Some people do it for added challenge, but IMO that can be achieved simply by not scumming through your soldier list for the people with the best stats.

By the way, I tested Close and Personal last night with Rapid Shot and it doesn't work. That ended my turn, while doing a regular shot followed by Rapid Shot worked fine. So it's still just 3 shots at most. Which is still really nice.

yeah to get four shots you need either bullet swarm or CCS.

He could have triggered intimidate twice, once with double shot and once again with CCS, and that second one made him panic.

Sentinel would still be much better, but yeah it could be pretty good.

I'm pretty sure Portent is part of the DLC, I've never had Portent without it turned on, when I used to have it every game as the first council mission when it was turned on.

Portent has like a billion thin men. just off the top of my head at least 3 squads of three (but i'm pretty sure its actually 4) combined with about 5 more through drops, and a few sectoids for kicks. Also its not really good terrain, sure good concealment, but high ground everywhere that the thinmen can and will abuse. especially since most of the drops are on top of roofs and the roofs don't have much good cover for you. Most council missions have lotsa sectoids to dilute the thinmen. The one I did just recently had 5 thinmen in the entire level, which is like a third of that of Portents. (though that level, the escort mission through that alleyway with the laundry mat, may be the easiest council mission in the game.)

@ Sean, Portent  is the first mission in the new DLC chain, the one about the french convey. AFAIK Exalt is independent of that chain, I could be wrong though.

Ah, guess I misread.

TBH I was pretty underwhelmed by both the Electropulse and the mine launcher, I could just gun down sectopods most times and I didn't wanna advance vs their overwatch thing most of the times anyway.

Didn't know you could detonate mines with other explosives, might hafta try that sometime.

Yeah the mine launcher isn't too great. When I first picked it up I thought it would be hilarious to combine it with invisible troops in order to drop mines on unactivated troops, but it works really buggily if you do that.

*edit*

Theoretically it could be used to good affect against melee troops without actually exposing your mechs, but by the time you have tier 3 mechs you aren't very scared of melee troops.

Also, they greatly increase your margin of error, especially on the higher difficulties, since aliens will typically choose to shoot at a mech soldier instead of killing your squashies if you stupidly put them in low/high cover unhunkered down/ in a place where they can be flanked.

So, I think I have officially decided to stop doing bomb disposal missions on II.

The really important numbers to remember are that partial cover is +20, full cover is +40, and hunker down is +20 AND immunity to crits (aka partial cover hunkered down is defensively slightly better than full cover).

Hunker down matches your cover bonus, so its +40 if you're in heavy cover.

They've mentioned that they are working on optimization for this patch as well.

If it was a different map I think they would have mentioned it because of all the ranting and raving about how the new provinces will make the game unplayable. I'm also pretty sure I saw a Pdox rep say that the new provinces "would be in the patch" which would be a pretty nonsensical thing to say if they were different maps.

First version or the remake?

Haven't watched the remake but the first version I'm a pretty big fan of and it was one of the first animes I watched. Felt it went kinda blegh during the last two OVAs though.

I did that a while back. Last semester for my comm class we were suppose to write a review on a movie and my prof mentioned that our library had Princess Mononoke (He was a big anime fan) and since I hadn't seen it in a long time I decided to review it. Nice trip down nostalgia lane since Princess Mononoke was either the first or second anime type thing I ever watched. (Totoro might have been the first, I can't remember.)

We need to work on dappertude a bit.

Now that Grate is the Bear God, have some father-son bonding time by constructing his temple with him.
