalry (mostly) without supply problems.
Not entirely sure if its actually useful, but an interesting thought nonetheless.

Has anything more been added in the way of a late/endgame in the last year or so? The last version I played was the major release of the Romero one, I believe. And I always get to the same point with my characters - I start in a city, make a safehouse at the corner of it, and slowly fight my way through clearing out zombies and gathering supplies. And then typically I've found a half-decent rifle and can kill just about anything from headshots. I raid labs for a while getting mutations and bionics and such, but kinda quickly get bored because of the lack of any lategame challenges.

So is there anything new to alleviate that?

Not really, IMO. I don't think roadblocks and the such were in Romero but there less of a late game threat and more of just instant death until you learn how to handle them, and then fairly easy.

I myself have only really tried melee characters, the closest I got to a ranged character was one focused on throwing which I soon found was a pain since any and all wearable storage that I know of will negatively affect throwing since eye, torso, hand and leg encumbrance are all bad for for throwing(legs for quickly moving around and picking things back up since you cant hold that many). I tried archery, but taking 2-3 turns to fire a single arrow seemed like a deathwish compared to punching them 2-6 times per turn.

How do you usually make your ranged characters? What are your presets and strategies?

Archery really really really sucks balls when you first start. The key to being a good archer is just putting time into getting your skills up and getting to the point where you can make metal arrows. Once you get that far you hit pretty hard (and fast) with bows, maybe not as much as an equal skill melee char but pretty good damage nonetheless. If you wanted to be a good archer from the start I would probably recommend dumping several points into archery and fabrication. Iirc you need 5 fabrication to start making metal arrows so drop two points into that and you're almost there.
Also you don't really need to build special to use guns so most of my chars start as melee and segway into fusion gun spam later on.

BTW, does anyone know whether your chaplain proselytizing converts people to his religion or to yours?

The chaplain's.

You can only have a chaplain who has the same exact religion as your own.

If you change religion it doesn't boot the chaplain out, so you can in certain situations. (unless its been changed, I haven't played in a little while).

Okay, more noob questions. Is one-regiment-per-ship transports the only way to move armies around in water? If so, is there a way to automate it somewhat? Can I get vassal/PU troops in them too?
Long story short I was dumb enough to fall in an alliance with Aragon. They got all cocky and threw themselves in a war against Castille. I want to honour the alliance but France hates my guts and I only have one transport to move troops around.
tbh I was thinking in bailing out of the war and letting Aragon get pwned. This way I can throw a claim on Sardinia and get it easily for myself. Problem being I really wanted Aragon around to make France fight on two fronts in their inevitable war with me.

If you haven't noticed, you can order your armies to simply "walk" over the water and your nearest transport ships will automatically do it. It can still only be done one at a time with this method, but at least you don't have to do it manually.

Other than that, no.

So, I had Barrois in my pocket for a while and can annex them now. The thing I didn't know is that annexing a HRE member carries a -25 relations hit with the whole HRE. Is that generally troublesome? Does it fade away with time? 25 seems like quite a bit and Austria hates my guts. There is also the hit on diplomatic reputation, I'm not even sure what it does, but apparently savoyard traditions give me some of that.

It's generally not too big of a deal. It typically won't be enough to affect your relationship with your allies, and people who hate you will just continue hating you. It's only really a problem when your trying some difficult diplomatic action, like allying with someone much more powerful than yourself or diplovassalizing somebody. Or if you do it a bunch so the -25 stacks up. Like most relation affects it does degrade and eventually go away with time.

Dip rep affects your success chance with most diplomatic actions and how fast you can annex vassals.
